Not had radiotherapy yet 3 more chemo then i have the pleasure of it.I have a large tub of E45 at home does it help with the soreness you are supposed to get x
hi ladies , i am 4 weeks post rads , i used the boots aqueous cream when having my rads, slapping it on in the changing room as soon as a treatment was done , and straight after shower when skin was slightly damp, also holland and barrat 99.9 % aloe vera is highly reccomended although if you are going to the q, e in bham dont tell radiologists if you use this - their research hasnt involved aloe vera , but i did clear it with onc , let the air at your breast as much as you can , i used to lie on bed with cream on and fan directed at breast , i did get small amount of blistering about 2 weeks after treatment finished and saw my doc straight away , all healed very quickly with prescribed cream , good luck to both of you, keep posting and remember there is nothing you cant ask on here xxxxp.s most breaks in skin are in the crease area
s - under breast and in armpit , i found cotton hankies invaluable and comforting when placed in the creases when skin got sore x
Hello Everyone
I just joined this site today. I am in Switzerland and have just started a 6 week course of radiation for DCIS
along with the Tamoxifen that I have been on for a couple of months now. (apparently the standard treatment for my condition) I have had 4 treatments so far and am told the effects are accumulative and that I won’t start to feel too tired for a while yet. I’m usually quite athletic and am hoping to keep running and cycling for as long as it’s comfortable.
I’m wondering when I should expect to have any skin issues. I’ve been given cream to put on every night, but told not to swim in chlorinated water or wear spandex etc (sport clothes) so my training will be limited anyway. (fortunately the lake is still just about warm enough for a 15 min swim).
Looking forward to “meeting” a few people here.
Hi, I had four weeks of radiotherapy and didn’t start getting sore till week 3. It became very sore a week after I finished treatment. I hadn’t realised that the radiotherapy keeps working for a week to ten days after treatment. I used E45 (as recommended by the radiologist)from the very beginning, using it several times a day and night as the weeks went on. It really helped. Don’t forget to cream under the arm area as well. I realised that after the first week I hadn’t been covering the whole area. It does make a difference. Everyone is different, some of the ladies I know had very little soreness. Hope it goes well for you. x
Avoid E45 if you have a lanolin allergy.
It’ll make you sore and give you a red rash and you’ll get big weeping blisters if you’re really unlucky. That’s on intact, healthy skin, not on rads-sensitive skin.
It suits many people but it’s certainly not a cure-all.
Take care.
