Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Sandra-read your post back to front- wig washing-the hairdresser at the day hospice also told me I could wash it fabric conditioner but I’m going off the idea now, probably just wash it in cold water.
Hope you’re feeling better now after your strawberry binge.

Lesley, you seem to have triggered off some very naughty thoughts with your son’s poster. Us older ladies can get a tad excited!

lesley, forgot to say someone lent me a copy of The Secret. I listened to it a couple of times and, though I am a very positive person, I am really not into that sort of thing.

Sandra, There is a large pond on our allotment site and the geese come back every year to breed, also ducks this year and moorhens. Apparently the youg geese have normally flown by now but must have been late because of the awful winter.

Hi Ladies
Isaballe, hope you had a nice lazy day! l am sure you deserve it. That poor Asda man 32miles for a packet of biscuits! bet he was happy! do you have to pay extra delivery being so far out in the sticks? xxx

Vickie, Gosh you have been busy, a bit of useless information for you, when you tell people about your teal…The first recorded use of Teal as a color name in English was in 1917! Lol
Never knew you could still get fish at fairgrounds! the times my boys use to come home with fish! Expensive fish eh! lets hope it lasts!
You serious? l thought it was the first 5 days!! no one tells me anything! no l didn’t have a temp. although felt hot! but ok today.
Oh l love a curly wurly, l put them in the fridge for a bit, so they are nice and cold…going to buy one tomorrow…or two!!
That was funny, l could just imagine you looking at the photo trying to make something out!! l think Lesley should put the photo back on for a day or two, for everyone that missed it! What about it Lesley?xxx

Jackie, Yes we will ask Lesley to put her photo back on! you listening Lesley??? Fingers crossed for Thursday xxx

Carol, Oh those poor little fish, in murky water in the dark and with an Orfe chasing them, hope you sleep well tonight!!! xxx

Oh Vickie, did your wig really keep coming off? do you use tape on it? if not why not?

Hugs to all
Sandra xxx

Oopppss xxx

it must be tameside and glossop trusts decision as i know that consultants for christies who work for satellites at other trusts do give the jabs. Ask again! There is a complicated system where your own nhs trust has ownership of you and has to pay christies for their care of you, but i think your has to pay medicines etc. all v complex.

I washed my wig for the first time this week, used sainsburys basics baby shampoo as it seemed not to have a no tears formula and apparently the no tears formula are a no-no for wigs. It washed easily and dried really well, though was freaky washing my “hair” in a sink like that!

A Plea for Lesley…Please put the naked photo of you staddled over a man back up for all to see, just for a day or two!!
Sandra xxx

wig kept coming off cos i was tugging tight tops over it, and also forgetting each bloody time! der! Yes the blood count drops for the second week usually, they def should have told you that!!! I dont use tape, nobody has mentioned it, but i only really wear it out and about, notat home, and i keep whipping it off even in the car cos it gets on my nerves a bit. I got complimented by a mum at school on my new hair cut yesterday, and when i told her it was a wig ( and explinaed the whole bc thing) she was shocked as hadnt had a clue and thought my hair was looking lovely. That gave me a real boost as had worn it at sports day and stood talking to her for 10 mins and she knows me but hadnt noticed.

Vickie, what are you doing whipping your wig off in the car! you will cause an accident, just imagine some poor old bloke driving along…crash!
The lady in the wig shop gave me some double sided tape! just in case, she said l could go out in very high wind and it wouldn’t come off…do l believe her…NO!!
That was a kind lady you spoke to, l dread the first time l go out with mine on! l will be looking at everyone!
I will ask about the blood count, in fact they didn’t tell me much at all!
Sandra xxx

