Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Sandra-you on Ecstasy? have I missed something-must be with not posting yesterday, Sorry about the lack of nipple, I thought we got one. I have not found time to get a decent bra yet so havn’t made an appontment for my falsy.

Further developments on the new fish in our pond. you will, no doubt, be pleased to hear that they are all still alive and uneaten by the big boys. The new orfe are holding their own but all three shubunkins are skulking where the big boys can’t reach them-cowards!

Hi Crazy gang, wow you’ve all been so busy it has took me two days to catch up with all your posts. Has you know I had a hectic weekend, visitors both days, it was lovely on Sunday though, my daughter son in law and there two boys came for lunch because It was her birthday. We had a lovely day, I know just how your feeling Sandra, this time last year I was going through chemo and wasn’t well enough to do any celebrating. This year has been different. We had a laugh though, my eldest grandson has just started to learn to drive, so on Sunday his dad insured my daughters car so he could take him out to practice. Well he didn’t know this, so has they all walked out to the car my Son in Law said ok Liam you are driving. Well I think it took him by surprise but he got in the drivers seat with my son in law sat with him and my daughter and my other grandson was sat in the back. Well to get to our house you have to go down a lot of lanes, they were just coming down the lane and a man was stood in front of them diverting them, and the air ambulance had landed in front of them. So my daughters youngest son pipes up "how did they know we would need an ambulance " lol but they didn’t panic and they got here safely, and he parked it better than his mum does. So Sandra I hope next year you are feeling a lot better. Oh by the way I have a nipple on my prosthesis, I didn’t on the first one, but I rang them a few months ago and asked if I could get a bigger one because I have put so much weight on. They said yes that would be ok and made me an appointment for the following week, and this one is bigger with a nipple.
Izzy, I didn’t train hubby he came like that lol it was strange when we first started to live together, we had both come from very domineering partners.I had always been use to doing everything, so the first meal we cooked together was a cooked breakfast. We sat at the table and he said “oh there isn’t no sauce” and my first reaction was to jump up and get it, but he said sit there I can fetch it, and I cried, that was the first time any one had done anything for me. And that’s how it has always been, we have both put on loads of weight since we met. I think it is the contentment, and we have had some rough things to deal with. We had only been together a few months and my wonderful dad was diagnosed terminally ill, and he died just before our first Christmas
together. Then the following year he found out his daughter was pregnant, but she is with her partner now and has another child and is a wonderful mum. Then the year after my dad died my wonderful mum was diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease. that was an awful thing to see. She died on Mothers Day 2004. Then things started to look up, we both had good jobs and then I was took ill with Fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, and arthritis all over the place so I had to pack up work. Then last year I was diagnosed with cancer, so in the last 8 years together we have faced things some people don’t face in a life time, but we got through it, but I don’t think I could have got through it with out him. Anyway Izzy, do you go on the quad bike ? I would be scared lol Good luck on Wednesday, I hope you get all your results so you know what’s happening. My hubby says he buries his head in the sand, It’s his way of dealing with it. He says has the problems come we will deal with them, but I don’t wont to know about them till they happen.
Libby, I have loads of stories, the sad thing is there all true lol Hope you had a good time at Kew, I went there a few years ago, and it was lovely.
Kris, glad the acupuncture went well, Love the verse, it is very true
Vickie you did have a good shop, the teal colour sounds lovely. I use to do that when I was trying on clothes, pull my wig off.I use to come out the changing room looking like I had been dragged backwards through a hedge, I bet the shop assistants wondered what I had been doing in there lol I use to wash my wig in baby shampoo, then put a gentle conditioner through the ends.
Carol, hows the fish doing ? do you think it is chemo and fish. We had a fish tank and fish last year when I was going through the chemo, hey there might be something in that. Sandra Maria have you got a hankering after fish lol
Gill, great to see you back again, glad you ok.
Maria, bet it was great getting your son there to get the jobs done you wanted. Good luck on Wednesday, hope things are better this time.
Lesley, (mum51) I never notice the picture, but I did have a look after it was mentioned, and thought it was you !!! like your new pic though
Well I have to go baby sit for my 2 youngest grandchildren today. Dad is at work and mum has got to go to school, because her eldest one starts school in September, the thing is my daughter will be his teacher. I had my herceptin yesterday, so this week I am usually very tired.
Ok peeps hope you have a good day,
Love Heather,
xxxxxxx

