Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Hi Carol
I also have a problem with my glasses and my wig, the bits that go over my ears get caught in the meche of the wig, it does not hurt but it is uncomfortable. Maybe someone has an solution.
Hugs Maria
PS i did not see anything about pro-biotics in the publication proposed by Lucy

Hi Carol
Well we do have a two other rooms with a tv in, but neither have my nice cosy swivel/rocker, which l refuse to give up! even my grandchildren tell granddad off it he sits in it! telling him it is grandma’s chair! not that he sits in it much, he complains it give him motion sickness! what a wimp!
And l can’t expect him to sit on a dining chair or stand in the kitchen! although he could do the ironing while he is watching it!
No tiredness as yet! although the mouth tonight has a strange taste to it, not nasty just different!
My wig lady asked if l wore glasses, but l only do for reading, but she said if l have my wig on, make sure l wear the glasses over the hair and not under the hair as we would normally do, not sure if this helps, if not stick to your super silk bandana! although you could always try contact lenses! or cut your ears off! oh no perhaps not your glasses would fall off!!
Hugs
Sandra xxx
PS l wish you girls wouldn’t post while l am doing so, you are all too fast for me! Maria not sure if the above will help, over hair or contact lenses or cut off the ears! all worth a try xxx
PPS no l didn’t see anything about the probiotics either, and when l phoned and asked the helpline, they knew nothing about it! or any other food you could not eat, just to be careful of takeaways xxx

Re the pro-biotics, did you ladies get a wee red book called Your Chemotherapy Record to take with you each treatment. There’s a page to record your SE’s each time & the nurse writes in the date for your next treatment & any other drugs they’ve given you etc. If you have one of these, that list of stuff is on page 6.
I never had a problem, don’t like any yogurt, but I think it’s quite scary how we’re told such conflicting things. Somebody must be right & somebody must be wrong, so half of us could be doing totally the wrong things & we are trusting all these professionals to keep us safe!
I was also told no herbal medecines by the way.
Sandra, so pleased you’re feeling so well, I never had those injections so maybe that’s what makes the difference. Don’t fancy the back pain though, I don’t do pain well. Are you able to take anything for it ? I know they say be careful with paracetamol cos it can mask a temperature - or maybe we haven’t all been told that either ?

Hi Divvy,
No not taking anything for the pain at the moment, just putting up with it, as with everything else! feel as though my body is taking enough at the moment!
Yes l have a booklet called Chemotherapy record booklet, mine is a photo copy and not an original, and page 6 is about 'how will you feel while you are having chemotherapy? nothing about food, the only section about food is on page 12 and it says Haematology patients should avoid unpasteurised dairy products and take away food, but actimel is not unpasterurised?

No boobs, no hair, OK, no ears ? No thank you !! Wigs and glasses, I’m sure someone has the answer.
Went to my 4th qi-gong session this afternoon and I am beginning to feel the force. Last week I kept feeling dizzy during the session and had to sit down, but this week it was better.
Today 2 young handsome men delivered the cupboards, fridge-freezer, sink and oven and dish washer and they (the equipment, not the men) are all sitting there tantalizing me. Nothing is connected up or fixed into place, but I am getting exited, looking forward to filling the drawers and cupboards and wondering where I will put what. Not sure when though.
I hope no one is wobbling today
Hugs Maria

Hi, Maria

Sandra got the answer re the glasses problem from her wig lady-mine didn’t mention it at all. been waring the glasses over the wig then brushing some of it over the glasses- much better.

Handsome men in your kitchen-where is it you live?
I had a new kitchen about 5 years ago with all built in appliances, still love it. Give thought to where you put things as, if your like me, thats where they stay even if it’s the wrong place. I found out about a yoga class not far from me-will give it a try. Is it anything like qi-gong/

Hi Everybody, Well I am back, I have had this awful flu virus I think. It just polaxed me (think that’s the right word lol) but it just took me off my feet. I couldn’t get out of bed, couldn’t eat, stay awake do nothing. It lasted for about 10 days, I was starting to get really worried that the cancer was back, but my only consolation was that hubby was the same the week before. So I kept telling myself, don’t worry its just a bug, but sometimes its easier said than done.Anyway it did me one favour, I was planning to start my diet last week, but I didn’t have to diet because I couldn’t eat anyway lol. So I lost about 8lbs, you cant tell though because I have got loads to lose. I have but on about 3 stone since I was diagnosed. After I went onto the chemo, then on Arimidex, and I also have to have herceptin the weight has piled on. I went to see my Gp because no matter what I tried the weight wouldn’t come off. So he said until I come off some of the medication there is nothing much I can do. I am coming off some tablets that do cause weight gain that I was taking before I was diagnosed with BC.These pills were for other problems I have. They are very addictive tablets so I can only come off them gradually, so I have these pills in 300mg, 200mg, 100mg, and 50mg, and I also have other tablets that I have to take, and a morphine patch I have to have on all the time. I have enough pills to wipe out the village were we live lol oh and I get in such a mess with them. I have one of those organiser things but I still get mixed up. Anyway enough about me, back to business and wigs and glasses, I use to wear my glasses under my wig, it felt safer, I just use to pull the side bits down over my glasses frame, and I never had a problem, and that is unusual for me lol. Has you will see I have put a new pic up of me with my new hair. All the curls are natural, I just wash my hair and let it dry naturally, then I comb it and tweak it to how I want it to go. It is great because my hair was pump water straight before chemo, so you see ladies it does come back, I just didn’t want the weight to come with it, but we have to be grateful for small mercy’s lol
Hope all you ladies are feeling not to bad, I have been reading your posts and there seems to be a lot of you going through chemo at the minute. I will send you loads of ((((hugs )))) I was going through it this time last year, so I know how your feeling, there is a light at the end of that tunnel, so good luck to you all.
Anyway ladies better go,
Love to you all
Heather

