Hi Dawn
Wanted to do a whisper thread but couldn’t find one to do with you and I am a bit new to forums so sorry about this. Just want to say Thank You for your support, You have started a couple of threads but replied to so many and I am sure you have helped so many people by your replies and support, You have both your young children which must be so fantastic and beautiful to be with them, but you have so much time for everyone else I just find you inspirational, I’m sure like the rest of us you have your bad times so let us be there for you as well.
Again sorry for not being so private as said couldn’t find a whisper and I know on this site they will not let you pass on personal e-mails. What a shame as we are adults, shame they don’t monitor some more dubious sites as well as this.
You take care Dawn

ps don’t know how to request a whisper either! 1968 born people were born too late to have a big excuse to be a techno phobe but to early to know everything.

Hi JulieL
To do a whisper, where it says Add your comments, then says Send a private message, just type in username to send to ie; dm1968 and then type message as normal. This will then only been seen by the user you send to.
Thank you so much for your message though. Think helping post to other peoples problems helps me get through mine. I had my 2nd chemo yesterday and all went ok, but my hair is really getting me down now, as falling out in droves and can’t stop it, so think gonna get shaved off tomorrow, so lots more tears will be falling. I do have some bad days, but mostly good and so want to beat this to see my children go to school and grow up. Worst part though is knowing it is on my liver, that is what gets me down, as not curable as such. Think if had stayed only as breast cancer, might have been a little bit easier to face. Ah well, no point dwelling, just got to get up, stay as strong as I can and do whatever I can to fight it.
Please let me know what your dx is, as can’t remember, and brain a bit mushy really, so forgetful right now, bit of mixture of mummy brain and chemo brain … not good combination.
Thank you once again for your message.
Love

Hi Dawn,
May I ask, how long was it before your hair started to come out? are you trying the coldcap?
Hi Lynne
Had my 2nd chemo yesterday and it started really coming out last Friday, so prob. just about 3 weeks it took. And it is now coming out in heaps. Not very nice and quite emotional today about it.
Cold cap was not an option for me, as have secondary liver cancer too, so if had cold cap then would stop chemo working in brain area in case got any rogue cells flying around my blood stream. And was told that as had fine blonde hair, cold cap may not be that effective either.
Lots of others on here have had cold cap though with success.
Hope this helps and that you are ok.

I can imagine hun! its the part I am not looking forward to and to be honest i know I will have an extremley hard time dealing with it…
I know I am wearing the coldcap however my BC nurse and I dont really have a close relationship and she told me I would pretty much lose my hair as soon as I had my 2nd even wearing the coldcap - so much for hope eh! Anyhow the reason I ask is I shaved my legs and underarms last week and got a fine stubble and now its stopped growing…so im just wondering is this the start of it?
Hi Lynne
I don’t have that close a relationship with my bc nurse either to be honest. Have to say, think my hairs and underarms still growing, pubes (bit personal) seem to have started to fall out … hubby thinks having free mohican is good - yeah right!! Rather pay!!! Mine started really with my head. But everyone is different.
Good luck with your treatment though, and you never know your hair may last longer or even not all fall out. Do you have fine or thick hair. Thick is best I think
Take care

Hi Dawn,
My hair is very short kinda messy/spiky looking but is quite thick. My Chemo nurse said that cold caps work better for short haired ladies, however when I read about Epirubicin on internet it states that you get complete hair loss - so I am not sure. I am tempted to get it trimmed this weekend before my 2nd on on Wednesday - however my BC nurse was quite to the point when she asked my about if i was wearing the coldcap and i said yes then told me it will prob start coming out straight after that. She also said she prob wouldnt recommend getting my haircut before my 2nd treatment as my hair might fall out as the hairdresser is cutting it…however my hair still feels quite strong… I think maybe a word with my chemo nurse would help.
As for your hubby - what are men like!LOL
You take care too and good luck with your treatment. If I can help with anything just shout.

Hi Dawn
Dx was Ductal Invasive grade 2 but gone to 3. Either 1 large tumour attached by threads?? or 2 tumours close together. They are not quite sure. They also thought mine may have spread to organs or bone as grew very quickly but scans b4 chemo appear to be negative but they only gave me that info very briefly after my Sentinal Node Biopsy last week. At least they brought the chemo forward which I had on 20th instead of original date of 29th. Yeh not looking forward to the hair thing as my hair is to my bottom. Got 1st wig and ordered some more from a lady in Edinburgh internet site Wigbank.com They have donated wigs cost £5 - £20 and new ones £40 and some of the money goes to cancer charity which is brill. Lovely Lady who started it and they have a few around the country. Agnes Lennox is her name. Great to be able to contribute back and cheaper than NHS wigs! I am using cold cap for 1st half of chemo but been told second half it wouldn’t work (Taxol + Gem) Hoping to hold onto my hair at least another week as going to a concert next wednesday to see The Police (life long fan) would hate to lose wig in middle of the concert.
Sorry both and Lynne don’t have very good relations with BC Nurse I am quite lucky mine is lovely and doesn’t mind me asking her anything or ringing her anytime and does get back to me if I leave her a message. How are you feeling after your 2nd chemo?
Take care, speak soon,
Love
JulieL