OK back by popular demand “The Photo”. Told my son he thought it was hilarious. Had a busy few days that’s why no posts. Went to friends Saturday and stayed overnight we had bacon and sausage cooked on the bbq for breakfast! Don’t you love this weather. Monday went to see peolple at the dance studio for a visit (I dance and used to teach there)then last night went to see a play at the local rep. I should have been in the play but had to pull out when I was diagnosed, stupid bc.
Going for my Reikh this morning then going to get out in the garden this afternoon for weed pulling.
My son had a fish from the fairground when he was little it was called James and lasted for a very long time. We have a fish pond in the garden and it is very restful being outside listening to the waterfall and watching the fish. My cat likes to sit by the pond too, She is a house cat but will go outside if we are out there,my fiance calls her Wussycat coz she is so timid.
Well he reached the suitcase down this morning so will have to start packing for our week in Wales looking forward to it hope this weather keeps up.Son and his girlfriend go to Glastonbury tomorrow hope they enjoy it and are safe.I know,I know he’s 22 he’ll be fine but I’m a mum.
Re: the “Secret” I agree it is a bit ott but I listen to it and pick the bits out that I think I can use think you have not to take it too seriously. Must admit some of the American voices are a bit “false”.

Hi everyone
Mum51, I am glad you had a good weekend, don’t we always worry about our “Little boys” how ever old they are. When do you go to Wales, I’m sure the break will do you good. Thanks for the old photo, I hope Sandra will be back soon to appreciate it.
Heather, I hope Liam’s driving was OK and he didn’t look up at the helicopter too much. I like your story about your first times with OH, he sounds great, but you have been through a lot since.
Carol, I’m glad the fish are still OK
Gill, well done on the hair cut, we can’t let peachy mother dictate everything
Vickie, i know what you mean about being “lovey exhausted” so normal, great stuff. Everyone seems to have fish !!
Sandra, where are you ?
Hugs all round
Maria

We go to Wales on Friday hope this weather keeps up.
Sandra where are you? Put the pic on mainly for you and you have dissapeared!

Lesley,You never know who is watching!!! yes it is me, just had a bit of a wobble yesterday. Been ok today, just trying to keep really busy. Thank you for the photo, hope those that didn’t see it appreciate it? xxx

Maria, Thank you for the email, and the ‘read’ xxx

I’ll be back…

Hugs all round from an ex wobbler!
Sandra xxx

Glad you are ok today those wobbles are horrid aren’t they.
I went for my reikh session to-day they really relax me so tonight I feel really tired. Going now want to watch Gok x

Hi everyone!
Just nipping in to say hello and hope all who are having/had treatment this weeek are fine and the ones who had it last weeek are getting some better days and the ones who have it next week are ok this week!! I think that covers us all haha.
Yes Maria…it’s a new thing…everyone has to have fish (in a bowl/tank or pond.) Everyone has to be spending lots in shops or on the net as these seem to be the new criteria for being on this adventure.
Sandra…hpoe you are ok and your wobbly bit has gone away. I’m getting quite nervous now as it’s peachy mother no2 for me on Thurs, blood test tomorrow and so scared that I will be like Carol and be sent home (or not allowed to go even) as we have no way of knowing till the tests are done. Tried ringing today to see if they tell you the results there and then but no one called back so am none the wiser (Vickie I need you to tell me as you are ahead of me).
Vickie hope you are still feeling ‘good exhausted’ and enjoying your teal world :-))

Mum 51 thanks for the photo …missed it first time round…now I know what all the fuss was about:-)

Heather hope you are ok and working on your next post to entertain us :-))

Feeling tired now…been resting all afternoon but still tired…hope that’s not a bad sign and it’s just cos of the warm weather…getting paranoid now especially as when I got to work my boss had a cold…panic panic panic so I worked in the office and canteen to avoid her (her suggestion) spent 3 hours trying not to breathe…actually I don’t think I am tired I think I am suffocated!!

