Hi Ladies its so good to be able to come on here and chat to everyone , cant believe how much snow weve got hope it goes by Wednesday otherwise I will be sledging to hosp lol,
Heather really hope your hubbys ok , all my lot are starting to get better ,they have put mam in a brace for her back she has broken 2 bones and they have said its going to take 4-6 months as her bones are so thin with osteoporosis but at least shes still here to tell the tale . I have managed to get all my Christmas shopping done and wrapped before I go in all I have to do is write the Christmas cards this is so not like me I am usually running around like someone mental on Christmas Eve . Well hope you are all feeling better will be on after my op take care love liz xx

Hi liz, just want to wish you all the best, let us know how you are? Ta.

Only the very lightest sprinkling of snow last night in Manchester which I was amazed at as expected loads. Off to see harry potter tonight, fil babysitting. The boys are great tho youngest ate a wAshing liquid capsule last night…seems ok today though!

Done one childrens party this morning znd off to two tmrw. I Am officially multi-partying! Went without cap/wig today and saw a few second glances but no third glances. Blummin cold tho!

Take care everyone, sandra I was thinking of you ystrdy and hope u are getting through.

Vickie

OH Poo !! I missed 200 !
Well done girls , are´nt we fabulous ? Thanks Maria !!
I´ve lost track of some things , most importantly , who slept with whom to get "Take That " tickets , Carol , Vickie or Karen , and how do I get hold of him ? I would´nt have to give my body , I think if I threatened to sleep with him I would get the tickets no probs !! ( it woks on my OH !)
Welcome to Kenzil , hop eall goes well with your op , hope to see you posting soon . ç
Heather , another one of us having a nightmare time , just hope your oh appoint . comes through soon . We miss you when you´re quiet you know .
Thinking about "Britains Got talent " . We also have Heather and Nell who are wizzes on bikes , ( well a motobility scooter can count .) so surelt while we are all rapping and scowling holding are pats , ( or in Sandra´s case , someone else´s ) Nell and Heather can do wheelies on bikes , or how about skate boards ? Hey girls , we could win this !
I was always normal when working Carol , but I´ve been luckt all my life to have friends who have always been as "up " for things as I . No matter what my age , I´ve always been up for a laugh . Very very lucky , i have a few fabulous friends here , not too many , cos I don´t collect them , but we enjoy life and try to make the best of things even when sometimes life turns nasty and kicks us in the teeth . two of us have had BC , one lost her OH last year , one´s OH suffered a stroke four years ago , another´s OH has dweveloped epilepsy . Thats out of eight of us , we help each other as much as each of us wants , and I find this thread just like that , full of ladies who try hard to get through whatever life throws at them . Like Sue ( welcome Sue !) I think laughter is the best medicine , but it´s not always easy to take . We need to be able to cry and rant and rave at what we´ve been dealt without censure from others . So , generally I see the funny side of life , but when I can´t I get really arsy !!
I still have´nt any photo´s of me on the computer ! Honestly , although I had my hair done yesterday , quite a bit shorter than normal , and it does look better , less wispy . I know what Maria means about the "Diana " look , I did´nt think it was sly , but it was definately contrived , on the other hand , she was shy to start with . If I tried to emulate that look , I would just look daft , shy , I am not !!
Looking at the weather over there , all I can say is …sorry !
Awful , is´nt it ?
We´re having torrential rain , but it´s not too cold in the day , gets very cold at night . Thats cos the houses don´t retain any heat .
I´m off now , get things sorted out so that i can sit in peace and watch "Stricktly " GO Ann !!
Then "X Factor " Please go Wagner ( and that Katie )
luvKanga
ps , Well we were all wrong about Jackie then were´nt we , though I must say some were more wrong than others !! Who said she was going "up north "? Enjoy Jackie !!
pps Well Vickie , your youngest will definately be “whiter than white !” With the weather as it is , I´m suprised you went without your wig , seems like 2wigweather to me !
Liz , stop showing off !! next you´ll be telling us you´ve written all your cards as well ! Poor mum , still it´s for the best .

Hello Everyone,

Isabelle – hope you coping ok with all your work & grandchildren – it sounds as if it is too much really for you. I am now on half-pay from my work but have managed to get contribution based Employment Support Allowance which has topped my pay back up to what is was before. I only work part-time, but half-pay wasn’t great for the run up to Christmas. I have a very understanding manager who has been through treatment for cancer herself (not bc) but she knows what I have had to go through and is not expecting me to be back at work anytime soon. Anyway you get some rest when you can.

