Hi everyone I am posting on early shift today before the tiredness takes over again. Inlaws came for lunch yesterday so I got really tired, when is my energy going to come back. Was going into town today but don’t know if I will make it, I didn’t suffer this much on peachy mother lol I suppose it is different drugs effect people differently. I thought I had got away lightly reading how people were suffering on peachy mother, I felt guilty really. All the peachy mother did to me was the hair loss which was bad for me, lost my taste for the first 10 days, and I was more tired than normal. I don’t think I should have counted my chickens, the herceptin side effects are making up for it.
Sandra, I still have a drippy nose, daren’t go anywhere without a tissue in my hand. The hairs up my nose did go with chemo, but herceptin gives you a drippy nose. I loved the story of the boys catching money, that was very clever. We went on holiday a few years ago to Devon with my daughter and her 2 boys, and hubby wanted to take them crabbing. We had been to the same place the year before on our own and he had seen the kids crabbing, and wanted to have a go, but we didn’t have any kids with us. To start off with my son in law and grandsons weren’t that keen, but hubby bought the nets and things and off they went. Hubby dropped his net in the water the next thing up came a crab, that was it they were hooked and we were there four about 4 hours, it was the cheapest day out we had.
Maria, I really hope your feeling better today, count the days soon be holiday and I really hope you have a wonderful time.
Lesley, your hospital sounds really good, I go to the Royal in Derby. It has just been done up but isn’t has up todate has yours. I had real problems with my veins with my herceptin and I didn’t know if I had got to have a line in. It took them nearly an hour once, I came out with 9 wads of cottonwool over my hand up my arm. So the next time I wore my leather glove right up till the time there going to put the needle and fingers crossed it has gone in first time since.
Vickie, glad your having a bit of a releif from the side effects, how long till your next one.
Karen, sorry I wasn’t around to wish you luck but really glad everything has finished for you know, good luck for the future.
Carole, what kind of bike, moter bike ? push bike ? mmmmm not sure. Has you’ve read Carole I am having a bad time on Herceptin, hopefully it wont affect you the same has me.
Isabelle, Good luck with your BC today, will you have had you rads in time for your holiday ?? hope so.
Suze, I check everything all the time, I am always feeling for lumps and bumps. If I have a pain, a headache, a sore anything it has come back. One day I was sat watching the TV and hubby was watching me I didn’t know and he could see me poking and feeling everywhere. After a while has I was gradually working my way down my body he stopped me and said " where are you going to stick you fingers next " no I wasn’t Sandra lol
Kriss, my dad did have a bike, and he was in the navy so you never knew where he was lol oh these dam flushes are getting worse. I sat at the table this morning sorting out my tablets for the week and I had to shout hubby to watch the pills in case the cat jumped up, I was sweating that much it was driping on my top like I had been out in the rain lol Saw that you said about getting a paper, why dont you read them on line I do.
Anne, how are you today, hope youve had a good weekend.
Hope Pippa is ok and Dee, Tracey, Sheba, Jackie and anyone I have forgot, have a good day ladies.
Heather.
xxxxxxxx

when we lived in Cornwall, my kids loved to go crabbing,it occupied them for hours
have a good day, hope the weather where you are is cool for you hot flushes!

Afternoon Ladies
Thought I’d pop in and say “Hi” and give (((hugs))) to everybody and what a lot of post! - I’m glad everybody pops in to say Hi though; even if it’s just to do that or let us know whether you’ve having good day, bad day, need a hug and to make us laugh and share good news…
Extra ((hug)) for you Taxi73 ?Anna? feel for you x
Suze hope all is well for you too xx
Sandra hope the eyes are better? x
Karen; nice to see you home and well x
Good news for me last Friday as my bone scan came back normal (OH asked if they missed my head - cheeky b*gger).
I start my Peachy Mother next Monday the 26th and go for my assessment on Thursday this week but not sure what happens here - so any feedback welcome please. Think I’ll take my mp3 though as just read Heathers post and don’t fancy all that beeping! Looks like Lesley will be starting Peachy too around same time?
