Hi
I’m 29 and seen my skin underneath my left breast looked ever so slightly dented, I have lumps in my breast occasionally too when ovulating, which I currently am at the moment.
Went to walk in centre yesterday afternoon as was worried - she had a look and seen the puckering too and felt a pea sized lump. She said to go gp tomorrow and get referral to be safe. She said she thinks it’s highly unlikely it could be sinister as I’m young healthy, had children etc.
I’m going tomorrow with my mum and 2 small children as husband working. I just can’t help but feel sad and think the ultimate worse and I won’t be here to see my 2 beautiful girls grow up.
Scared is an understatement.
I know there is a 2 week referral but if it’s likely not this week I will be paying privately for the scan etc because I need to know.
Has anybody else had anything similar? Please help
I’m really sorry you’re having to cope with this- it is just so scary and stressful. I’m about the same age as you and I have my appointment at the one-stop breast clinic on Wednesday afternoon for redness and peau d’orange.
Please do keep in mind though that 9 out of 10 people who are referred under the two-week referral pathway do not have cancer. Also of the 1 out of 10 that do have cancer, a proportion have early cancer, which is treatable and go on to live full lives.
I hope you get the referral from your GP today! xx
Hi Esy,
No matter what the breast symptom, statistically it’s highly unlikely to be anything serious, especially in a woman of your age, although it doesn’t stop the mind going into overdrive & catastrophising of course!
Normally, the GP will refer you to the breast clinic under the 2 week rule, which is normal procedure, so you should get an appointment through quite quickly. It’s up to you of course, but in terms of timescales, whether you pay for it or not, there’s not a lot of difference in time scales when referred under the 2 week rule.
Chances are all’s well, it usually is.