Sandra xxx

Hi, Heather, thought it had gone a bit quiet!

love the hair-mine’s on the way out, i’ll be pleased if it comes back like yours
My Onc told me some ladies put on 3 stone-I thought he was joking. I t seems he wasn’t. I will have to try and cut down on the chocolate.

posted 3 times !!

sorry

Heather, you look lovely and the dog is gorgeous. Hey if you have a morphine patch you must have some pretty bad pain, does it do the trick ? You always sound so bright. Thank you for the reminder that there is light at the end of the tunnel, we do need reminding sometimes.
Carol, I love your new look too, although I miss not seeing your “baby”. I think yoga is a great idea, I do the qi-gong because there are sessions in my village, but I think I would prefer yoga (I did yoga a million years ago and enjoyed it) Thanks for the tips about the kitchen, you are right about putting things in the right place, but with a pearly mother brain, I don’t know what the result will be.
Sandra, have you worked out face book yet ?
Lots of hugs to all
Maria

No Maria, still trying, oh and it is peachy mother, not pearly mother
Lol Hugs

Hi Ladies,
Maria, congrats on the new kitchen appliances…remember to leave them when you need to sleep…they will still be there tomorrow;-) a brand new kitchen will be agreat tonic for you and I’m sure you will be putting it to good use…don’t forget to invite us all to the grand opening!!

Sandra, you are certainly confusing Maria with your anagram lol, hopw you are still coping well and having lots of good times

Heather sorry you have been ill, glad you are back and I must say looking gorgeous…send me a list of your medications cos if its that that makes your hair look so good I want some!!!

Vickie and Sarah hope you are both feeling ok and taking it easy…hugs to you xx

Diwy…I didn’t get any kind of booklet to keep records in…I feel left out now!! I have been keeping my own record though (when I can remember to) but I want an official one haha

Carol…Vickie suggested we may have a get together if you are interested. My hair is now on its way out too…I lost some eyebrow on way home from Southamton yesterday, it was there when we set off back and gone on arrival at home…it was quite a shock as I wasn’t expecting eyebrows to go just yet:-(( will need to investigate getting some of the transfer ones to try out. My headhair seems to be exiting quite a lot now, I think I may have joined the shaven headed of us by the end of the week :-(( not happy but not too devastated about it as I was last week…funny (not in a laughing kind of way) how we cope with all of this but we do seem to find strngth from somewhere.
I will try to post a new pic of me and grandson (I apologise for unkempt hair but you know how it is)

Hope I’ve not missed anyone
Hugs to all and keep advebturing always
Hugs Suze xxxxx

hi everyone

love your new photo suze, your grandson is very cute. I went up to check my sons in bed earlier and my youngest was still awake and was bright blue all over his head and arms! He had found his brothers dinosaur magazine free paint and painted himself allover rather than going to sleep! Is it acceptable to call your own son a little sod???

I have felt much better this cycle than the last 2, i think the heartburn tablets have helped, plus the different anti sickness meds. I also feel like my body may be going with it a bit more, though that will no doub be slammed out of me when i change to tax next time!Just grateful i have some kind of appetite!

Glad everyone seems alrightish today. I just read a ( very long) series of articles on after treatment and what coping etc means, its recommended on another thread ( sorry for risking other threads, i don’t have the best track record of that!) but it was useful.

Take care evryone

Vickie

Hi Ladies
Suze love the new photo, whats going on with all these new photo’s l will have to get one put on, much longer and it will be a bald one.
Yes poor Maria, still not got it! mind you l haven’t got face book!!

Vickie, wash your mouth out! using such language on such a little treasure, just reminds me, my mum used to call my sons treasure, they use to say “don’t call us treasure grandma, sounds like you want to bury us” she probably did!
Hugs

on the basis of last night, i think they are both delightful, especially when the 2 year old fell out of bed at 1am and woke us all with the bang, then the 5 year old woke up with a bad dream at 2, then the 2 year old woke up another 3 times. Was one of those nights that just never seem to end but then never seemed to start either!

And that is why we love our children/grandchildren, they are full or surprises!! shame they dont keep them for the day time!

Hello Ladies,
I hope everyone has had a good day.
Heather it’s loverly to see you back, sorry to hear that you have been so poorly. Your new photo is great and what a loverly little dog !!
Salsasuzi, Your new picture is great too, what a loverly little boy, I bet you spoil him, he’s georgous!!!
I managed to speak to my BCN yesterday, she has been on holiday and the other week I had to ring the hospital to get my results, I spoke to another nurse who didn’t know me so she would’nt give me much information other than my SNB was clear and my margins were clear, I got the impression from her that all was well.
Now I find out from my own BCN that there were two lumps taken out ,not one and it’s grade two, not grade one as I thought, they are also still waiting for three lots of my results, and depending on the outcome of all of this I am not as out of the woods as I first thought! My BCN says that she is going to try and get the rest of my results sorted out by time I go for my six week check up next Wednesday, so at present I feel like I’m back to square one and waiting for results all over again! I should be used to this by now, but I must have been counting my chickens before they hatched!!!
So roll on next week and then I may get some proper answers.
Doesn’t this waiting drive you mad!!!

Best Wishes to everyone

Isabelle xxx

Hi Isabelle
Wasn’t expecting that, after your phone call to the bcn! thought you had good news, and obviously so did you!
Seems an awful long wait for the results? surely they must have them before that!
Just as you think you are over one thing, another comes and bites your…
Rubbish news for you, but fingers crossed for you, is it still radiotherpy, or is it wait and see now?
Hugs