Ok off to rest/do some work…house is now clean and ready for me to take a week out if I need, fridge is full of goodies and water cupboard fully stocked…I think I am ready…
oh the hair is nearly non existent:-( been wearing wig to work and had loads of compliments) was hot to wear it though and quite itchy, nice to get it off when I got home. Not nice having hair on clothes, floor, pillows, shower. It’s mainly gone from behind my ears and thinned out everywhere else…if I carry on receeding from the ears…willl I END UP WITH A MOHECAN???Scary thought. My 'friend ’ cut it in Friday and had the nerve to charge me 20quid for a dry cut…that hurt more than walking out and leaving my tattered locks on her floor:-(( (she offered to help when the time came as she knew it would be a sensitive time…would have been cheaper to buy clippers) grrrrrrr{:-((

Ok that’s my rant for today

keep well stay strong and have fun
Suze xxxxxx

Sandra, So glad you’re feeling better today.

Suze, Wow, you’re really organised, I done a big fruit shop today and bought crisps cos I remenbered I fancied them last time.
So, is your hairdresser “friend” still your friend. I went to mine to shave my head and she didn’t charge me anything then went with my wig for a trim and still wasn’t charges, she even took me upstairs out of the salon, which I thought was a sensative touch.

Fish still OK, Shubunkins still not venturing out!

Lesley, thanks for putting the picture back on-we need a bit of excitment to brighten our day!

Good luck to anyone having treatment this week

Carol x

hi everyone,

firstly, bloody hell lesley, i understand the fuss now! Proper naked lady on your photo! If i took my photo in my sons room, it would have thomas the tank engine and dinosaurs in the background, don’t want to think that in 20 odd years it will be naked women!

Suze, i will bring my clippers over the hill to your house and shave your head for free! What a cheeky hard faced mare, would have stuffed my hair down her throat before i left. The blood test was v quick, i went first thing. Its in a little wooden hut type building near the canteen, it looks like a field hospital from mash, though hawkeye didn’t do it! The nurses were really great, lovely and excellent at geting the sample quickly and mimimal pain. I parked on the oldham athlketic car park and went in throughthe ante natal entrance, and then walked up the hill and its over to the left, through a smallish square care park . You pay 3 quid to park but get £1.50 back if return in the hour. I was ten mins last time. The first time i went in, i said i was on chemo and they took me straight through. The second time a stroppy nurse/receprionist said just take a number and wait , theres only 3 people ahead, so i made a fuss and said my white blood cells were down. She begrugdingly went though to the nurses bit and a nurse came straight out and got me. V effective!

I dont think they give you the results that day, each time they have just told me the next day at the victoria unit when i asked what my counts were. Maybe they phone you on the wednesdayif your bloods aren’t alright?

Good luck with it though.

Sandra, glad your wobble has wobbled off, they are horrid arent they.

I have had a great great day, parks, paddling pools, garden centre, cakeand am lovely tired out again rather than ill tired. I so so so appreciate doing the things i used to think were mundane.

Hope evryone is ok, nemo the fish is alive and hopefully well still. My cat has only just noticed him ( it has taken her a week and a half!) but is now watching him swim round his expensive tank…

hope we all have a good nights sleep,

Vickie
xxx

suze, its over to the right, not the left, der!

Isabelle, Good Luck with your hospital appointment tomorrow, fingers and everything crossed xxx

Thanks Sandra, I’m glad it’s Wednesday, I’ll let you know how I get on today.

Have a good day everyone, best wishes,

Isabelle xxx

I left the "E " out sandra cos I thought you were getting too much "E " already ! Actually , thats a lie , I made a spelling mistake , not unusual for me .
Suze , I know it might sound strange , but why not wear a mask while peole have got colds . My friend did , as she said , no way did she want to bugger up her immune system cos of people coughing and sneezing all over her . You can buy them in do-it-yourself stores . You could always jazz it up by painting or sticking whiskers or teeth on it ! Then you can go and mug your hairdresser "friend " what a sensative , caring soul she turned out to be …Not !!
That fish will grow into a shark Vickie if you´re getting it to muscle up by swimming against the current . Get it a friend , but not one called “puss”.
What are you like Sandra , the mind boggles "Sandra tried baby boob but it was tooooo small ,mummy boob still did´nt fit , but DADDY BOOB was aaaaalright ! How about sticking one of those small water bottle tops on for a nipple . The only time mine were ever noticable was when I was pregnant .Glad your wobbles are gone today ,it´s not nice when your mind won´t behave itself , sometimes you cannot alter your thoughts no matter how much you try .
Where are you going to in Wales Lesley ? Hope the weather is good for you .
Thinking of you with your appointment tomorrow Isabelle ,
Kris

