I wonder if anyone can offer any advice to me. I am 50 and was diagnosed March 2013, had chemo and rads and now take Tamoxifen, which I started Sept 13. I also have 3 weekly Herceptin. Following chemo, I went into the menopause. Side effects from the Tamoxifen are manageable-the main one being the sweats. However, for about the last 4 weeks, my arms and chest itch like mad. There is no rash as such, just little spots where I’ve scratched. I know itching can occur with the menopause but wonder if it may be the Tamoxifen?? I’ve tried all the usual stuff ie stopping perfumed body moisturiser, body spray etc but no improvement. Any help anyone???
Hi Mac,
I had itching, but had it before starting first Anastrazole then Tamoxifen. I tried all sorts and it was suggested that I take an anti histamine tablet. But I was already taking them and had done for years. Eventually my GP changed my anti histamine (from Cetirizine to Loratidine) and that seems to be working. If you don’t already take them and don’t want to bother your GP, they can be bought quite cheaply from Asda or Tesco (own brands are cheapest) just to give them a try before having to get your GP to investigate further.
Good luck.