Hi All.
Vickie, it’s this coming Thursday that I have FEC no 2, starting to have the dread feeling return.Hoping that i have got my head round the meds and have everything I will need in stock so it will be more manageable this time. Apart from the heartburn I can’t say I’ve suffered too much this time.
Glad you have my details.
Teal is a nice relaxing colour, sounds like your lounge will be the place to be…can I book a seat??New clothes too!! I got some linen trousers last week from Next.My fish (well actually son’s girlfriends fish who live at my house!!) were treated to a new tank yesterday…must be something in the chemo wants us to rehouse fish as there’s a lot of it going on here!!
I always stay up late…a really bad habit that I can’t seem to shake off, keep meaning to change it but somehow 1.30qam bedtime still prevails.
Izzy glad you’re having a restful day…make the most of it.
Sandra…you are a devil wanting Lesleys pic back…good one though as I also missed it first time round and wondered what all the fuss was about!!
Jackie…sound like you had a good time at Kew, hope the a-b’s work well for you, the waiting is a pain for sure.

Ok l probably have peachy mother brain, am l the only one that didn’t know about the ‘chit chat’ where you can play games on the forum? give me something to do when l cant sleep and no one is posting!

Oh Vickie , you took me back years talking about fairground fish . Like Sandra , been there , done that , but was´nt it a fantastic time ? Just wait until it dies and you have to get a replacement before one of your boys realises that said fish has been having a little sleep on the bottom too long . The lies we tell our little ones . Just wait until they move onto hamsters . It´s unbelievable what they need , their houseing units are weird , then you need cat proof balls , I´ll rephrase that … A hamster ball that the cat cannot get into . I learnt the hard way that a good hard prod by a cat can divide the ball in two , so then you have a loose hamster , a cat with blood lust in its eyes and two boys , both screaming , one egging the cat on , and the other for "mummy do something !!"Then the blasted hamster pops it´s clogs , and again you have to stuff it back inside it´s house until you can get a look alike replacement .God we had such fun ,kids get so much out of pets .Our fish were called Freeman , Hardy and Willis , my goodness that ages me does´nt it ?
How on earth do you ladies stay up so late ? I cannot work out whether it´s age or letrozole , but I´m bushed by 9.30 . I keep falling asleep and missing the ends of all the programmes I wanted to watch. Actually , I think it is the medication , cos I´ve never been like this before . Last night i even fell asleep before I´d opened my (small ) bar of chocolate , unheard of ! Mind you I am awake by 6.30 and walking Jack by 7´ish , today we did a two hour walk , he´s asleep on my feet .
Everyone I know who has or has had BC goes clothes shopping …big time . For me admittedly it´s because I´ve put on too much weight , so I´ve had to up size . Really trying hard to lose some , thank god for elasticated waists and drawstring waists .I think retail therapy should feature as a "complimentary therapy " , would´nt it cheer us all up ?
When my friend bought her wig , I went to Malaga with her to chose it , and she was told to have double sided tape because of wind . Apparently the other name for the "Costa Del Sol " is Windy Coast , but Spain went with the first as they thought the word windy would put tourists off , but it does get windy , especially up here in the mountains . Pat looked fabulous in her wig everyone was most impressed .One of her best friends in the UK has just been dx so Pat has sent her the wig . As pat said , it was letting go after 5 years , and saying goodbye to BC mentally and believing it .
Your lounge sounds fabulous Vickie , I do envy people who are arty and have the ability to see how colours and things are going to look .My daughter-in-law is good at that , I rather come from the school of Throwntogetherandhope !
Any more nice young men at your house Maria ? And as for Lesley ? Well you moved that postre a bit sharpish did´nt you , perhaps there´s more in what Sandra said than meets the eye !
I´m going to go , jack´s just woken up ,he had some beans with his breakfast this morning ,and they are just making their presence felt, or at least smelt , I think a quick trip out is called for .
Bye girls
Kris

Hi Everyone,
I’ve been quiet because I have been busy this weekend, and am now exhausted, but healthy exhausted if you see what I mean. My older son was here for the weekend and we had my 2nd son’s school open day on Saturday. I made full use of older son to move furniture, do electrics and generally change my bedroom around, as well as some important paper work.
I can see you ladies have been having fun since Friday. I am going to ask Vickie to come over and revamp my bedroom and living room, Kris, you words for women are excellent. Sandra, I am worried about your disappointment in Mum15’s change of photo, your peachy mother has different side effets than anyone else. What will you be like after no 2.
Take care everyone
Love Maria

Hi Ladies
Well after my sickness on friday, diarrhoea and sore throat on Saturday, l wondered what l would wake up to today! Very pleased to say l woke up feeling quite fit, everything has subsided!

