eczema sufferer and radiotherapy

Started my radiotheraphy, had only two sessions and my boob has broken out and is bright pink. Worried about going forward as I’m allegic to the cream they hand out too - have been for years.  Any fellow sufferers, or sound advice/suggestions? I’ve never had eczema on boobs before only arms/neck/face/legs and only  a handful of serious break outs as an adult but when it takes hold it takes ages to clear.

Hi Shona

I dont have eczema and I havent started rads yet I do have very sensitive skin which reacts to lots of stuff so I just wanted to say you dont have to use the cream they gave you if you are allergic, dont put up with using stuff you know will irritate your skin even more ask about other things you can use then ask your GP for a prescription. Some ladies use aveeno or diprobase etc so there are lots of choices it may not be in your hospital depts policy or budget to provide an alternative but its very likely your GP will prescribe any alternative as its in their interest too to ensure your skin is OK

Big hugs

Thanks that’s really helpful. When I said I was allergic to aqueous cream the nurse said there’s no point in giving you anything else then as you’ll be allergic to that too. This is not necessarily the case so I’ll ring my GP
Good luck starting. My boob has calmed down a lot this morning

Shona, I’m an eczema sufferer and been using Aveeno with no problems. I used to use aqueous cream but found that it varied greatly between manufacturers and the only one I could tolerate was Boots own brand which at one stage I couldn’t get from there, they sold a different one. So the nurse is wrong! It does tend to be trial and error when it comes to what we can tolerate unfortunately! Definitely have a word with your GP

Thanks! Yes I’ll try that. I’m worried because when it does start its hell to shift it. I had one break out that went into psoriasis and it took three years before it cleared. It’s definitely trial and error. I tend to sniff things and if they are problematic I can feel my skin prickling straight away but then sometimes something I’ve used for ages sets me off.
Three days break now!

Hi, Boots derma care cream is very gentle, but also look on Chemist Direct which has a huge range of creams and brilliant delivery. I asked if they would deliver to me on holiday in Lanzarote if I ran out and they would!

Also I’ve been treating myself to  la roche-posay thermal spring water spray, Boots do 3 for 2, and it’s SO calming and refreshing and cooling. It seems to help the cream to keep working.

I know its an expensive way to buy water, but it’s just so cooling and I’m woith it…

Hope you find something that works for you, xx

Thanks. Oh I could do with a holiday in Lazarote! After my radiotherapy I’m going to head for the sun  spring water spray sounds a good idea and thanks for the tip. I’ve never tried boots derma care. I’ll give it a go xx

I started using foderma when my son was less than12 years old. Like me, he is prone to eczema. My doctor recommended this product and warned me that at first, his eczema might get slightly worse, but would very quickly get better in no time. He was absolutely right.

I’m a 44 yr old woman who’s always hot flashing. As a result, i got very dry skin related to eczema i tensed.i do not knoe to cure the my doctor suggested me the treatment for eczema is foderma. It was awesoooome  on the skin.does good better best

I suffer with severe hand eczema. I have been in pain for over 5 years . My hands have been extremely bad for the last 7 months. Over the years I have tried all types of creams, prescriptions and over the counter. Nothing has ever worked.I was pleasantly surprised at foderma how it soothed my sore hands, even with this first application. On the second day I was shocked at how my hands felt and the pain wasn’t as bad, I can honestly say I saw a difference .

I have suffered from hand and face eczema for last 2yrs and foderma serum is the only stuff I have found that helps my skin. Absolutly love it. My skin is so happy now and my eczema is clearing up. I have used other creams in addition to this to aide in my eczema clearing such as steroids but foderma serum was the icing on the cake, brought moisture back to my hands when other lotions only irritate.
