Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

HI Ladies,

Isabelle, you will be glad when tomorrow comes, so wishing you good luck and we will be thinking of you. At least you will know your plan, that has to be good!
Still very hot here, thought it was supposed to be cooler today, but it never happened.

Denise, Hope you had a good bike ride, my neighbours have a bike and when they go off, l always want to jump on and go for a ride with them. l used to go on a friends bike, but back in those days we never wore helmets, and my hair was very long, l loved the wind in my hair, not sure how that would go now, can’t really love the wind in a bald head!

Can you have a drink while having chemo!! chemo leaves such a yuk taste in your mouth, l think it would be a waste, l am sure Isabelle will let you know, she will probably still have her brandy and lemonade!

Kris, Need to find out when the party is, l think Maria is having her chemo this Wednesday, and she said 10 days later! if we leave it 12 days we should be ok!
Those thongs may have made some old mans trip to the hospital a day to remember, so leave the poor girl alone!
Inflamed Liver, perhaps ou had better leave the Vodka out and just have the orange juice for a few weeks! Really hope the Liver is OK, just more things to worry about.
Lovely for you having your eldest son coming to stay, hope you have a lovely time together, l am sure you will cry, and why not 16 months is a long time.
What about a photo of you on the ball? a sight for sore eyes!

Maria,I am sure you will have another move around before you are really happy with your cupboards!
We wont miss you out, we will still be there when you get home!!
Toby eats me out of Romain lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes, he also loves my Lavatera and Hibiscus. He has lots of places to hide, he has his own house, a bit like a rabbit hutch, also he has very large flower pots and tunnels he hides in! He hides from me, but Bliss always manages to find him!

Pippa, Don’t you worry about Paul, we will look after him while you have your stay in hospital!
Sounds like you are organised for you hospital stay, think you have thought about everything, not sure if you will have a drain? but l found a small shoulder bag handy for carrying the drains!
Roll on Wednesday, just want it done and dusted now!

Heather, Good to see you back, another one less after tomorrow, hope it goes well What will we do with our time when these hospital appointments are finished?

Vickie Hope you enjoyed the football? and there is peace in the Tors household.
I have had a lot of pain in my arm this week, pleased yours has settled down, l was wondering if my next ‘final’ FEC was going to make it worse!

Grandson’s play went really well, he was a picture, such a big smile all the way through, in fact l have never seen such a happy talking leoplard!
We went to a local pub for lunch after, they have a play area for the children, so that was nice, although l stayed under the parasol, too hot for me.
We must have been there for 3 hours, just as we were leaving, Ben said ‘shall we stay and have dinner, l am hungry again’ they never stop eating these children!
I feel shattered, so hopefully l will sleep well tonight, even in this heat!
Lots of hugs
Sandra xxx

Meant to say, Lesley have you tried bohemia-fashions.com for your scarf or hat?
Hope you have had a good weekend

Hi Carol, you are like a busy bee, always up to something! enjoy the broadbeans!

Sandra,

thinking back to a conversation many posts ago about naked men. Have a really good photo although it is only from the back. cute bum tho !!!

Could put it on as my profile photo but it has to be a once in a lifetime opportunity for a very limited time as the moderator might chuck me off for it.

Girls - vote for when you want a 1 hour appearance of the photo !!

Race for life today was very emotional. We did it in 49 minutes and we ran the last 100 yards.Me and my very precious 10 year old daughter and her best mate Tears in my eyes but hey we did it.