Being Fathers day we usually have the family round for dinner, but as my little grandson is still chicken poxed! l have to stay away from him for another few days!
So l felt a little sad today, my eldest son came in and left daughter in law and grandsons in the car, l went out to see them, never opened the car door, just through the window l sent them a kiss and a cuddle, and of course some treats, they looked so sad as though drove off, but not as sad as l felt!

Then my youngest son and family came in, thankfully they are not infectious, so that was nice to see them for a few hours. Seemed so quiet when they left, never had such a quiet fathers day, l pottered in the garden, me the weeds and my tears!

All being well next Sunday we are having our own Fathers Day, so that will be nice, just been online to Sainsburys, to order LOTS of treats for the children to make up for today!

I purchased some pebbles last week online, l ordered four and had the childrens names and dates of birth printed on them, l am going to put them in the garden for when they come on sunday, they love little surprises! don’t we all!

Good to see you back Gill, These wbc injections intrigue me, be interested to see how your count is Gill, poor Carol had to delay for a week, so annoying!
How lovely to have a ‘Trinny and Susannah’ day, hope your friend isn’t like the one on the television, who keeps pinching peoples boobs! that would so annoy me!
Any idea when the wig is arriving? getting a bit close for comfort!

Kris, what would we do without these dogs, blame them for everything!!
fancy giving dogs beans, asking for trouble!
Freeman Hardy and Willis, that brings back some memories, l remember my Mum buying a red pair or patent shoes from there, l thought l was the bees knees, probably about 12 year old, they must have looked awful, l remember my Mum trying to persuade me to get a ‘normal’ shoe, but l fell in love with them.

Maria, Gosh l bet your son was glad he visited!! thought he had come for a nice peaceful weekend!.

Lesley, where are you, hope you haven’t abandoned us! because l have something to show you and any other ladies that would like to see a photo of some french oncologist!! yes naked, but sadly rear view only! kindly sent to me by Linda (lindiloo) Thanks again Linda!

Oh my lovely bcn has managed to bring forward my ‘new boob’ fitting to this Monday, was supposed to be the 5th July, but she said that was far too long, so all being well tomorrow, l will have something better than a softie, hope l like it, be nice to have a nipple!
Hugs to all
Sandra xxx
Hope? are you so busy moving you can’t come and say hello? hope you are keeping well, lots to do when we move!

Hello Ladies,
It’s a loverly morning (weather wise) I hope everyone has had a good weekend.
Sandra, I’m pleased to hear that you had a better day yesterday and I hope you’ve put all of those rotten SE’s behind you now.
I was reading too much about SE’s last night doesn’t really help, my OH says that he would be too scared to read all of this, and is afraid that he tends to bury his head in the sand over it all, at least he was honest about it. I think I’m beginning to feel a bit wobbly about my app with the doctor for my six week check this week.
The trouble is that I still don’t know the full outcome of all of my reports yet, I’ll be glad when Wednesday comes. I feel at present as though I can think of nothing else but bc, I wake up thinking about it and it lasts all day then I go back to bed unable to sleep as its going around in my mind all of the time, I sometimes think I’m going potty!!
Sorry about the moan, but I know I can do it here, thank you to anyone who reads this.
I hope everyone has a good week this week.

Best Wishes to you all,

p.s. Sandra I hope the new boob fitting goes well today, good luck with it…

Isabelle xxx

Hi Girls , start of a new week are´nt we lucky !

