Can a doctor issue a sick note to say patient is unable to work staggered shifts due to cancer fatigue?
I’m just looking at a Statement of Fitness to Work, there is a tick box for “not fit” or “you may be fit for work taking account of the following advice” and then a comment box that starts with the words “If available, and with your employer’s agreement,”. It looks like the GP can recommend but I expect it’s down to your boss if they decide to take the advice. Do you have an occupational health department? I hope you feel better soon.
Yep, as citty says, your doc can recommend that you are fit for work if specific reasonable adjustments are made.
This includes change of hours, extra rest breaks, phased return, providing any equipment which would make your job easier. If the employer refuses to make the adjustments then you would stay on sick leave.
I would imagine that changing shift patterns must be exhausting even when you’re fully fit.
Good luck, hope you can agree on a workable solution x