Thinking of all of you still going through this cr*p. It does end…honestly. Just 1 more op for me

K x

Hello Ladies,
I hope you have all had a good day. OH and I went out for Sunday lunch and had a good run out in the car for the afternoon.
Grandsons have been staying since yesterday, gone home now.
Sandra, we have beef cattle and sheep at the farm, plenty lambs and calves about. We also have 4 bulls, very large ones!!!
We did have free range hens but the foxes got them all eventually.
We also have 2 farm dogs, three house cats and three outside farm cats, they are always waiting to be fed, even the outside cats!
We have a loverly old farmhouse which was built in 1680 we also have the remains of an earlier house in the field just outside which was built in 1400 its very delapidated though. We also have 400 acres of land, keeps OH busy, his family have lived here for over 100 years. OH has lived here since he was 2 yrs old, and he’s 47 yrs old now, I don’t think he could ever leave as he loves his life here, we both do.
Thank you all for the good wishes for tommorrow, I will let you know how I get on after my app with the onc (11.15 am) I’ll be glad to get there at last, I feel like I’ve been waiting for ages, it will be 9 weeks on wed since I had my op.
Heather, I hope all goes well for tommorrow for you, thinking of you.
Pippa, good luck for your op this week, we will all be thinking of you and look foreward to hearing from you when you return home, Hugsxxx
Vickie, Maria and Carol, I hope you are all keeping ok today.
Kay, congratulations on completing the Race for Life, it’s a great achievement for both you and your daughter! Bring on the naked man !!!

Hugs and Best Wishes to everyone,

Isabelle xxx

Karen,
Well done on doing the race for life, we saw some ladies when we were coming away from my grandsons play, my eyes filled up!! what else can we do! too emotional.
You must have been so proud having your daughter with you.
Your op must be this week? is it the 16th? so many dates going on in my head!!

I think a 1 hour appearance is a bit mean! we might have a meltdown!when l say ‘we’ l mean our computers!!
the mods will love it! put it on for 12 hours!! give us all a chance, would be awful if one of us missed it!
Sandra xxx

Congratulations Kayh317 what a great achievement!
I’m sure your memories of running with your daughter will stay with you forever. Precious moments indeed.

Welsh girl x

Isabelle,
Your farm sounds a dream! will the generations carry on?
Can we see a photo of your home? or can we google it on earth! sounds too good a treat to miss! or put it on your profile! oh and with a lamb in the photo, love a little lamb, or even a big bull!!!
Thinking of you tomorrow
Sandra xxx

Ok girls, looks like we have somewhere else lovely to stay after Maria’s, just need to know the date in September Isabelle is going on her cruise!
xxx

Kay, well done for race for life. my daughter did it the other week for the second year-she did it in 50 mins. I would love to do it next year with her. did you have your own name on the back of your t-shirt? she had my name on hers and so did a friend’s daughter- I was touched by that. by the way, I didn’t get an answer about the TV person who is supposed to look like me!

Isabelle- your farm sounds a bit like the one we go and stay at in Dumfies & Galloway-they have sheep & beef cattle and go back 3 generations. the advantage of theirs for us is that the farm cottage we stay in is practically on the beach. Lake district hills are beautiful too. I will wave next time we go up to Scotland(hopefully November)
PS good luck for tomorrow
Carolxx

Carol,

i put on mine that it was friends I had lost and for myself as I am beating the little beggars !! Mary wrote on hers that she was doing it for Sara (her godmother who had a double mx 3 years ago) and her Mum who is beating it and that she is really proud of her Mum. Several people commented on hers. The local radio breakfast dj had a double mx due to genetics and she was at the finishing line and cried when she saw what Mary had written. Her Mum runs the only genetic breast cancer helpline in the country and she was also there and gave us both a huge hug.

Ok give in. I was thinking Anne Robinson !! Don’t fall out with me !!

That’s way better than Adam’s comment when i lost mine. He said i looked like a butch lesbian !!!

Good Morning Ladies,
Thank goodness it’s today.
Couldn’t sleep very well so I got up early. See the onc at 11.15 am.
I hope he gives me the treatment I would prefer to have, Iv’e been told that I am on the borderline to have chemo, will find out this morning. I would rather have it now than get the little b—ers back in a year or two, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I will get any treatment that he thinks may be of help to me, I feel like Iv’e waited so long, I just want to get on with treatment of some kind, whatever it may be.
I’ll let you know how I got on later.

