My friend was really anxious about going for radiotherapy, so every Friday she decided to go in a ball gown to calm her nerves. She purchased one at the charity shop to wear and boy does she look fabulous.
So as I go for my first radiotherapy today, thought I’d join in the fun and I’m going to wear different footwear every day.
How many of you are going to join me and my friend and turn this into something that we own, have a laugh and not let it define us. If you are Instagram users, post your pic, tag Breast Cancer Now and use the #du4c
Well done to you both, what a great way to deal with your treatment, feel sure you brighten up the department. Hope lots of other will join the in with trend.
Wishing you well for going forward with lots of fun and happiness
I’ve also named my boobs after cocktails: so my existing boob is an Old Fashioned and my new boob is a Rita Hayworth (well she had great boobs after all and has cocktails named after her)
My local restaurant has joined in the fun and now serves them. My niece even got me a pair of socks!!!
Your friend looks amazing in that dress ! My treatments are finished but what a great idea . The support group I’m part of recently did a fashion show at a local shop in aod of Breast Cancer Now - they’ve done it before and it’s always a sell out . I wasn’t able to go unfortunately but it looked amazing on the vid clips xx
Your friend looks amazing & if this helped her that’s great. I personally did not feel any anxiety about radiotherapy, so I guess I was lucky, the actual treatment was over in no time & my side effects were very tolerable, thank goodness.
I’m the same, just had my second session but no anxiety or worries other than hoping my implant remains intact. The 15 mile journey there and back is the worst bit
When I had mine earlier this year I picked out 5 of my “better” outfits to wear and put on makeup each day. My husband said I looked as if I was going somewhere posh. Still looked the same half naked on the bed but I felt one heck of a lot better.
I love shiny fabrics and embellishments on my clothes and wear a lot of Camilla. I ALWAYS made sure to wear something fabulous and sparkly to my chemo and radiation treatments. I have other friends who’ve done the same. It made me feel better and I felt like the sparkles were like an armour.
Yes no anxiety for me either thank goodness….Unfortunately we had a 90 mile round trip for my radiotherapy. …I had such inspiration from my mum as at 79 went through a double mastectomy and 6 weeks of radiotherapy with a 77 mile round trip, leaving home at 7.10 am every morning…She took it all in her stride
One thing this website does is help to stop you feeling sorry for yourself as there is always someone who is worse than yourself. I had a 30 mile round trip for my radiotherapy & thought that was a long way, now I realise I was very fortunate, with that & other things.
I’m doing the same - 30 mile round trip. But I’m still working daily too and that’s what keeps me going as well as this group. Only thing I feel now is exhausted and a little broken but still fighting, living life as normal and trying to be “me”
