Hi Ladies !
Well despite the shopping and the weather ( 35degrees ) I feel better in myself today . I think all the emotional stuff with martin beiong here , just sort of brought it to the foreground that i don´t actually feel as bright as I want to .
Your dad definately had a bike Heather ! Did he ever work down in Wales ?! Good job we are not together , there would be a big wet patch under us both where we are sweating so much . Do you think it will be better when you finish the Herceptin ? Congrats to your grandson , no woonder he´s pleased as punch . My son will have to find a job when he goes back to the UK from here . He wants to save up enough so that he can return to Thailand and his girlfriend . He´s just hired a scooter today . I hate them , he rides a motorbike in the UK . So dangerous , but he always has ridden one , as did his father before him . Me ? Never been on one .
Sandra ! Me on roller skates ?!! Whose going to tow me , and whats the betting that as I get towed around a hairpin bend , I´ll go flying off ? I think I´d better go in the chara , whose driving ?
At least you´ve started your treatment now Isabelle .Like you , I was borderline for chemo , they obviously know whether or not they think you would benefit from it .
Arimidex seemed to be the pill of choice here , don´t understand why the onc wanted me on Femara , I don´t know anybody else here on that .Might try sandra´s mum´s trick , pretend to fall asleep , or get my book out and read . If you can´t beat them …hit them with a flippin great stick !!
Where are you Carol ? I thought the weather was really good last week . Must have missed seeing the forecast . I do sometimes buy the "Mail " here , but it´s 2 euros , bit pricey . I try to read it in the shop down the village , but mrs Arkwright gets her knickers in a twist when she sees what you´re doing . I suppose the fact that my head is at 90 degrees to my body gives away the fact that I´m trying to read it off the rack !
One of my friends here is from Stoke-on-Trent way , the place she comes from sounds like "Penkall ", but I´m sure thats not how it´s spelt . In fact there´s quite a few people living in this area from Stoke , some worked in the potteries , and one ran a garage , another a haulage company .Small world .
I was listerning to the radio the other day , and in the woman and health section they interviewed the man who developed this new idea of radiotherapy at the time of surgery .It was really interesting , you´ve proberbly all heard it before . He said that it has been proved in trials , on early stage cancer , that 15 minutes of radiotherapy at the same time as the surgery is as good as 15 sessions over 3-4 weeks . He developed it to meet the need in Africa and places where it was extremely difficult for women to make daily journeys to and from a hospital with a radiotherapy department . Sound brilliant does´nt it ? At the moment , he said there were two hospitals set up to give this treatment in the UK , some in France , belgium and germany , none in spain . Probelm , as ever is money , and if hospitals have already got machines in use , they won´t replace them until they have to . Also , it will only benefit , those women with early stage tumours .
I also read something in one of the upside down mags about a celebrity who has just finished 8 months of treatment , and guess what ? B*****d if I can remember who it was . Certainly I did´nt even realise she had BC .Not Martina dodah , nor Bernadette Nolan ( How is she ? ) Someone else …gone ! I have no idea , and I cannot even plead chemo brain . If I remeber I´ll write it on a bit of paper cos i know you are all dying to know .
luv to you all ,
Kris
Was it jennifer saunders?
Hope everyone is having a good as day as possible.
Just sending hugs to you all xx
Haven’t got anything to say really as my head is up my arse and have been crying the last few hours…first time since diagnosis.
When diagnosed with BC I never thought of it killing me but since finding I’m trple neg I’m so scared and can’t get my head around it.

Love Suze xxxxx
Heather…
Thank you fpr asking about my ‘new lump’.
The b c nurse checked it last Friday…then she got a specialist nurse in to double check it, they decided that it was probably a gland but said they would arrange for me to have an ultrasound on Thursday when I was in for peachy mother…this was done and 2 radiographers checked it and finally assured me that it was nothing to worry about even though they could feel it with their hands just as much as I could and said I was right to be concerned…gosh these things are sent to try us aren’t they but considering the fact that I left the original lump for some time before acting on it I would rather act quicker now just in case…God forbid
Thanks again Suze xxxx
Glad your lump turned out to be nothing to worry about
Kris, I think it’s time you got your purse out, don’t you-either you will stay permently at 90% or Mr Plod will come for you.