I got a free haircut too… my OH did it for me and what a good job he did of it! It was quite long and he cut about six inches off it so I now have a short curly bob, but I guess that isn’t going to last long is it once the Peachy Mother starts to kick in… I didn’t want to go to the hairdressers to have it cut as I wanted it to be more personal between him and me if that makes sense (I’m too mean really LOL).
Another little ‘hair’ tale too… I went into town yesterday with my OH (son at my mum/dads) and I was approached by a lady who asked me if I wanted my eyebrows shaping or any stray hairs removing - I wanted to burst out laughing but I very politely replied no thank you; inside I was thinking “get it all done for free soon”…
Just to put the record straight I’m FORTY NINE not 77 - Sandra needs a calculator… and no I don’t have a toy boy, and my OH is too young to be my sugar daddy - so I’ll let somebody else do the sums there.
Thanks for all the nice comments about the motorbike; I love being out on it and can’t wait for this bl**dy rain to stop so we can get out again!
Maria pleased you’re feeling a bit better now and if you’re still going, enjoy the Safari and don’t forget lions aren’t cute or cuddly, they’re meat eaters!! I was talking to a South African doctor a couple of years ago at a bbq and he said so many stupid people get attacked and killed by lions because they get too close to take photos (because they think they’re cute), apparently more tourist are killed that way than any other, so take heed…
Just off to pack now as I noticed Maria is packing - so we need to get packing for Maria’s, get a move on girls!!! I believe the latest addition to the trip is Cheshire as Carol is off to Scarborough sometime soon…
Hope today is as good for everybody as it can be and we’re here if you need us,
Denise xx
Gosh , what a lot to read .No time yesterday , plus I was having a real fit of the "ebby jeebies " in other words i felt like poo !
I woke up at 6.30 soaked to the skin , showered and took Jack out by 7am , not hot out yet I never stopped sweating , all day . My clothes were soaked , my knickers were so wet they ended up taking up the dye from my trousers , I just felt lousy and lost all day . Ah well these things are sent to try us . Do feel better today , still having flushes and sweats every hour or so , but not as continually as yesterday .Have a good cry Taxi , sometimes you need to just to get it out of your system . It´s so easy to get panicky , we all do at various times .
Yes , it was Jennifer Saunders I had read about , quite shocked , although don´t know why , we are not exactly a minority group are we ?My OH mentioned that he watched Kylie on a programme the other night , she was still taking pills yet dancing around all over the place . Yes , well I bet she has´nt got a miserable onc who does´nt want to know about problems .
Glad you´re feeling a little better Maria , get your suitcase down , if you don´t go , we can´t come ! I´m sure there´s room for me in the bus Sandra , I like walking , but not uphill , and Maria´s mountain sounds like a hill too far ! I don´t think my inhaler would work at that altitude , I´d need oxygen !
Why did that lady stop you in the street Denise ? Was she after your purse ? It happens here all the time , gipsies trying to "give " you a flower , while their oppo pinches your purse . People asking you the way , so that they distract you and pinch your bag out of your car . Oh it´s incredible what goes on , new scams evrey week . the latest , which is´nt too bad is that people are going around the supermarkets and pinching the euro coins out of your trolley , so that when you go to return it , you´ve lost your money .
A naval man Heather , know all about them ! Was in the WRNS and OH was fleet air arm for 22 years . Yep , he could have been in Wales !Do you think the sweats will get better when you finish the herceptin ?
Yep , you cn all come to mine . After we go to Yorkshire , after switzerland , me and OH are going to France for a couple of weeks in september , so you can all come here . So long as you water the garden and clean the pool , thats fine .
I was all to pot this morning . Thought it was wednesday and pilates at 10 , so off i went to the gym , and it was "bums and tums " and I was an hour early !!
