Docetaxel and carboplatin are they that bad?

I’m due to start this chemo combination in January are they that bad? I would be really grateful if anybody could tell me about their experiences ( hopefully good ones!)

Hi Emma,

I can’t speak from personal experience, as I had FEC-T. But one of the February Valentines had TC-H. Taxotere, Carboplatin and Herceptin. She didn’t have any worse time than those of us on FEC or FEC-T. If you pop along to the February Valentine’s thread in the monthly chemotherapy threads, you could read some of her posts. Don’t begin at the beginning though as she didn’t start chemo until after us.

Thank you for that, any positive news at the moment is great!

Hi, I had 3 fec then 3 docetaxol and herceptin. I found docetaxol not as bad as the fec. Everyone is different though. I lost some but not all of my eyebrows, and my eye lashes thinned quite a bit. I had my chemo on Fridays, so would take it easy at the weekend. I didn’t have any nausea, I just felt drugged! After a couple of days I liked to get out in the fresh air. Remember, what ever symptom you have, tell the nurses the next time, there is always something for the side effects if you get any. And don’t worry  I didn’t find it as bad as I thought it would be! Hope this helps.
