I had an MX and immediate LD recon 10 weeks ago - recovering well, arm movement fine, scar healing and breast starting to feel softer again however, I have been left with this horrible extra bit of skin at the side of the scar on my back, they call it a dog ear - such a horrible name, I think!
Has anyone else experienced this and if so has it been removed/corrected? I realise in the grand scheme of things this might seem like a little thing but it upsets me as I am aware of it all the time.
Any advice/info would be much appreciated

I too had this, it was 12 years ago, the nurse made me feel very vain when I asked about removing it. When I went to have my port removed the surgeon asked me if I wanted it removed, and was really nice about it. He removed it and tidied up the scare/ spare skin.
Hi Madge
I had the same op as you on 31st March this year and I have a dog ear too.
Am waiting for an appt for nipple recon and my plastic surgeon is going to get rid of my dog ear and also the implant port which sometimes gets sore.
Told plastic surgeon I had a dogs leg. Chemo brain still even tho I finished treatment 2 years ago. It gave him a laugh anyway.
Hope you can get yours sorted too.

Thanks Daisy-may and Sue, I have to say the BCN also made me feel like it wasn’t anything very much, but it’s not her having to see and feel it every day! My surgeon is very nice so I am hopeful he will sort it for me.

hi ladies, i had LD flap 10 weeks ago and have large dog ear under my new boob, i understand how you feel and hope mine will be tiedied up when i have the other lifted. Can i also ask, have any of u experienced excrusiating pain in your back where muscle was removed from? i developed a pain just yesterday, so bad it reduced me to tears. As i was at hosp i got them to check me out. they were happy the pain was beginning to ease with ibuprofen and let me go home. Just wondered if it is just feeling feturning to surgery site or if it could be fat necrosa…would appreciate any advice. thanks everyone take care …pauline xxx