Talk about "peachy mother " I don´t need that to get all a…e backwards , I think it´s "letrozole legathy "
Hope you have all had a good day today . When do we need to pack by ?
luvKris
Hello Ladies,
I hope everyone has had a good day,if possible.
It has done nothing but pour with rain here today, once it starts here it forgets to stop. OH has been waiting for rain for weeks for the grass to grow , now he’s wanting it to stop as he needs to get the silage men in to bale it all for the winter and we can’t do that until we have a few dry days, these bl-dy farmers are never satisfied!!
Well I rang my BCN today about a few things mainly the app I got on Saturday for my bone scan, guess what she’s on holiday again! I did manage to get in touch with another BCN at Whitehaven and although she did’nt know me she was very helpful. I then had to get in touch with my onc’s secretary who sorted me out, also very helpful, don’t know what’s going on today I’m not used to all of this helpfulness!!!
The outcome is that I should be starting my rads next week, if I get my app for the tatoos and the rest of the set up, something else to wait for. Also I can get on with the rads without having to wait for the results of the scan. It also sounds like I will just have to put up with the onc I’ve been given, hope I don’t have to see him too often, not at all would be better but we may have just caught eachother on a bad day, for now I will give him the benefit of the doubt, his secretary was very good and helpful so that’s one thing in his favour, I hope.
Maria, I’m glad your feeling a little better today, take it easy.
Heather, sorry your having such a bad time with your herceptin SE’s they sound pretty awful, hope you feel a bit better soon, hugs xxx
Carol, your lilac bike sounds good. I never learned to ride a bike, it’s a joke in our family that I must have been a deprived child, never had a bike so never learned to ride one!
Taxi73, I hope you are having a better day today, thinking of you, hugs xxx
Karen, how are you doing today, well I hope,
Hello to Sandra, Vickie,Suzi and everyone I may have forgotten to mention, hugs to all.
Best wishes to everyone have a good night,
Isabelle xxx
Hi Ladies,
I still care, but spoke too soon. Took younger son to his special school where he will stay all week this week and then had to get a roof tile pour my car-port which broke in the winter and then had to take back a window blind I bought for my new kitchen, because it didn’t fit. Then I met up with a girl friend for lunch. Didn’t feel great, but it was all OK. Got back at 2.30 and have just felt worse and worse. I prefer this bad physical feeling too the zombie feeling of before. So much for not feeling sick on tax, I could not even eat any supper. Thank you for all your kind positive thoughts, looks like we got a good holiday schedule: Switzerland, Farm in the lakes, another farm and now Spain, if my peachy mother brain is understanding it correctly. Please bring the lilac bike with the horses and taxi to mine, we’ll have fun (well I hope I won’t be there !!)
Hugs Maria
Hello Ladies,
Maria, why don’t you slow down a little, l am sure you have a lot to do before your safari.
A lady l was in hospital had her first TAX last friday, and she said it was better than FEC!!! said she had no sickness, and so far no mouth sore, which she had a lot of with FEC. so l am going to ask my onc for some of her TAX!
Don’t worry about sprucing the place up, we can sort your roof out and your blind, anyone good at diy? think l could put a blind up, but not sure about the roof! don’t like heights!
So many lovely places to visit, l am afraid all l can offer is a shopping holiday in London. or we could go to the lake with money in it! Oh and Epping Forest is the best Forest ever! Lots of lovely pubs all around the outskirts!!
Get it all out of your system tonight and tomorrow, you will be up and running! well perhaps not running, but you know what l mean xxx
Heather, (coffee time)
I see on another thread, you are still not a 100% have you heard from Marian?
My chemo ‘is’ about the same as yours was Heather, not sure about TAX yet not got there!
Oh l hate drippy noses! have to think about that, perhaps l can glue some wig hair up my nose! lol
My mum comes from Yorkshire, we use to spend out holidays with family and we use to go cockle picking, great fun! My aunt would cook them for sunday tea! with her home made bread and cakes yummy yummy xxx
Denise, Still got sore eyes, have to ask onc if he can suggest anything, tried cucumber, no different, might try a full salad tomorrow!
