Different brands of Tamoxifen

Hi

Has anyone experienced different side effects with different brands of Tamoxifen? The brand I’m taking has been discontinued and I want to know if there are any brands that cause more side effects than others and if so which ones.

Yes! I had least side effects with Nolvadex, but that has now been discontinued.

I have tried both APS and Wockhardt and I seem to be better with APS. I think you may have to try them and see what is best for you as it does seem to be quite individual and I know there are some people here for whom Wockhardt is good.

Yes, I had noticeably worse side effects on one brand as opposed to the other. I think you just have to try until you find what suits you because everyone is different. I have previously seen posts on here from people who had bad side effects on Generics brand and were better on APS and Wockhardt, but I was the opposite. I tolerate Generics really well and barely even get hot flushes. On another brand(can’t remember now which of those other two it was) I got really bad hot flushes and also tingling in the feet. Now I request Generics every time I get a repeat prescription.

like Lola and Eliza say different brands effect different people. I find I have fewer side effects with Wockhardt than APS so thats what I take at the moment.

Hi. I started on Wockhardt and after a couple of months the hot flushes died right down, then I decided to try APS and the hot flushes got much worse again, so I switched back to Wockhardt a couple of months ago and the flushes are still really bad, grrr.

I feel for you! At the moment for me, 30 degrees of heat, a wig, a lymphodema sleeve and hot flushes every hour, I know exactly how exhausting it all is.
What is it with Tamoxifen?? I have been told that it’s not possible to have different reactions to different brands, but women, doctors, nurses and pharmacists will say otherwise. Why can we not get to the bottom of it all? If we could find what causes these differences then maybe it could make things easier for all of us.

Hi i too was much better on nolvadex, but recently have had to stop my tamoxifen for surgery and now restarted notice my hair is thinning has anyone else noticed this?