I am in Greater Manchester, Cheshire actualy, sounds posher, would love some Spanish sunshine though.
Lesley-what a good idea to give you a CD-you can listen to it as often as you like till it all sinks in. There seem to be more ladies on here that are hormone receptive-I’m only 10% so have to have 12 months of Herceptin. you probably feel better now you know what’s happening.
Hi Ladies
Gosh Heather, you will wear yourself out, two post within a few hours! l have emailed the lady, so as soon as l hear from her l will let you know her email address. I love that word ‘Grandma’ So pleased you grandson has some good news, such a shame when they can’t get work, yes we do cry and every stage! xxx
Carol, sent you some photo’s you will wish you had never asked! Lol l think you should put the photo of you with your head on santa’s shoulder on your profile! Yes you are having your third FEC next week, can’t keep putting if off to socialize!xxx
Lesley, so you go to a posh hospital? a recording indeed! How come you are having 7 months of chemo? that is more than 4 x 4! or have l a muddled peachy mother brain? And why Tamoxifen! l thought that was for pre menstrual ladies? are you that young? Lol! xxx
Kris,Thank you, don’t worry about anything too rude/shocking!! Lol.
You have legs, you don’t need anyone to pull you along, and if you do, hang on to the taxi! everyone packed yet! l have not done a thing, my case is still in the loft!
Think l am going to look into Arimidex and Femara, see which is supposed to be the best! probably both about the same!
Think the place you mean is Penkhull? obviously they didn’t think much of it!
No l never heard about the radiotheraphy at the time of the op. might google it and have a look later xxx
Suze, sorry to hear about your ‘new lump’ so now they have decided it was nothing to worry about (easy for them to say!!) so what happens now? xxx
Maria, hope you are well and keeping busy! oh no l mean relaxing! but still getting ready for your safari! xxx
My son and l took the grandchildren to a ball park today, and then to Epping Forest, there is a big lake there, the boys took their nets and buckets to see what they could catch. We walked round a ‘very large lake’ (sure it wasn’t that big, when l was a kid, it must have grown!) as we got to the end the little one said, 'grandma l didn’t catch anything, so l took a £2 coin from my purse and sneaked it into his net, l said ‘one more try Jack’ dipped it in the water, lifted it up and his little face, when he saw there was money in it! This lady walking along said, l think l will come back with my net! So then l had to be even more sneaky so Ben got the same, but he is a bit more on the ball, but l managed to sneak one in his net! said he was going to bring Mummy next time, as she would enjoy fishing out money! wouldn’t we all!!!
I was shattered when we got home, but gone midnight and l feel wide awake! Help!
Hope K and Pippa are well after their ops? Lots of Love to you girls xxx
Love and Hugs to everyone else xxx
Sandra, thanks for the photos. where is that lake, again and is there any money left? the sneaky, underhand tactics you grandmas have to come up with. I will have to ask you for some tips if I ever have any.
I havn’t got a suitcase for this holiday, I lent my son the not so big one then he asked if he could borrow the big one, now he’s got both. He’s flies to Hungary this morning to join a girlfriend who is visiting her family (she is Hungarian but now lives over here)She keeps ringing him to say “can you just bring me this” now I think he is taking the contents of her flat!1
We are both having the peachy mother next week, then, don’t think I can put it off again. just hope my WBC is Ok, have been drinking lots of Pommegranate juice.
Off to buy my bike now.
