After another stint in Christies, I’ve been told that the EC chemo I’ve been on hasn’t worked and I’m going on Doxetaxel (Taxotere) on 14th July… this is after I had a big dose of radiotherapy today on my neck…
I’m sick of them changing my treatment (I know it has to be done) but am now petrified of the side effects, as those I’ve had on EC have been horrible!!
Just looking at reaching out into the ether for a little reassurance and advice please people!!!
hi poannie, i did 3xfec and 3 x tax and personally would have the tax over fec, i had no nausea and it wasnt a breeze but i had read the side effects and was worried but for me personally it was ok i know everyone is different but i wish you well and good luck with this chemo xxx
I had FEC and Tax, and my bone mets showed some healing with Tax. I personally found FEC easier, but my onc told me that generally if people have a tough time with FEC, they will find Tax easier - and vice versa - so I hope that rule holds for you.
Hi Poannie - I fully understand the trauma of having to change treatments; it’s the one time I go “down”. But my experience is that once the new treatment starts I feel positive again and full of hope - it’s good that your TAX starts quite soon as I find the waiting the worst thing. I had FEC and it worked quite well for me and TAX did not work for me so am hoping you are “the reverse”!! Hope the rads are ok for you - I’m waiting for my first appt for some on my hip. Lots of TAX advice on threads that really helped me - do keep in touch - and keep hopeful.