I hope you all have a good day today,

Hugs and Best Wishes to everyone,

Isabelle xxx

Good luck Isabelle. I’ll be thinking about you. Can I come and stay on your farm ? My younger son would love it so much.
Hope everyone has a good day, Hugs Maria

Morning Ladies I hope you have all had a great weekend

Ok I have finally worked out how you all keep up with the posts … 2 computers, I’m sat here with laptop and netbook, that way I can make sure I don’t miss anything or anyone coz when I try and scroll back I only get a few posts. -

Issabelle, before I get carried away catching up, GOOD LUCK for today, I felt the same as you about having chemo, give me everything now so I dont have to come back in a few years!! Will be thinking about you xxx

I went to the Breast cancer haven in leeds on thursday and had the most amazing aromatherapy massage - felt so relaxed you would have thought I had been sat in the pub for hours. Managed to work on friday and saturday till about 2pm then OH said enough was enough as I was tired and sent me home - bless him - sleeping with the boss does have its perks lol.
Am back at hospital today for my serom draining again, they took 600mls out last tuesday and its filled up again - bcn rang me on friday night to check up on me coz she said I looked like a frightend rabbit when I was told on tuesday that I needed chemo (well it was a shock) she said to come in today and she would drain it before it got bad again.
Went to have blood taken for before chemo on friday and they couldn’t get a vein - gonna have another go today but feel like a pin cussion at the mo

Maria - wow ! love your kitchen … party? hope I’m not too late, voddie n coke please

Sandra - I used to be a taxi driver and drive children to school in a mini bus so if we get a bus load to “house sit” at either maria’s or Isabelle’s I will happily drive. Hope you are feeling a bit better now.

Pippa, my Onc has refered me for genetic testing due to lots of cancer in our family - I’m no 4 with breast cancer, all on mums side, but am the youngest so far (47), a friend had a mx 3 weeks before my node clearance and she said the best thing she had was a belt she made from 2 “D” rings and some webbing - to hang her drain bags off (in Leeds they put your drains in pretty little floral bags) I made one for my node clearance and found it was great and meant I was hands free lol, I also took a netbook and dongle in with me to keep intouch with friends/facebook.Thanks for your comments on EC & Tax - thats what I’m having in 2 weeks, am a bit worried about what to expect. Good Luck for Wednesday xxx

Denise, I hope we can still drink on chemo!, I dont drink much but feeling the need more and more often - wonder if I can get away with one before first chemo ?? lol

Heather, glad you are feeling a bit better, you cant get a bigger wimp than me, actually OH told bcn he didnt know how I was going to cope when I was first diagnosed as he thinks I have such a low pain threshold!!!, I am such a baby, but coped with 2 ops so far, just chemo, rads & tamoxofen to do now lol.

Kay, well done for the race for life, I wasn’t well enough to take part in our local one this year but will be doing it next year along with my daughter (she will be 14 next year).
A friend of mine told me about the lady who does the genetic helpline, she is a wonderful woman, her and her daughter take all the calls personally and are very helpful, my friend has phoned her many times as she had problems actually getting the genetic testing, she has written a book which is very good my friend is going to lend it to me.

Ok have lost the plot now, so many posts my mind is puddled !!!, having 2 puters didnt work lol sorry to all those I missed out

Hope everyone has a good day, will be thinking about you Isabelle, hope your Onc is as nice as mine and things go well.

Love and Hugs to everyone
Tracey xxxx

Hello everyone well don’t know where everyone is but we have lots of rain here (Staffs) to-day so gardens should be looking a bit healthier.
Pippa–Good luck with the op. at our hospital they give you a little floral bag to keep your drain in,someone makes them. Hope hubby is ok and coping, think that sometimes they worry more than us coz they feel so helpless.

