Dry skin on tamoxifen

Hi everyone
Seems like a silly little thing to be worrying about but my skin has become really dry over the last couple of months. It started off just appearing a little dry and flaky so I moisturised like mad without any difference, even tried the really pricey ones! I now have a patch of really inflamed painful skin on my face and just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and if so how do you get it under control?
Don’t know whether to see my GP or a beautician!
I’ve really only just started to get my self confidence back after chemo and it’s just getting me down a bit.
Would so appreciate some advice, thanks.

Hello Kate

I ended up with two very dry sore patches of skin on my upper chest. I finally got it under control by using aqueous cream after my morning shower and Body Shop’s Dream Cream when going to bed at night. The secret is not to rub it in much, just put it on.

I would say if that does not work then go to the GP because it might need a little help along the way with a steroid cream.

i have dry skin… can be quite itchy especially on my legs and boobs… also developed dry scalp, constipation, dry mouth and dry eyes…

i have aqueous cream for dry skin, poly tar shampoo for dry scalp, dioctyl and senna for dry poo, biotene oral balance gel for dry mouth and hypromellose drops for dry eyes.

these problems are a bit irritating but nothing major but have all symptoms except dry eyes since starting tamox 4 years ago dry eyes only developed a year ago on chemo but never got better when i went back on tamox