Anyother worry out of the way, well done for the bone scan.
Next Monday then! soon come round, Good Luck.
Think l might miss the Cheshire trip, and go to Scarborough with Carol, it is near my cousins, so l can pop in and see them, and l love Whitby xxx
Kris, Gosh you certainly have some sweats!! Lol. Get those trousers off, you want a nice thin dress!
Kylie still on pills? thought it was longer than 5 years, will check on google later.
Ok you have the sympathy vote you can have a lift up the mountain.Oh yes we will come to you, sounds lovely, where are you? xxx
Isabelle, It has been hot here again! l would send you some sunshire, but l don’t really want your rain.
Good Luck with the rads. l am still confused!
A friend of my friend!! has just had a lumpectomy, and she had no nodes involved, but still having chemo, onc said precautionary, these oncs certainly work differently dont they? xxx
Carol, You still on your bike? Hope you are fit for your chemo this week, no more skiving! knuckle down xxx
Hello to everyone else, hope pippa is feeling OK! and Kay hope you are feeling a little better, l see you have spoken to your bcn and having a little therapy, think that is something we will all need. Good Luck with it xxx
Sandra, I only got the bike to look at! I don’t think I can get up Maria’s mountain on it, perhaps everyone can push? I love Whitby too, have you ever been to Staithes?
Denise, good news about the bone scan
whenI went for my assesment, the Onc explained my course of treatment, but I didn’t take in all he said. I do remember him saying that some ladies put on 3 stone, I thought he was joking.
Hugs to everyone
Carolxx
Hi Carol, My mum says yes l have! although l can’t remember it, she said it is about 20 mins drive from where she lived and her family still live, New Skelton, near Saltburn by sea. Wish l lived there now, l loved it up there,
Oh don’t tell me l am going to put weight on, well not more anyway, l think l have put on 5lb since l started, so now l am going all out to get it off, salad, salad and more salad, going to be a fight between me and Toby to see who gets the lettuce.
Is the weight because you eat little and often, well l do anyway, but will have to be careful what l eat.
Love
Sandra xxx
Evening Ladies
I hope you have all had a good day, its been lovely day here in yorks, thought Isabelle was sending the rain down here this morning, but the sun came through and it was 26 degrees on the car when OH came home from work at 5pm.
Weekend started good, night out with the girlies on friday night, BOGOF with the voddie n cokes so not sure what time I got home <hic> and was left to sleep it off sat morning, made it to work about 1pm for a few hours. It all went down hill from there, yesterday spent most of the day crying - don’t know why, or maybe its finally hit me, I have been so upbeat about bc and I don’t dobut that I’m gonna be ok (mum, aunt & cousin are all fine after it), guess I am just worried about how I’m gonna react to peachy mother. Anyway I’m much better now - well at the moment lol.</hic>
Maria, I’m glad you are feeling a bit better, a couple more days then you will be back on top of the world again … well your mountain, just in time to go on holiday :o))
K, so glad its all over for you, but you are booked on the bus so you can’t go anywhere just yet… and it looks as though its gonna be a long journey so don’t forget your sandwiches.
Heather, I used to love crabbing on our holidays in cornwall, used to keep us quiet for hours. Been sweating here all day too and I can’t blame the tablets, it was such a releif to walk into tesco earlier and the air conditioning was lovely.
Denise, I am having my assessment for my peach mother on the day of my chemo, on the 26th (an hour before) so I too welcome any feedback of what to expect. I haven’t had any scan’s just a blood sample taken - wish I could get away with just taking my mp3 player with me, I’m taking my mother, she will be in a worse state than me I think., and god help the nurse if she hurts me putting the needles in !!!