Maria–Kitchen looks lovely I’ll have Pims or a glass of Rose please. I’ll bring pretzels and please book me a seat on the min-bus or is it a coach by now. Would love to go on safari but my ultimate dream is to go to Borneo and help with the Orang U-tangs.

Hi Ladies; so many post and lots of smiles you gave me too…
Will keep this short cos will post properly tomorrow, but jus wanted to let Karen know I want to see that pic too - and congrats on doing the race and well done to your daughter!

Speak tomorrow, ladies enjoy your tipples whatever they may be…

Work colleagues did race for life and midnight walk I was so touched they had my friend’s name (who had bc last year) and also mine, they are a great bunch of girls who are being so supportive sending me cards, texts and little gifts to keep me going.

Hi there Everyone
I am so tired this week, don’t know why. I think 2nd week after fec is best for me, but now I’ve got to find out what tax will do to me. The onc worried me a bit, because he was not so explicit about the se of fec. Oh well, all part of the adventure. Vickie, thank you for your up date on your situation, I hope you are felling better and better.
My kitchen is done, the cupboards are filled and I am happy with the place I put the microwave, toaster and kettle etc. I did have to chuck out a load of stuff though. But I am stocked up with booze, so you can all come in the minibus and then we will go to Isabelle’s farm.
As for my trip to South Africa; my husband had a brother out there, and we have been many times before, so we know how to do it as a local, which is much cheaper than if we went with an orgainised firm. We fly out and hire a car, all the accommodation is already booked, and is self catering. Seeing the wild animals in their natural habitat has always exited and intrigued me, and it seems my boys love it too. We live very close to nature getting up and going to bed with the sun, not much electricity, but plenty of water. I love the vast open spaces and the wildness of the country. We do not go into the towns. I just hope I am fit to pack and I don’t forget anything vital.
Suze, you are so busy, I could not work, I know it.
Tracey, I can hardly cope with one computer let alone 2, sorry you have to go through chemo, but as you can “see” we all cope in our own ways. It is doable
Isabelle, I hope all went Ok with the onc
K, I vote for the picture for a week at least, please, well done on the race for life, so important to do it with family.
Lesley, Heather, Dee, Sandra and Carole hope you are all OK and I hope I have not forgotten anyone.
Hugs
Maria

Hi Ladies,
Ok Isabelle, we are a little concerned here!! hope you are out ‘celebrating’ having chemo, because l know that is what you would ‘like’ whatever please come and tell us how you got on! hope you got the results you wanted. Lots of Love and Hugs xxx

Hi Tracey, Mmmmmmm the aromatherapy massage sound lovely. You sleep with the Boss! No you got that wrong, he sleeps with the Boss!!
Well you can bring the mini bus, but l am not a very good passenger, so l may need to drive! although saying that, l remember my friend and l hired a van to move some stuff once, and we had to fill it with petrol!
l drove into the petrol station and almost took the first pump off!! the poor bloke came running out, my friend is sitting there laughing! He came running over and asked very nicely if l would like ‘him’ to reverse the van and drive it to the pump!! it was only when l got out and looked that l realised l had got to within inches of the pump! me being me, said l can manage thank you, my friend just sat in her seat laughing. So with two cars stuck behind me, and with gears that sounded like they had come to the end of the road, l reversed and forwarded with the poor bloke rubbing his head standing next to the pump. Couldn’t believe how sweet he was, when l got out to pay, he just said ‘that was very close’
Sooooooooo, perhaps l will drive on the straight roads, and you can do the rest, deal!
Hope they managed to get some blood from you, sounds very painful xxx

Hi Lesley,
Rain!! no just sunny days again! my poor garden really needs the rain, looking very sad!
An Orang Utang fan! my son is a Macaque fan (have l spelt it right?)
l just love all animals, well perhaps not rats or mice!

