Advice Hi Christine

Welcome to the Forums, I hope you will find them informative and supportive.

You can call the helpline on 0808 800 6000
Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-2pm.

The team is able to talk about technical issues surrounding breast cancer and breast health including travel information.

They can talk through the complexities of different treatments and conditions and I am sure you would be able to clarify some of the questions you have.

I hope this helps and please carry on posting to the forums

Best wishes

Infections Hi Christine
I had WLE in July 03, and got very bad infection afterwards, this meant I had to go to hosp. twice a day to have dressings changed for a few days, then daily for about 2 weeks.
I was also put on 2 different antibiotics (double dose initially). Infection was in both wound and drain site. Took 6 weeks before it was sufficiently cleared for me to start chemo.
Take care of yourself, and don’t overdo things, infection will go, but mine was painful, took a long time and left serious scar.

3 1/2 years on, (and further serious infection 18 months ago). I’ve just had reconstruction (Lat Dorsi) last week, and keeping fingers crossed no infection this time. So far early days, but pleased with results and looks as if scar is significantly improved.

You have been unlucky, but unfortunately it is reasonably common, I seem to be prone to them. Rest and look after yourself, take care it will get better.