Sandra, have you tried the eye drops for hayfever ?? Can I come to scarbrough too, or whitby, I love the fish and chips there, when I lived near Thirsk we used to jump in the car and go watch the boats and eat fish and chips
Kris, sorry ya not feeling so well hun, but at least you made it to “bums & tums” with time to spare. My OH spent 24 years in the navy - escaped 4 years ago, would have stayed longer if they would have let him stay at HMS Gannet <easy life=“” lol=“”>, but at least it means my house is cleaned to navy standard while I’m not too good - just takes him hours to do the ironing … thats navy standard too.</easy>
Isabelle, glad at last you are finding some helpful people, I know the rain is not helpful for you at the mo, you could send it down to yorkshire - in the evenings only tho please. Good luck with your rads, how many are you having ?
Carol, Pippa, Taxi, Suzie, Vickie and everyone else I have not mentioned I hope you have all had a good day
Love and hugs to all
Tracey xxxxx
hi all, so many posts!
Maria, gosh you did a lot today, no wonder you are knackered! Just checked my calender and i was wiped out on day 5 after tax and had to sleep for a few hours in the afternoon. I gave in and did nothing the next day! Hope it change for you soon.
I have had a nice day being a normal mum, and appreciating every second. I feel sick now that thursday and tax 2 is approaching, i feel like tomorrow is my last good day as wednesday becomes steroid and blood test day, horrid horrid horrid. Plus rubbish timing, my chemo is my little boys first day of school summer holidays. Fab.
Take care all, ho to everyone who hasnt posted for a while ( pippa, suze…) and hope you are feeling better soon,
Vickie
Ladies,
seeing as all the transport is sorted for our trip to Switzerland would you like me to make the sandwiches ?? Obviously need to know favourite fillings so I please everyone. White or brown bread girls ??? Could rustle up a nice fruit cake for pud and sure we could stash a selection of wine, beers and spirits on the bus.
Remember when I was a little girl and Mum and Dad were taking us out for the day Mum always packed food as there were 8 of us including them so no quick trip to a cafe for us. Mum always made jelly for us in individual Tupperware pots. Well the amount of times it was back to liquid before we got to eat it !! It was pretty gross but we were expected to eat it whatever state it was in. Still wonder how the flowers were after I deposited mine on the soil !!
Can add another destination for the round of visiting as off to Devon with Mary in August so if anyone fancies a week in the peak district let me know. Conditions include feeding Tortilla (the tortoise) Raticus (the hamster) and probably Adam (the eldest !!!) but can guarantee laughs a minute with my son. He has the most wicked sense of humour and has continued to take the mick out of me all through my treatment. His best mate confronted him about it a while ago as he thought some of things he had said were a bit insensitive and Adam’s response was " Mum would worry more if I was nice to her ". He was totally right but I know he loves me too bits and he is very precious to me. He has done all the injections I have needed during chemo and is now giving me my Heparin injections daily till Friday.
A good friend brought Mary back from school today as I am not up to walking at the moment. She came in for a chat and brought her gorgeous 8 month old girl in. Had a lovely cuddle then Kerrie decided to try and eat my knee. 2 teeth can really hurt !! Adam arrived back from his ambulance driving course and so lost Kerrie to him. (he adores kids). Kirstie (friend) was chatting to him and commented just how alike Mary (little 1) and Adam are. Adam’s response was that he didn’t realise Mary was a camp gay man !!! Laughed so much and god it hurts to laugh.
Sandra - trying to pull myself together. Tried to give myself a kick up the backside but it pulled the stitches too much !!
Have got to sort myself out quickly as it is Mary’s last day at school on Thursday and it’s her 11th birthday the same day. 7 friends coming on Friday for her party so no rest for me.
Maria - hope you get stronger and can make the holiday. So jealous.
Well have almost managed a Heather size post but not sure I can reach her wonderful levels.
Love to everyone I haven’t mentioned. Doesn’t mean I am not thinking of you.
K x
Hi just doing a quick post on the night shift…been sleeping all flaming day and am now wide awake lol.
Sounds like the trip plans are well under way now with food and drink and jelly!!!
