Hi just had DIEP reconstruction on Tuesday this week and home - both surgery sites seem ok but my pubic area seems swollen only noticed this when I got home and no one mentioned it in hospital- I have an outpatient appointment on Tuesday so I can raise it then but just freaked me out a bit - is this normal?
I can see you have messaged the nurses I’m sure they will reply very soon.
I’m not medically trained to give advice, but would like you to know we are all here for you. I think in the meantime if you are feeling concerned please give your breast cancer team a call or 111.
Well done for getting this far with your surgery. Wishing you well going forward, please post again and let us know how your getting on.
Hugs Tili
Thank you - I did contact my nurse and felt a little more reassured it’s normal but she also said they will check me on Tuesday - so I am a little more eased
Hello gsd1007
Thanks for posting.
Swelling can occur in and around the operated area for any type of reconstruction but its good to read you have been reassured by your nurse and they will check you fully tomorrow.
As @Tili mentions, you can try 111. This can be helpful if you have any future concerns that you are not able to contact your GP or treatment team about or need assessing more quickly.
