Hello has anyone had a double mastectomy and diep reconstruction?
I had it in may and i have been told by my oncologist that i wont be getting any scans. I feel i should be given a brest mri yearly to check? How else will they check my chest wall? I know they cant take all the breast tissue so should they not be checking with a scan, i am 31 diagnosed last October xx

I had a double mastectomy back in 2022 (no reconstruction).
I am frustrated that I cannot get the NHS trust in my area to agree to annual monitoring by MRI. I have asked, and been refused, 4 times. It’s all about the money and demand exceeding available slots, not about legitimate need. (They have conducted bone scans - again, ONLY at my request - but this means repeated exposure to radiation and does not look at the soft tissue, which of course is where the earliest stages are likely to be spotted, and my type - lobular - usually doesn’t form detectable lumps.) At my follow ups I get a quick manual examination and am asked “How are you? Any concerns?” Well, yes, I’m concerned I’m not being checked properly without MRIs !! 
I am in West Sussex, UK. It seems to be a post code lottery, as I know others have had their request satisfied, and some are even offered this up front. Where are you resident? Let me know if you get any joy. 
Its so frustrating, ive not pushed it yet i was just told from my oncologist that i wasnt getting any which through me off.
I had dcis and idc. The dcis is pre cancerous and doesnt form a lump so im the same. How will they be able to tell ?
Im going to ask at my next appointment and push for a brest mri, im in scotland Scottish borders
