Duct papilloma

Hi everyone I am new on here. I have just been told last week that I have I a intraductal papilloma. Not happy at all had the triple test done and the fluid checked out, consultant is not worried he said for best thing is to have it removed. I’m hoping it will settle down . But one lady said she got cancer in the same spot where they removed the papilloma. Really terrified now.

Please somebody help I need some advice. Going crazy. Even though it’s known to be benign why am I worried other wise?

Hi, I had a papilloma removed fron the left side of my right breast nov 2010, I was dx with bc sept 2011, it was same boob but right side. I was told it must come out. The dr radiologist told me that research was being done with the connection being that if left could turn serious! If it happened again I don’t know if I would remove. Try and look into a bit more, good luck xx

HI Banu.

Give the helpline a call tomorrow, they will be able to answer your fears.

I don’t know very much about your diagnosis, but I do know about the fears you face, and those are big demons. If you have been advised on removal, then take that option. You cannot possibly predict the outcome of what will happen in the future, so I would suggest don’t try to, otherwise you will suffer.

I know you are frightened and you are in the right place, here the ladies can hold your hand and walk you through every step of the way!

Hi, thanks for that , will need to talk to the Doctor more. He did say its a very normal thing he wants remove it because I’m uncomfortable with it.

Hi, idid speak to them on Friday ,they told me not worry its a very normal thing , it is a benign condition. But even having to go under the general anaesthetic is freighting me. I pray to god its only benign. No history of cancer in my family, don’t smoke don’t drink lead a healthy enough life style.

Hi Banu

I sorry to read you are having a tough time at the moment. I thought you might find it helpful to read the BCC leaflet on introductal papilloma, it explains what it is, how it is confirmed, and the treatment or follow-up that may be required. If you would like to read this on line or order a copy just use the link below:-

Also as Sommer43 has mentioned please do give the helpline a call and talk through your concerns with a trained member of staff. The number is 0808 800 6000 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 to 5pm and Saturday 9 to 2pm.

Best wishes Sam, BCC Facilitator

The more I’m reading about everyone with a similar problem like mine, that’s the more scared I am now . It’s just that after they have the ducts removed they some how get bc. They are first told its benign and later it gets serious , I don’t understand.

Banu

WHile this is a benign condition, there is a possibility that any one of us could develop cancer, whether we have a benign condition or not!

The general aneasthetic is nothing to be concerned about, I had one last Wednesday, and I hate needles. The surgeon and the anaesthetists are fully used to patients being apprehensive, you will be fine and then you wake up and it is all over!

Perhaps try not to read too much, it will make you confused and concerned more than you have to be!
