Can I have your thoughts please folks.
Cutting a long journey short I was dx’d back in 2005 since then I have had surgery x 3, Fec x 6, radiotherapy, tax x 4 and am having Herceptin. I feel lucky because I still have what is called local recurrences. However lately I have had periods of dizziness which I am putting down to work pressure. I had to really take myself in hand today and not go into work as the tiredness and dizziness has begun to effect my driving.
I believe in gut feelings and don’t really think that I have brain mets but I wanted to check out any advice from ladies or fellows who may have brain mets. If you don’t mind sharing your experiences did you start with periods of dizziness on constant dizziness? where you sick and headachy etc?
I want to be aware of any possible changes but not over sensitive if you know what I mean.
Many thanks
Carol
Hi there
I havent had brain mets but I had the same sort of problem with my treatment Zometa and had to come off of it
So I would suggest that you contact the Specialist anyway as even if it is stress it is better to get it soirted out once and forall
Let us know how you get on and keep the old chin up

Hi Carol - sounds like symptons of blood pressure too - has that been checked lately?
Hi Jane and Gerry
Thanks for the feedback on Dizziness. Sorry to have been so long replying, I have only just revisited the forum.
My blood pressure is OK it was taken last week, the dizziness has abated slightly but not gone completely so if after the rest of my holiday next week things are not better I will contact the BC nurse to be on the safe side.
Cheers
Carol
Hi Carol,
appologies before I start as this is the first time I have written here so hopefully it will make sense! I was diagnosed 2006, had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed, chemotherapy, radiotherapy then herceptin for a year but sickiness never completely went away. Last december started feeling more tired but put this down to studying and work, started with headaches, went to docs who said I was depressed (which I wasn’t) went back a few weeks later and was told it was migraine. Headaches became much worse so I saw a different gp who sent me for a scan which showed a brain tumour.
Have now had surgery and radiotherapy and hopefully the all clear, sorry to be negative, but I think we are the best people to judge our own bodies when we know that something isn’t quite right, whatever that might be. I also think it is better to be realistic as we all know these little blighters are buggers to get rid of! Get it checked out and put your mind at rest, good luck
Pauline
My dizziness & nausea turned out to be 3 brain mets. I was emergency admitted to hospital, and they weren’t sure if I was going to make it, but six months later all is under control and I’m doing fine.
What you are describing doesn’t sound as severe as my symptoms, but you have nothing to lose by getting yourself checked out and everything to gain. If it’s not brain mets you can stop worrying. If it is, the sooner you get treatment the better.

lynn,
did you have the tumours removed or are they still there?
PaulaD
Hi Paula
Did not have the tumors removed as 3 about golf ball size & the onc says I would not have survived the surgery.
I had high dose steroids (dexamethasone) to shrink the swelling (oedema) and stop my symptoms of nausea & dizziness, then 5 doses of whole brain radiation to smash the mets, then continued on reducing dose of steroids. 1mg of dex a day seems to be dealing with the remaining oedema, and 6 months on I’m still here and feeling a whole lot better.

I had dizziness and passed out once, the doc said it was a faint because i can’t control how hot i get because of the tamoxifen. Sounded right to me at the time not so sure now but then I haven’t had anymore. The doc got me into juicing and smoothy making and i seem to get less flushes because of it.
