Hi everyone. I am due 3rd FEC and also body scan to see if its working. Got metastatic BC in bones and liver.
Just looking for some feedback from people who have had:
A. chemo changed mid way through because FEC not working and
B. Those who have completed the full course - has it worked
Cheers
Jane
Hi Jane
I completed 6 cycles of FEC in 2003 after being diagnosed with bone mets. Since then I’ve been on Herceptin and bisphosphates. (Initially I was diagnosed in 1999 with DCIS and didn’t have any chemotherapy). A bone scan following the FEC showed a marked reduction in the bone disease and I didn’t suffer from many problems until 2008. Since then the disease has progressed and I’ve had further chemo, radiotherapy and most recently a vertebraplasty.
So yes, I suppose I can say that FEC worked for me. My oncologist gave me a prognosis of 2-3 years in 2003 and here I am in 2010 leading a good life, if somewhat restricted, and planning on being around for a long time to come.
Best wishes
Judith
Hi Jane
I was dx’ed with primary and bone mets all together in December '08. I had a course of 6 x EC rather than FEC but it had an excellent effect on my primary tumour, reducing it by 80%. I then had five weeks of rads which have made the primary disappear. My bones are currently stable.
So yes, as far as I am concerned, EC worked very well for me.
All the best

Hi Jane
I was diagnosed in 2003 with G3 tumour and had 4 x FEC & 4 x other initials I cant remember (began with C I think) so 6 years down the line I would say yes it seems to have worked (so far) for me.
I suspect however, its not that simple and that there are many other factors to take into consideration. I believe that the second undetected tumour my amazing Surgeon spotted is why I am here to tell the tale but who knows
Good luck