Next week I will be in Cardiff then Devon then Southampton(hope I don’t clash with the trip to Marias) so if anyone wants to call and feed the cat and the guinea pigs let me know! Hope I can stay awake for long enough to see any of the places we are visiting…got a lovely hotel booked at Cardiff overlooking the bay…was £339 per night but we got it for £100…still expensive but paid for by our refund fron Canada holiday which we had to cancel b/c of my dx.
I am now like Maria and have no energy to pack…hoping i can muster some up soon.
Ok need to try to brimg my day back into some sort of order so going to go to bed…
Hugs to everyone…sorry not done individual posts but struggling a bit with heightened senses, the Hickman line settling in and the se’s from peachy mother…not a lot seems normal at the mo.
Nite n bless all
Suze xxxx
Goodmorning ladies, I made it 2 days on the trot is this a record !!! I am still flushing but a paper plate fan is good lol Oh I am such a proud mum at the minute, think I told you my daughter is a teacher. Well she didn’t do this after leaving school, she wanted to work and earn money so she worked for social services. Anyway she hated school when she was there, she was always in the A stream but got into loads of scrapes. For late homework, not trying, to interested in boys etc. So when she left scholl she hadn’t finished some of her exams and didn’t bother getting her results. Then after she had her children she decoded she wanted a career that fitted in with them so she trained in child care and got a job at the local school has a teaching assistant. They were so pleased with her and said why dont you train to become a teacher. At first she said dont be daft but then she looked into it and decided that is what she wanted to do. So she got into uni part time because she couldn’t give up work, and she studied, and it took her 6 years, and last year the week I was diagnosed with breast cancer she graduated. Has you can emagine it was one of my sadest times but also a very happy time. Well she took over the nursery and changed it all till it was right. She got promoted to early years co-ordinater, and she really loves her job. Anyway 2 weeks ago the school had an Ofsted examination, and the whole school was awarded oustanding mark in every area, that is the highest you can get. So occording to Ofsted my daughter is an outstanding teacher and I am so proud of her, of how she mananged to bring up her 2 boys work fulltime and do her studies, and now guess what I am crying, oh I am such a cry baby lol Anyway its nice to have some good news sometimes.
Well I hope your all doing ok, coffee time Sandra, I have just drank mine, no biccies though I am to fat.
Suze, wow you were on a late shift, bet your still in bed, well I hope you are. Your hotel sounds fab,
I would want to stay in the room all the time, think of all that luxury.
Carol, it was hot hot here yesterday, your bikes sounds lovely, have you fell off it yet ? Carol I must say I am sorry to you because until I looked properly today I noticed I have always given you an E in your name and there isn’t one. I think it may be because one of my oldest friends spells hair name with an E so the only time I write Carole down is on her birthday christmas cards, so I am sorry forgive me if I do it wrong, not peachy mother brain Heather brain lol
Dee, really good news about the bone scan, I am waiting for my appointment to come for one, was it ok ? my hubby cut my hair, well infact he has been doing my hair for the last few years because i stuggle with the problem in my neck to have a back wash. I trained has a hairdresser when I left school, and my mum was an hairdresser so I have grown up with it. So I sit with the mirror and tell him what to do, he is really good, perhaps I should start taking appintments.
Isabelle, glad you have got you rads sorted out, then you can look forward to your holiday. I hope the sun shines for you today, it was really hot here yesterday.
Maria, you are still going at 100mph slowdown or we are going to have to send some one to sit on you, not me or you would never get up again, and to come to think of it neither would I because I cant get on the floor no more lol but really take it easy and get ready for that fantastic holiday.