Love Carolxx
Hi everyone,
I don’t want to put anyone off who has not had it yet, but I HATE tax. I feel like I’ve got flu and feel like I have taken an overdose of valium. I don’t care about anything, have not started to pack, and I don’t care. I can’t even get exited about my holiday or even worried that I cannot pack. I went to bed at 9 pm and got up at 8 am (got to keep some sort of routine for 2nd son) and could return now quite happily (except I don’t feel happy, or sad or anything) Everything tastes of mashed potato (even orange juice)! Bone pain is not so bad, guts feel “delicate”, but I don’t feel sick, just not hungry. It’s not so much tired as total lack of energy and therefore control. Don’t like it at all ,but I suppose if I I have found the energy to share this part of the adventure with you it must be a good sign. Other good signs, don’t need any pills to sleep…and if I feel like this, what do those little bc Bu@@ers feel like.
I’m trying to keep up with all your antics, but comments are beyond me I’m afraid.
I hope you all have a lovely Sunday, and I hope I’ll be back to my usual self soon.
Hugs Maria
Hi maria, sorry you are feeling so cacky. You described the tax aftermath really well. Is like a nothingness interspersed with tiredness. It does get better I promise tho it took two weeks to the day to feel like me avian whereas fec took a good few days less. But since Thursday I have been good, more energy, and taste buds pretty much returned from their holidays. Good job really given they are throwing another lot at me on Thursday! Still you are 75pc ish there now given that cycle six is only equivalent to half a cycle… Hope you get your mojo back in time for your hols, go hibernate til then, love vickie xxx
Hi Maria
sorry you are suffering with TAX too - its strange cause we have all been so much yet the TAX is a bit different it that it seems to knock you in a different way.
There is a real upside in that after day 10 ish you should starting feeling normal again and to be honest I felt far better after day 10 than I did on FEC. I think its the early days for me its day 4 onwards (today). I get very very tierd no enegy like you say and a queesy stomach. My bone aches are not too bad after paracetomol but generally I just feel like sleeping that that is what I do!
Have a lovely holiday I am sure you will enjoy xxx
Hi all you adventurers! Hope you enjoying Sunday as much as possible.
Jacki-- I live in Stoke-on-Trent about 5miles from Penkhull. It’s ok there but in the city I live more on the outskirts but work in the city. My onc mentioned that maybe by the time I get to rads, next year, they may be doing long treatments over a few days rather than short ones over 15 days so guess that’s coming here.
Suzi–thanks for the advise if I have to have a line I’ll let you know. I know we are supposed to be brave being women and mums etc. but sometimes things just hurt don’t they, or am I a bit of a wimp?
Taxi–hope that you are feeling a bit better and that a good cry did you some good.
Sandra–Yes I am pre-menapausal at 51. Hospital is not posh but is a teaching hospital, don’t know if that makes a difference. University Hospital of North Staffs.
Not much been happening since Friday. Had friends ober for the week-end but they left before lunch as had to be for children.
Pub as usual for lunch, oh keeps saying “do you want to go or have another one” that’s ok for him but I have to drive so I don’t drink lol. Don’t minf really it’s a lovely pub in a little village about 10mins. away and the people there are friendly and all know us. They have all been very supportive to us since dx. Trying to get in touch with son but he’s been at 2000 trees festival and phone still not on so thought I’d pass some time away on here. Nothing much planned for tomorrow due a day in I think to catch up on some housework/gardening depending on weather. Tuesday next Reikh session, can’t wait it makes me feel chilled out.
Anyone know how long Pippa is in for or how she went on?
Love to all of you and a (((Hug))) for those who feel they need it.
P.S. Case nearly packed please don’t go without me x
Hi Ladies,
Carol did you get your bike? hope you got a crash helmet too, tell us about your bike, l am green with envy.
Sounds like your clothes will be in a carrier bag then!
Hope you son has a lovely holiday with his girlfriend xxx
Maria, Only two to go! no consolation is it? sounds an awful feeling! hope it doesn’t last too long for you. You sound like a naughty child, ‘not packed and don’t care’ Well you had a good sleep, so that is something l suppose. Yes it is a good sign you have posted, you could have stayed under the duvet, so well done for that.Hope tomorrow is a bit brighter for you. xxx
Vickie, You have another this week? wow that went quick, or did it go slow for you? Ok so is the one for the eldest or the youngest?
