I have been browsing re this but couldn’t so decided to start a new topic.
I just got back from my third cycle of TCHP (neo-adjucant for grade 2 triple positive breast cancer). I had a reaction to the second infusion of docetaxel but it was stopped, managed and resumed at a lower pace cycle two. I have been unwell since. Cycle 3 was delayed twice due to a chest infection and breathlessness which then became a sensitivity to two different antibiotics, CT scan looking for lung fibrosis and then another looking for thrombosis. All negative.
Cycle 3 happened today and what ended up going through was CHP as I had another reaction to docetaxel even at the slower pace possible and it had to be stopped. I have now been told that the oncology team will be in touch to talk about my plan going forward.
I am so deflated today: feel like every visit to the hospital raises more questions and complexities than any source of relief or feeling of progression. Has anyone been in a similar position and if so, what can be done to tackle this sort of situation? Should I be pushing for anything in particular? Very aware that I am not the medical professional but do feel that time passes and although the treatments are on pause and revised, the cancer itself isn’t paused.
Thank you so much. This is very helpful. My reaction from cycle 3 yesterday sounds a lot like your one, including the blue arm. Will get in touch with my team over the weekend to see what they suggest. Xx
Hi, I just wanted to say that I am on ECT chemo and had a reaction to paclitaxel after which I was changed to Abraxane which I have been fine on, & by all accounts is generally very well tolerated.
Of course, I have no idea whether this is conceivable on TCHP chemo but what I do know is Abraxane is very costly & they don’t exactly dish it out unless they absolutely have to. So definitely one to advocate for if at all possible.
Hi
I had the same reaction during the start of 2nd Docetaxel. They gave me iV antihistamine and slowed the dose. This worked really well. It made me very sleepy for next 2 days but I was grateful for that. I then insisted each time that I was given antihistamine - they said I did not probably need it, but I said I would not want to have the chemo without it. Hope that helps. I’m sure they will find a solution for you - there are so many options. Sending hugs your way x