Sorry Isabelle tomorrow has come and you went today . Hope it was good news for you .I´ll check later .
Kris

Hi everyone, are you all enjoying the sunshine. I am not to good today, think it is the Herceptin, well I hope it is. I feel like I have the flu again, but I am hoping it is just an Herceptin side effect. I did look on the Herceptin site, and it said 40% of people take Herceptin experience flu like symptoms. I have been backwards and forwards to bed today, Bobby doesn’t know what’s happening, he keeps thinking it’s bedtime, then I get up lol oh the joys of cancer, or cancer treatments I should say now, because we don’t have cancer any more.
Maria, Liam is still driving, him and his dad keep falling out though lol How’s that kitchen of yours coming on, is it finished now ?
Sandra, are you still wobbling, or is that just the prosthesis lol Hope your ok, you have gone quiet !!!
Suzi, Good luck Thursday, did you say a friend cut your hair? that was awful of her to charge you anything. It is such a sensitive time for us, I don’t think people that have never been through it understand that. Hubby shaved my hair off, I just sobbed, didn’t cry that much when I lost a breast. All I was interested in the day I had my MX was having something to eat lol
Vickie, hope your treatments gone ok, is it today your going, I get mixed up with who’s going were when, and what for lol Sounds like you had a great day out the other day, aren’t they just the nicest days sometimes, just doing ordinary things.
Izzy, now I know you going for your results and treatment plan today. I hope it has gone ok for you, I will look in later.
Kris, love the bottle top idea for the nipple, I would never have thought of that. Perhaps you should go on dragons den and see if they will set you up in a business of making nipples for prosthesis lol
Well better go have some tea before I go to sleep again.
Take care,
Love Heather,
xxxxxxxx

I have just written loads and, Woosh-one press of the wrong button and it’s all gone!!

wnt for my blood check this morning, rang the Onc’s secretary later for the results, my WBC is 4.4 which I think is Ok but my lymphasite is low. never heard of that one but, hopefully I will be able to have my No 2 tomorrow.

heather-I have been told I am to have Herceptin after chemo and rads. Doesn’t sound too pleasant if it gives you the flu (symptoms anyway) It doesn’t seem to have affected your story telling too much!

Good luck tomorrow, Vicky & Suze-I take it you both go to Oldham for you treatment?

Carol xx

yes me and suze both at oldham with same lovely oncologist, though we had different surgeons i think.

Good luck with chemo tomorrow everyone,

xxx

Hello Ladies,
Well I went for my six week check today, the doctor was loverly as ever. He says that the lumps and pain I am still getting could last for about three months, so I’m glad it seems to be normal, and he was very pleased and congratulated himself on the neat scar, so far so good. I don’t have to see him again for three months.
The BCN gave me a copy of the understanding your pathology report which she had filled in with the details of the reports which she had previously told me about over the phone. Then she proceeded to tell me that all of my reports were STILL not back after six weeks, I think they are taking the micky!!! They are still waiting for the Hormone Receptor test and the HER-2 tests, and until they get them back I can’t get my onc app to organize my treatment wether it be chemo or rads I’m getting sick of waiting and now I just want to get on with it. They are waiting for the HER-2 tests to come back from Newcastle and say the doctor doing them is usually very slow and thorough, how slow can he be? The other test is being done at my own hospital and even that is taking ages.
Has anyone else had to wait this long or am I just being impatient?
Kris, glad Daddy boob fit well.
Lesley, I hope you enjoy your holiday and that it’s restful for you.
Sandra, hope you are feeling better today.
Heather, sorry you are not so well today, hope tommorow is better for you.

Hope everyone has had a good day,

Best Wishes,

Isabelle xxx