Heather – how is your OH getting on? As Sandra said it never rains but it pours, or snows as the case seems to be at the moment. This cold snowy weather must be a nightmare for you getting out and about. Have you got a snow-plough for the front of your scooter?

Sandra – hope everything went smoothly yesterday and that it wasn’t too harrowing.

Denise – are you feeling any better? What a horrible time for you ending up in hospital. How many peachys left for you now – is it two? (Sorry I don’t have a little notebook to keep track)

Karen – your calendar picture is beautiful, though your son’s comments were funny – I’m sure he meant well really!

Jackie - hope it’s hot & sunny for you with no snow! Congrats on your 1 year anniversary since dx, a happy milestone for you.

Vickie – my those boys keep up on your toes! How was Harry Potter, must get round to taking daughter to see it, son who is 15 is no longer interested in Harry Potter as it’s not “cool” so we shall leave him behind.

Carol – how many tattoos did you get for your rads? Well done on handing in your notice – time to be a lady of leisure. Not managed to get to the allotment today – it’s covered in snow!

Maria – what a lovely view you have. Snow always looks beautiful until you have to walk in it, drive in it and then it becomes a pain. OH cleared our drive this morning but then moaned about his sore shoulder so I think it might be my turn next time!

Tracey – are you still under your duvet? Might be the best place to be with this weather – it’s currently -6 deg here and snowy, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Kanga – yes I can imagine you are a great friend to have; you cheer us all up so I am sure you do the same for your friends out there with you. Never a dull moment!

Liz – Christmas shopping all done!! I haven’t even bought any Christmas cards yet never mind done any shopping. Please can you come and do mine for me! Good luck for the op on Wed – what are you having done?

Sue – welcome.

Ladies, I want to ask for some help. I have been invited to a party next weekend but am not sure about going. I do want to go, but up until now everywhere I have been has been with friends or family who all know about the bc. This party won’t be, the friend who has invited me knows and I may know some of the people there, but what do I say if people ask how I am or comment on my hair (very short and very grey!). This invite has made me realise how insular my life has become with having bc and that I am not keen on venturing out beyond my safe circle of friends and family who know what I have been through. Perhaps I making too much of it, but I was never a confident, outgoing person before bc, sometimes I think I have lost more of me than just my breast.

Take care everyone,

Jill

Hi Ladies,
Jill, just do whatever you feel best doing with regards to the party. I’ve decided that I’m doing things my way from now on. That’s the only way to be I suppose (if you can), don’t let people rope you into doing anything your not happy with but go and enjoy yourself if it feels comfortable for you. It is much easier if you are with people who know what’s been going on in your life latley.
I just feel that since bc I want to do as I please to a great extent. I have packed a couple of my clients at work in now and I’m only going to those I want to look after, and cutting back work in general. You get no medals for doing it all. The only trouble is the less I do at work the more I do at home.
Liz, best wishes for your op this week, will be thinking of you, I hope all goes well and you are back home quickly and on the mend.
I wish I was as organized as you with your Christmas cards. I have started my Christmas shopping but I have done most of it on the internet, it’s better than trailing round the shops, I’m getting lazy, can’t be bothered… Keep in touch, thinking of you xxx
Sandra, I hope you are doing ok today, take care xxx
Vickie, thanks for the pm I’m sure I’ll catch up with you on F/B.
Don’t get worn out with all of the parties xxx

Thinking of you all,

Best Wishes and hugs to all,

Isabelle xxx

Have found u and sent u a friend request izzy, you are now an official technical genius! Girls, have a lookin my friends under R for izzy.

