EC-T chemotherapy

Hi im 54yrs and joining the club again!
My 2nd diagnosis. 2010 i had x3 dcis er+ pr+ her2 neg. MX followed by Diep the following year. I found a lump at Easter 13 yrs on, just to the side of my scar and have just had a lympectomy. Again er+ pr+ her2 neg sentinel nodes clear, CT and PET Ct clear but an area of suspicion around my inner mammary node chain which looks inflammed and they cant tell why. Surgeon said it was a recurrence but my oncologist disagreed and thinks its a new primary so sent me for a DX Oncotype test which gave me a score of 37 and changed my treatment plan from radiotherapy to EC-T chemotherapy which i start on 2nd September. Has anyone else had similar with the inner mammary nodes? I didnt even know they were there! Any tips for handling chemo? Cold capping?

@luckyduck1 - I’m so sorry you are having to go through this again! I’ve had chemo recently and I think the first thing I would say is that it wasn’t as bad as I expected - I was terrified! I did cold cap and it worked well for me so let me know if you want any more info - there are also several threads with tips on how to get the best out of it. Some people don’t like the extra time that it adds to chemo sessions so you may want to try it for your first session and see how you go. I tried to eat as well as possible during chemo, drank lots of water to flush it out of my system and walked a lot to keep up my fitness. however, some people find it exhausting and just rest up - whatever works for you! There is a monthly chemo starters thread on here and I would encourage you to join the one for your start date. You can then go through chemo with other people at the same time and it is SO helpful and supportive. Good luck x

Ivy-cat, thank you so much for your positive post. Im a fellow Pollyanna and i do think that having a positive attitude will help through the dark days. Obviously everyone reacts differently to the drugs and i wont know until i get started. Waiting is the worst but i like to be prepared for the best and worst case scenarios. Im determined to do the cold cap but have bought a couple of turbans from totally twisted in case, which are cool. Thanks for the tips, i’ll definitely check out those groups. X