Yes my new picture, with my two of my lovely grandsons, how cute are they? got a bit fed up of the onc’s to be honest l think they were bogus oncs! l have seen quite a few oncs lately, and never any with bottoms like these, so before they go back up, as my backing group, they will have to show me their qualifications!!!
No Lesley, You started it with your picture!
Fingers cross for friday for you. xxx

Hi Suze, Thought you had left us for a better journey!!
Sounds like you have been really busy, roll on the holidays.
Hope the hickman line is ok!
Hope the sore lump is nothing to worry about! Too much to cope with, will we never get a rest from all these worries! Everything crossed for clear results for you on Thursday xxx
When you say you woke this morning dripping wet, Hope you don’t mean you are Incontinent! hoping you mean from the hot flushes! xxx

Hi Denise, So you have time to pop on and ask for rude photo’s but not to speak to us!! xxx

Maria, You don’t know why you are tired? well shall we remind you what you have been up to since your chemo started. Your tree fellar, Emptying your Kitchen that is a task in itself!! having all those men in, and not a stripper amongst them! how stress is that? Emptying all those boxes back out again!! and getting ready to go on a safari! Oh yes, nearly forgot…and having peachy mother!! give yourself a break girl!
2nd week after fec is good for me too! sometimes it is best not to know the s/e! just let them happen! perhaps not!
We don’t want to put you out too much, so we will bring the drink and food! you just supply the accomodation! Thank you!
Dont forget your wellies for Isabelle farm!
Sounds a fantastic holiday Maria, as well as emotional, have plenty of rest before you go xxx

Anyone heard from Gill? perhaps she is on Holiday! hope you are well Gill! xxx

Love and hugs to everyone
Sandra xxx

Sandra, you can’t drive to my place, I live half way up a mountain, remember. To get up a mountain the roads are full of hairpin bends, not a straight road in sight., Someone here is a former taxi driver, she can do it.
I didn’t know an appointment with an onc involved checking if he has a tight bum. I doesn’t here in Switzerland I’m afraid.
lol Maria

Evening Ladies,

Sandra, you always make me smile - thank you hun :o) love the tale about the van, yep you can do whatever driving you like, just give me a blindfold if you wanna do anything more complicated than straight roads.
Yes you are right, HE sleeps with the boss, I just want him to think its the other way around while he is doing all the washing, ironing, cooking and cleaning and running the shop - makes him feel important and that he is doing something to help (I’m sooo glad he doesn’t read these posts!!). Bless him, his chin hit the floor when I was discharged from hospital and was told to take it easy, no hoovering or ironing etc for at least 6 weeks, bless him, 4 hrs it took him yesterday to do the ironing on his 1 day off (he is ex Royal Navy so it was all done to the correct standard).
Had my serom drained (again) today, can’t beleive it feels soooo good again, and yes called into the blood dept and they managed to get what they needed in the first stab, different hospital to cancer unit where I went on friday.

Isabelle … like sandra I hope you are celebrating your visit to the Onc today and you came out feeling happy with your treatment, lets hope you have a date to start your next stage very soon.

Maria, think you have been doing too much hun, try and get some rest before and during your holiday. I couldnt cope with 2 computers this morning, so made sure I checked back tonight to see how everyone was - much easier than trying to scroll back all the time. I’m not the first, but wish I was the last to have to go through Chemo and I’m sure I will cope - one way or another, I did ask if they could knock me out for 4 1/2 months but they said no chance (not fair if you ask me, but thought it was worth asking anyway)

Mum51, lots of rain in yorkshire too, and for tomorrow too. I have horrible veins - too much fat around them I think, and no one ever gets them first time so chemo is going to be fun for me, but bcn told me today they can use heat pads to bring your veins up, told her to book me one asap.

Love and Hugs to all, hope you all have a good night
Tracey xxxxxx

Maria … if ya up a mountain I can bring some horses (sure my sis wont miss them) and we can ride rest of the way :o))