Sandra, can I come to the lake with the money in it please. Yes your friend did get back to me, I am going to message her later. She said about her nails and mine are awfull at the minute, I have always had strong nails, they never broke, now they just crumble away. Hey I have thought about the wig hair up your nose, now I think a rolled up false Eye lash would look better, but dont use nail glue to stick it up there lol
Vickie, So glad you are having a few good days at least. I am going to say good luck now for Thursday in case I dont get chance, be thinking of you and waiting to see if your ok x
Karen, We always took food out with us, oh those sweaty cheese, (now do you call them cobs or rolls, hubby calls them rolls I call them cobs ) Warm weak squash, and a chocolate roll that stuck to the wrapper, oh Remember it well, you must have been posh taking jelly !! I really hope your feeling better today
Ann, are you ok ? not seen you on for a couple of days or have I missed you, hope your alright.
Tracey, Sounds like you had a good time at the weekend. This dam illness does that to me, I try to be upbeat but sometimes it just hits me. One minute I can be laughing, then the next something just comes into my brain and I am in floods of tears.
Lesley, how are you, is it warm in Stoke or have you got the rain? its cloudy here today but still warm.
Kris, You passed your real hot one to me yesterday, I had one of my worst, do they make you feel shattered when they have gone over, I feel like I have run a mile afterwards. I am hoping they finish after the herceptin, but I will still be on Arimidex so I am not sure. I feel like I am going to melt, if I do send in the life boat I cant swim and there will be a real mess if I melt lol
Well I hope everyone else is ok, hope pippa is getting over her op, and Hi to anyone I have missed.
Have a good ladies
love Heather
xxxxxxxx
Hi There
I have not done anything today except go to the osteopath who had been doing a “laying on hands” treatment for me once a week for the past 3 weeks, so I hope I’m going to be OK now. So I hope Heather will not come and sit on me. I shall make my holiday packing list today and start the packing tomorrow. Heather, you must be such a proud Mum, well done.
Suze, that is why I must do stuff during the day, so I can sleep at night. Have a lovely time in Cardiff, you deserve to be pampered in a posh hotel.
Kay, naughty girl feeding your Mum’s jelly to the flowers. Your son sounds like mine, they are just the BEST. Don’t worry about pulling yourself together, but here is a story for you and everyone else.
Vickie, it is very comforting to know that I am following a pattern with this tax stuff. I wish you all the best for Thursday.
Tracey, you seem to be busy and having fun. Good luck on the 26th
Sandra, Is your Mum better now ? Have you tried tea bags for your eyes ? It’s the tannin that soothes them apparently.
Carol, goodness 3 stone, I have not put on a pound, could not eat enough to put on so much, where does it come from, this weight?
Hi Kris, Denise and everone else. Hugs Maria
A 92-year-old, petite, well- poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. As he manoeuvred his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window. I love it,’ he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy. Mr. Jones, you haven’t seen the room; just wait. ‘That doesn’t’ have anything to do with it,’ he replied. Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged … it’s how I arrange m y mind. I already decided to love it. 'It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away. Just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you’ve put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories! Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank. I am still depositing. 'Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
- Free your heart from hatred.
- Free your mind from worries.
- Live simply.
- Give more.
- Expect less.
Why do we try to do too much? Decided to paint the fence panels and gates at the front of my house yesterday oh said “don’t do too much”.
Well I went out at 11am and kept thinking I’ll just do a bit more finally came in at 3.15!!To-day I ache sooo badly everywhere. I think that I’m trying to do as much as possible before peachy mother starts. Listened again to my recording from the onc and he says 15 sessions which will take about 7 months. Chemo unit rang to-day I have to go on Mon.26th for doctor and assessment then will be told what day chemo starts. So that’s at least three of us starting next week I think.
Karen–Congartulations on finishing treatment.Wish Mary happy birthday from me.The Peak district sound good and not too far from me.
Heather–When we were in Porthmadog oh and his friend went crabbing in the harbour, boys never grow up do they? Bet you are so proud of your daughter she has done really well.Love the story of the elderly gentleman.
Dee-Great news about bone scan looks like we’ll be having peachy mother same time I don’t know what goes on at assess. either and so info. would be good from those who’ve been there.
Suze–Did you get a good refund on Canada hol? We had to cancel our holiday we booked flights only on line and once excess was deducted we only got about £350 back although we had paid over £700!