Ok , so I must come under "dumb or dumber " , but why Vickie does Izzy come under “R” ? Is this to do with facebook ? I´m slightly frightened of it , heard so many awful stories about people pinching your identity , raiding your bank accounts etc . Suppose because i don´t really understand it , and so cannot see any benefit to it as opposed to emails .
Jill , I agree with Isabelle . Do only what you are comfortable with . I too , have got more selfish , and refuse to be amongst people if I don´t want to be , or don´t particually like them . Certainly , if people ask how you are be honest . Tell them a."I´m absolutely fine at the moment " b. “Feel like S*** today .” “This has been a bad year for me as I´ve had to have treatment for BC , really looking forward to christmas and next year ,” Most people will I´m sure guess by your hair that you´ve had chemo . In the area where I live the old bush telegraph was way ahead of my telling people and so practically everyone knew that I had BC ,but I am a confident person , and I´m sure it must be quite daunting if you´re not . I do hope that you go and feel happy and at ease .
Now girls I have a problem , not quite sure what it is , but think this could be big .
I beleive we could have an unidentified spanish monster lurking in our garage !
We have a small house , with a large garage , so an awful lot of our food products are out there on shelves , or in large plastic boxes .
I am , I readily admit ,the queen of horders . Cannot help it , always been the same . If there is ever a world food shortage , you´re very welcome to come here , we´ll be ok for months , and i mean months !
So I have all this stuff , tins of everything you could think of , all sorts of pasta , rice , museli , tea bags of all varieties , shelves of spices boxes of Jack´s gravy granuales poil , vinegar …etc…etc .
The other day , I noticed that one of the boxes of gravy granules had been opened …by teeth !! This is on the third shelf up the wall , with no back to the shelf .How did it get there ?
So , reluctantly , we put down mouse traps. We do hate doing this , as both Oh and I are very much animal lovers . We kill virtually nothing …mosquitoes and spiders excepted .( well OH does´nt kill spiders , but I just have 40 fits every time !! )
Next day , all the cheese was gone , the traps had gone off , nothing in them . B***** clever mice these we said , and re- sorted them , plus a couple more bigger rat Traps . Our rats here in the country are not like the nasty grey things you find in sewers and on tips . These are cute smaller rodents with light brown and white coats , really quite pretty , they also climb trees .
Today , well now we´re worried .
Nothing caught in the traps , cheese gone , AND …something with extremely sharp teeth has bitten into a brand new Heinz Tomatoe Sauce bottle ( plastic ) and drunk a good quarter of the sauce !!
NOT ONLY THAT ! I had a `packet of four small nan breads ( garlic and correander no less ) two in one half of the packet and two in the other . Guess what ???!!!
He´s only eaten two of them !! There is no sign anywhere of crumbs , sauce , nothing .
So we have given home to something big and strong , very dexterous , that likes tomatoe sauce with its garlic and correander nans !!
Obviously it´s partner has no objection to garlic !!
So now , we have curry tonight and my OH has no nanns !! Mine are alright , he left those.

Suggestions please girls !
luvKanga

Well Kris, Did I tell you I had a mouse in my New kitchen, how he got in I don’t know, he was under the sink, where my bin is too. He was sooo sweet ( I only saw him once) I’m afraid to say, I bought some rat poison, which apparently dries them up so even if you don’t find them they don’t smell or anything when they are dead- You will need a lot those though, my little mouse ate the stuff for 3 days before I presumed he died.
Jill, You have a great excuse to do what you want to do. To go or not to go, that is the question. DO what you want. Don’t forget you are part of an elite bunch of ladies and you have got through what not everyone can. So you must be proud of your status.
Isabelle you sound like me before bc, if it0s quiet at work I did more stuff at home. Look after number one and that’s you.
Vickie, I guess I will soon be your friend on face book, my problem is I can’t cope with too many friends. I’m a friend of Sandra’s and my photo will be very old of a little child, and my name is my husbands. So now you can find me !!!
Hugs to you all and special thoughts to Avril (who I hope is reading if not posting) and Sandra, and Heather and Karen…oh dear, you are all worth special thoughts
Hugs for now and some for later when you need them
Maria

evening, ladies

no snow here yet!! No. son is on his way home from the Lakes (weekend break with non girl friend) driving very slowly through heavy snow.
Jill, went to the allotment today to put fleece over my broadbean seeds I sewed last week ( a bit like bolting the door!)very, very cold, all the outdoor taps frozen–bbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I have 6 tatoos.
Kanga, sounds like maybe a rat.my daughter kept fancy rats when she was in her teens, they could chew through anything. I’m on FB and don’t really understand how it works so don’t go on much.
Isabelle, will look for you on FB. I feel that BC has given me the power to pick and choose what I want to do. I have almost finished my Christmas cards but can’t get hold of envelopes for them as I want red ones. might have to settle for white. I have done some of my Christmas shopping on-line too. some of them arrived today, it’s like Christmas come early! even though they are not for me!

is it me or are the profesional dancers on Strictly wearing less and less. they will be just wearing their underwear soon!
Maria, has your mouse gone then? must be nice and warm in your house for little mice!
I’m off for my Herceptin planning tomorrow, so I can book a week in Scotland for March when I have my dates. first RADS on Tueasday

Love to everyone

Carolxx

Maria, I can’t find you on facebook still!!! I am at the end of sandras friends so next time you are on send me a friend request.