I have my 3rd FEC this week, then l will have something to complain about, when l start the TAX! watch this space xxx
Saffronseed,Not much relief then if all this rubbish takes 10 days to recover from. Has anyone had it easy with TAX, or are we all doomed to a miserable few weeks each time? xxx
It has been another lovely day, so much so l decided to clean the windows! and now feel shattered, OH managed to hoover and wash up, not at the same time though! he still can’t multitask.
Carol, was it you that said you had a monofilament wig? that is what l have, you can see the root? or even the bald head!
My eyes have been sore these last few days, not sure if it is me or the peachy mother doing something to me, perhaps l am losing my eye lashes. might put some cucumber on my eyes later, will have to watch bliss, she might pinch them off me, she loves cucumber, as does Toby, but he will be in his bed.
Love
Sandra xxx
Hope you all had a lovely day, and those that had sunshine enjoyed it!
Hi Lesley, sorry we crossed paths, hope you are ok, sounds like you enjoyed your lunch. xxx
Guess what I am also on another thread “anyone on e-cmf” and the girls have spotted the lady in the background of my photo, here we go again lol xx
Hi ladies,
am back, feeling very sore, tired and fat but at least it’s over.
Want to thank you all for supporting me through my journey, you are all wonderful ladies.
Hoping that for me it is the end of my journey but want to support you all through yours as you have mine.
thank you so much.
K x
Hi, K
So pleased you are home and that you are feeling sore, fat and tired!! your words not mine! just agreeing with you!
Be good for you to stick around, on this journey with us. So what happens now with regards to you, and seeing oncs. or surgeons? xxx
Lesley, Here you go again, causing trouble! l will have a look on the thread! xxx
Love
Sandra xxx
Sandra, just looked at your profile to view the crisps! your birthday is 2 days before mine.
I have a lovely lilac bike, there was an offer on crash helmets but didn’t get on, don’t intend to ride on the road at the moment, just up and down the disused railway at the back of our house.
My new long blonde wig is a monofillament.
My eyes feel dry sometimes and then they start watering.
Maria, hope you get that caring feeling back soon or you’ll miss your holiday!
I must be the only one who is not having TAX -don’t know why I’m not unless it’s because my BC is not hormone receptive.
Carolxx
Hello Ladies,
I hope that you’ve all had as good a day as possible.
Karen, I’m so pleased to hear that you’ve finished your treatment at last. Best wishes to you for the future, and I hope all goes well for you now, keep posting for now or we will all miss you. It seems as though we are all cyber friends on here, hugs xxx.
Maria, Sorry that you are feeling unwell at present, I hope that you will be feeling brighter as you get closer to your hols, It will do you good once it comes around.
I got an app for my bone scan yesterday, the onc told me it would be this week before I start rads but the app isn’t until 18th August so I think I will ring the BCN tommorrow to see whats going on, I may also take her up on the offer of another app with a different onc, I will decide when I speak to her.
I hope everyone has a peaceful night.
Best Wishes,
Isabelle xxx
Hi Carol, Ok so our birthdays are two days apart, what worries me is how many years l am older than you?
Oh a lilac bike, even more jealous now as that is what l would have chosen!
Why are you riding up and down a disused railway? until you get use to the bike, or because you like riding up and down a disused railway track?
That is just how my eyes feel, dry then watering.
Oh yes and my nose keeps running, l put that down to the hairs up my nose have nearly all gone!! nothing to catch the drips!
Cant help with regards to why you are not having TAX! do you feel left out?? xxx
Isabelle, Good Luck with the bcn! have you had your brandy?xxx
Love
Sandra xxx
PS Carol, A photo of you on your bike!! sounds good to me xxx
Hiya,
Just started caring again, but got busy day in front of me, so I’ll I’ll “speak” late, if I don’t exhaust myself too much, still don’t feel even 50%, but it’s better than 10% as in the past 5 days. Don’t worry about not having tax, it’s sh@t. and K, stay in there girl, you haven’t finished your adventure, just one part of the journey. I know, was there in 2003.
Hugs Maria