Sandra–Friend of mine went through all this last year and she said it was uncomfortable not having nose hair! Onc.told me I have to have chemo because the bc was grade3 and as such more likely to spread so this is to ensure that if that’s happened it will be dealt with. You’re right different hospitals and oncs seem to work differently.
Take care girls and nearly forgot Maria-just relax and pack forget the other things they will wait won’t they?
Back soon,Lesleyxx
Pippa–don’t know if you are on line yet but hurray back to us x
Maria, Your five simple rules are lovely! - I just need to work on two a bit more x
Lovely rules, Maria
Have been trying to catch up with all the posts but so much has been added. Think I’ll have to start replying to all the subsequent posts rather than the preceding ones, not enough time.
Good luck to everyone and hope you are all coping with your side effects.
Had my FEC3 yesterday, so three down and tree to go. It was a long day as the chemo suite was short staffed. I got there for my 9.00 appointment and didn’t leave unil quarter to 4. I was sooo surprised at how hot it was outside, had been sitting in air conditioned comfort all day!! Today I am a lovely shade of red, look like I have had a heavy drinking session but I was really good last night and opened a bottle of wine for a friend but didn’t have any myself!!
My next chemo will be the dreaded Tax, have been reading too many postings about it. Have got my bottle of steroids to take before the treatment and threats of no treatment if I forget to take them!! Somehow don’t think I will forget.
Will have to do a new picture as my wig makes me look so groomed, not at all like my own hair was!! Must go and dig out the background poster!!!
Was also at the hospital this morning to have a chat about my radiotherapy. Will be starting in November with 18 sessions, 3 of them booster sessions over the operation area. Also having radio to the lymph nodes in my neck as I had quite major lymph node involvement. It sounds easier than the chemo will have to wait and see.
Hope to catch up with you all, sorry not to have been on for so long. Have just been washed out and found it too much effort to sit and write

Evening all ! Gosh i have been busy the last couple of days , love having my son here , but it´s amazing how much extra work oone person makes . I forgot how much he eats !!
I´ve just been over an hour peeling prawns , plus taking out the intestine and bottom as my OH won´t touch them else . Finicky devil .
My friend put on 3 stone with chemo etc , she has now got rid of it , so it can be done . It´s all about willpower is´nt it ? I don´t have a lot .On the other hand , it´s so hot at the moment that I can cut down easier than normal .
When you go for your tatoos Isabelle , ask for a butterfly , I did , unfortunately I still just got dots , very unimaginative.
Nice to get you back Gill , does´nt matter if you don´t write , sometimes it´s good just to read and catch up on the news , so long as you´re alright thats the main thing , especially with the holiday coming up .
So it´s switzerland , the lakes , Yorkshire and then the peak district , brill ,and I´ve definately got a lift now , thanks Sandra .Please can I have brown bread with cheese and onion ,but I´ll pass on the jelly , I remember those too well from my own childhood . Who´s bringing the stove and the biscuit tin to cook in Then you lot are coming here . I doubt if you´ll find this place on the map of Spain , although it shows on a map of Andalucia . Looking at the map , left from malaga , right from nerja and go inland , see a large reservoir , and Alcaucin is right and above on the border with Granada province , next to the national park . Pretty .
Oh god i have to go , number one son is waiting to come into his bedroom to change after his swim .
Sorry to go so abruptly , so your OH was navy as well Tracey , they get around don´t they . Hope you´ve had a better less "wet " day than me Heather , start your packing Maria ,I was in cardiff in may , first time for over 40 years , it has changed .
love to all ,
Kris
Hi everyone,
Possibly I have the wrong topic to comment on but I am new to this, so please accept my apologies if I should be tagging somewhere else. Anyway I have bc and I am receiving FEC, 2nd cycle due next Friday, I missed last week because of an infection, onc told me that they will administer Pegylated filgrastim 1 day after the chemo, my question is has anyone here have had this and is there any side effects I should be aware. Many thanks