Kanga, I thought uou had a vampire in your garage til I read the that the garlic naans had gone, phew! Facebook is fine, you can put as little or much info as you want on it. You don’t need a photo or even to post really, you can just join and make some friends and read their stuff and look at their photos. Have a go!

V

Hi Kanga,
Ok so lets narrow this down, tomatoes are toxic to cats so l suppose tomato sauce could be too, so if you haven’t found a dead cat in your garage, we can count cats out!

Garlic is also toxic to cats and dogs, so if you have found no dead dogs in your garage, we can count dogs out! Is jack ok? Do hope so!!!

Naan bread causes bloat in dogs! So check if Jacks tummy is bigger than yours!!

So your gravy granules have been opened! Could be the bisto kid!! Do you remember him?

Rats are used in scientific research because of their intelligence! So if the traps are sprung and the cheese has gone, sounds like an intelligent rat to me! probably Mummy, Daddy and all their little children think it is Christmas, probably going to invite all the aunties and uncles and little cousins for Christmas! not forgetting the grandma and granddad!!

You can’t put rat poison down, because of Jack, and it is a painful death for the little furry friends, thins the blood and their blood vessels burst, Ok Maria! and yours came back for a third helping! you must have killed an entire family!!

Like you kanga l cannot bear to kill anything, perhaps a trap and then let them loose in the forest! Or a neighbours garden that you don’t like!!

Rats and Mice have always been able to climb up wooden structure, so no need to put a ladder up to the shelf.

Now with regards to the sharp teeth, of course sharks have very sharp teeth, in fact they shed 35,000 teeth in a lifetime! So have you found any teeth in your food? Although of course they also need water, so highly unlikely they would be in your garage!
What about your swimming pool, noticed any sharks in there?

So you think he didn’t eat your naan bread! but did he wee over it?
white and brown rats, are you sure they are not guinea pigs?

Once again you have made me laugh, had a rubbish tearful weekend, grandsons have been with Mum and Dad all weekend, but are back tonight, so had to get myself together!!

Thinking of you all, but not up to individual hi’s!
Hugs
Sandra xxx

Maria, worked out I think, who you are amongst Sandra’s friends on FB, I am there just above Vickie with my baby so you can befriend me if you like! Huddling on the sofa, very cold down here, where ate the flushes when you need one? X

Sandra, my god I’m never gonna cross you as you have a far too detailed knowledge of poisonous substances to be safe…

Vickie, you couldn’t find me, so I sent you are request, I hope it’s you !!
Tina, I couldn’t find you, above Vickie there is a grey face that does not have your name.
Sandra, You know too much…
I do hope you all will not stop being my friend because of what I did to my mouse, it was not an easy decision, but I had enough hassles in my life at the time, having just had my posh op. I nearly fainted having to bend down to clean out the droppings, no, I am not that squeamish, but I felt 8 months pregnant at the time.
Thank goodness Wagner has gone, now I can sleep tight.
Sweet dreams
Maria

I accepted maria!!!

Having seen how mice are dealt with by my cat, I am happy to still bf your friend!

Vickie,
You have no worries about crossing me! You could cross me a million times and l wouldn’t harm you! Can’t even swat a fly without saying sorry to it first!!
As for my knowledge of poisons! All my information comes from my well read son! aka Geek! He is a walking encyclopaedia! Full of usless information, always filling my head with his useless information, but from time to time it comes in useful!

Maria,
What a fantastic memory you have! you can remember being 8 months pregnant!!
No l wouldn’t stop being friends with you just because you have left a poor little mouse to bleed to death! heaven forbid! And yes l have used the stuff myself, or at least oh has! because there is nothing worse have having little furry creatures gnawing into your food! just hate the idea of how they die, l suppose a trap is quicker, as long as l don’t have to look at it!

Kanga, you started all this talk, can you change the subject please!
we will have the rspca after us!

Tina, Hope the bible arrives, posted it on Thursday.

Had an appointment come through to see the onc on the 10th December! early christmas present!

I think I am the only person in the UK not watching The X-Factor! Or indeed the jungle program! Just never got into it! My dogs are my pride&joy, two Shetland Sheepdogs, they would run a mile upon sight of any rodent! Very chilly here, not much snow yet. Had my stitches out this am. Hope it will look better than it does at the moment! Hope everyone is coping with the weather! Love to you all! X