I´m really impressed sandra , you can spell diarrhoa , I wondered how it was spelt , everytime i wrote it it was different . Unfortunately , not only can I not spell it , but i´ve got it ! Think it´s a SE of the letrozole , hope i won´´t be like this for the next five years . Mind you , I wonder if it will make me lose weight ?
Yes please to a nearly naked fir onc !!
Trouble is Jack likes all food , ( like his mum .) so I always do extra so that he can have some on his biscuits when we come back from our walk in the morning . Today was cauliflower and cabbage .
You sound like you had a brilliant weekend Maria , it´s very handy having sons , I look forward very much to seeing mine , have´nt seen the eldest for over a year , he´s in Thailand , and i do miss him .You know why Sandra is sounding so good …ecstasy !! If you think that while you´re having the treatment sandra do you think it works , like mind over matter ? Hope you like your new boob .
Hows your fish Vickie ?
Thinking of you Isabelle , the awful time of waiting will soon be over , I´ll have my fingers crossed for you , I´d cross my legs as well , but my sense of balance seems to have disappeared .
luv Kris

Hello Ladies,
Kris, hope that was meant as a joke, missing the ‘e’ out of my diarrhoea!! well not exactly mine! but you get what l mean!
How long have you been on Letrozole for? l was on it for about 6 weeks and hardly any s/e, but then again only 6 weeks! xxx

Isabelle, well l must say l am probably a bit like your OH, tend to bury my head, not too much information required, expecially when l know l have a lot of lymph nodes involved, just a little knowledge will surfice, just need to get through one stage at a time!! 6 weeks and still waiting for results, that seems so wrong! but nearly there, so everything crossed for you xxx

Gill hope you have had a good day, and the hair is ok! well as ok as it can be, any news on the wig?

I woke feeling quite well this morning, thankfully, had a bit of a wobble before l went to get my boob! but l have come to accept l will have a wobble before anything and everything! the boob fitting was probably done in world record time! walked in, gave me a boob, too small, gave me another, again too small, gave the the third fitted perfectly, sounds a bit like the three bears!! with that she said see you in two years!!! wash it every day! l was back home before my appointment was due!

Oh she did say when l walked in, your softie looks very natural! thought she was going to tell me l didn’t need a ‘real’ one,
Why did no one tell me l was not getting a nipple? and l suppose why did l not realise on the nhs l probably wouldn’t get a nipple!
Or am l the only one without a nipple!! at 63 l an probably cope without my nipple showing through my top!

I have spent some of the afternoon in the garden, in between having a sit down. Decided it needed digging, so got the big fork out and dug for England, probably regret it later, but enjoyed it at the time

Have a lovely evening
Hugs to one and all
Sandra xxx

Hi everyone,
I seem to be very tired theses days, but I saw the onc and he said all was OK, which made me feel better, so Peachy mother number 3 on Wednesday. I told him I wanted the same stuff as Sandra this time, but he said they could not afford it !!
Sandra, I am sorry you didn’t get a nipple, but you can get stick on ones, ask your bcn. I’ve got 2 all in one boobs (nipple incorporated) I am sure your stint in the garden did you good. As for your spelling and capacity for making anagrams I’m sure you would beat me at scrabble.
Kris, I think Jack is spoilt, but cauliflower and cabbage would de rather conducive to wind, so beware.
Isabelle, Don’t believe everything you read (especially about se) Sorry to hear you are still playing the waiting game, it is definitely the worst part of this adventure.
I hope everyone who is not posting is well and not wobbling.
Hugs to you all
Maria

i am fine ! tired out but from doing lots today. Speech therapy with my youngest ( 2 lots of grommets for glue ear have affected his language aquisition), sainsburys with him, school run, watching eldest play football after school, taking both boys to the running track to cycle round and tire themselves out. Am exhausted! But lovely exhausted from a day doing normal mum stuff, and i can’t tell you how much i enjoyed it and appreciated every minute.

Fish still alive at last check. Aquarium we bought has built on pump/filter and seems very strong, this tiny goldfish is finding it hard to swim against the current! So only have filter on intermittently, not sure if this is ok? Oh well.

take care all,

Vickie
