Just to fill you in on progress so far, I was diagnosed in March 2010, with clear lymph nodes, soon to be diagnosed with liver mets, I had a lumpectomy and 6 cycles of FEC, followed by RFA, leaving me totally tumour free. March 2011 tumours return in the lymph nodes breast area, I then have a mastectomy and diep reconstruction followed by radiotherapy. July 2012 multiple tumours back in the lymph area, liver still stable but mets showing in bones. I am now nearing the end of a course of paclitaxel and at the halfway PET scan the response wasn’t as good as hoped so I have also started avastin with the taxol. The idea is to continue the avastin every three weeks from now on.
Is there anyone out there in a similar situation or further down the road with avastin as I am keen to know how you are getting on with it. I run my own business and am very active and so would love any first hand experiences.

Hi wild at heart
I was dx in July 09, had 4 x AC then masc and lymph node clearance then 6 x tax.Followed by 15 radiotherapy.
Then in June 11,secondaries in lymph nodes in neck and sternum.
Have had 18 x weekly paxi, with avastin every 2weeks. Have been on just avastin since nov 11.
Had nail bed I nfections, and aching limbs, at first, but avastin has been better. Hair has grown back, feel tired and upset tummy, but that’s mainly it.
I have another ct scan next wk, have one every 3 months, yearly bone scan. Have been suffering with shoulder pain over last few wks, on lidocaine patches n cocodomol too.
Usually on secondaries / triple neg thread, lots of lovelly ladies with nearly daily updates of support etc.

All the best to you

Hi wild at heart. I was diagnosed with triple negative bc in October 2011 and had a lumpectomy, lymph node clearance, fec and tac, mastectomy and radiotherapy. Was just waiting in reconstruction and found out I had skin mets which led to secondary diagnosis in liver in march this year. Then had a bowt of carboplatin which reduced skin mets and liver lesions at first, but then stopped. Had a pet scan which showed up bone mets and now just had 2nd lot of taxol/acid for bones. Couldn’t get the funding for avastin in my area so trying to battle that one at the moment.
Although I live in Worcester, I saw an oncologist at the royal marsden and if I had my treatment there I could have the avastin, postcode lottery.
Hope all goes well for you, be interesting to see how you get on with it. You just want to try anything.
