Hi everyone,
Well I went to see my doctor today about all the tablets I am taking, and to see if I can come off some. She has reduced my Lyrica which I take for Fibro, I don’t know what its suppose to do, but if it is suppose to help the pain it’s not working lol I asked about my swelling feet, the doctor gave me water tablets last time I saw him, and said you will be going to the loo a lot, no I wasn’t they never made any difference. Well now just for a change I have to have a blood test, this time to see if my kidneys are working ok, there’s always something isn’t there.
I never told you ladies when my breast problems started. It was in Febuary 2000, I was working in 2 different places and going from one job to the other I fell over a broken paving stone and hit my face smack on the floor. Well you should have seen me, I broke my nose, broke my elbow, broke my front teeth, and I split my nose in half I had to have 20 stitches inside and out, I looked like I had been in a road traffic accident lol. Anyway the fall started a lot of problems for me and I had a lump and bruising in my right breast. So the doctor sent me for a mammogram, and the next thing I heard I had got to go to the breast cancer clinic. All my family were so worried, and I was terrified. We were 2 months into the new millennium and I had got so many problems. Anyway a couple of days before my appointment at the breast clinic I was sat watching tv and I was sat with my foot underneath me and I looked down and all the bottom of my foot was a browny reddish colour. I felt all the blood drain out of me and I thought oh no not something else. So I went up to the bathroom, bathed my foot and tried to see if I could see anything, nothing but a little mark. So I thought I must have burst a blood vessel or something, and by this time it was starting to hurt (so I thought). Anyway I rang my daughter because I was in a panic, and she said ring the doctor, but I said no let me get Tuesday out of the way first (that was my appointment at the breast clinic). So I had 3 days to wait, and I kept looking at my foot and the colour seemed to get deeper, and I was starting to limp. Work said have a few days off, but I said no I’ll be ok. So Tuesday came and off to the breast clinic, I was terrified. However that time it was nothing to worry about, it was calcium spots. So in the car on the way home my daughter said, right now ring the doctors and get your foot sorted out. Anyway when I got home I thought I need to relax first then I will ring the doctor. So I took my boots off and then looked and saw something on the floor and guess what it was, a tea bag !!! I had been walking around with a teabag in my boot and it had been dying my foot, and that is were the strange colour came from lol I had even been limping. When I rang and told my daughter she couldn’t stop laughing, and my son in law nearly chocked he was laughing so much lol, so you see I am a bit scatty and I have done lots of stupid things lol. Anyway back to buisness.
Carol, love the sound of your nice hat, I love hats. So sorry to here about the loss of your dog, when we moved here a couple of years ago I thought Blue was going to be really ill. We put him in a cat basket but he hated it, and when we got here he wouldn’t stop panting, think he was just scared.
Gill, glad you enjoyed your few days away. It is awful when that letter comes, but hey its a few more steps forward
Sandra, I will get hubby to take a new pic and put it on for me. Glad Bliss is a little better, I have my 2 both insured because if anything was wrong I would pay has much has was needed. I had to go to the dentist before chemo and I had to have a few things done which delayed my chemo, but they said better to do it before because they really cant do much when your on chemo.
Izzy, hope your feeling better now.
Lee, not seen you about for a few days, bet your busy with all that catering.
Well all you other ladies hope your ok, and have a good weekend.
Love Heather,
xxxxxxxx
Heather, That was so funny! good job you don’t drink green tea like me, you would have thought gangrene had set in!!

Hi everyone, been away in Cornwall for the past week so not been around will catch up on the news from everyone by reading posts. I Hope everyone is well and things ok. I am ok and have now posted a picture of me and my wig (yes sandra and my prothesis but its in my bra so not too revealing…). I must admit my wig doesn’t look that bad really and not that itchy if worn in short bursts - my prothesis is comfortable and feels like me - take care and speak soon xx
Hi Saffronseed, Was wondering about you tonight! and there you were on holiday, good for you, hope you had a lovely time.

Hello everyone,
I think I have caught up on your news by reading all your posts. Everyone seems in good spirits.
My short orange hair lasted me my trip home to see my parents, niece and nephew. I was spoilt, ate well and they all thought I looked well, and I was. The flights were all on time, no volcanic ash, no strikes with the airline I went with, in fact no stories to tell at all !! I shopped till I dropped on Wednesday and bought all sorts of things I didn’t know I wanted !!
However I did not wash my hair as it was coming out in clumps, but I wanted to stay looking good while I was there.
Last night I was able to pull out clumps at a time, and everything was itchy, so I washed it this morning and so much came out in the sink, it was horrid. Then it was all patchy and thin, so I’ve shaved it all off now, with the help of my sons. I put my wig on and thought: another corner has been negotiated on my adventure. Photos may follow, but I need to get used to myself without orange hair first.
Two friends came over yesterday and helped me clear out the kitchen ready for it to be demolished next Tuesday, so now I am camping in my own kitchen, and praying something essential has not been packed away.
Heather, the tea-bag story is the best so far.
Saffronseed and Gill, I glad you also had a good break.
Carol, don’t wait for the train to hit you, jump out of the way now !!
Sandra, superwomen, it seems all your lot want to keep you busy and be more ill than you. Tortoise, dog, grandkids. Who next ? I ask myself. Don’t forget to take care of yourself. You are number one.
Hope you all have a good weekend. I’m off to do a weekly shop and I hope I don’t buy too much as I must remember I don’t have a kitchen any more.
Hugs Maria
Hi Ladies,
Heather…still laughing…l must have told everyone in Enfield!
wish l lived near you, l could pop in for a chuckle everyday!!
Gill, you reminded me of when we had just got married, l put the oven on, but like a newly wed, forgot to light the gas, a short while later realising l hadn’t lit the oven, l opened the over door and put a lit match in!!! l felt the heat on my face, l screamed and run upstairs to the bathroom, with my husband behind, wondering what the hell l had done! I scorched my fringe and eyebrows, never did that again, did change to electric a few years later!
Gill, we have to look after our wigs, so l think it may mean no more cooking!!
Chickenpox grandchildren are quite happy, the youngest was a bit grouchy this morning, but he did have a high temp. so he was allowed, eldest grandson Ben, who has the most spots, has been absolutely fine. Jack who is 3 keeps saying he is a chicken that has pox!! (that sounds bad) l said no DARLING! you just have chicken pox.
Good to have you back Maria,
So pleased you had a lovely time and was spoilt, oh poor hair!! yes l think l will have to shave it off when the time comes, not sure l could stand the thought of it falling around me!
I hope your kitchen men are better than your tree feller!! although he did get there in the end!
Love to see a photo of the ‘new’ you!!
My little bliss had a treat tonight, l fancied some fillet steak from marks, thought l would be healthy and have salad with it, all cooked and ready, and bliss looks at me, nose twitching! now unlike my husband, l never feed the dogs titbits (that word doesn’t sound right anymore) But something about those eyes tonight! so she had the steak and l had the salad!!
Soft touch or what!!
Typical Bank Holiday weather, rain, rain, and a bit more rain…
Hoping for nicer weather on Sunday!
Love and Hugs

Hi Everyone,
Here is my my new look, no hair, scarf and with wig.
Those that don’t know me well enough for me to tell them my story must think I go to the hair dressers more often than a celebrity !! Slightly ginger hair until 15th May, then bright orange hair, then on 24th short orange hair, them since yesterday brownish slightly longer hair !! Yesterday I was told by someone who didn’t see my short hair, that my new hair cut looked really nice !! It made me feel better about my wig.
It’s good to share my new looks with you, it helps me come to terms with what is happening to me. Tomorrow its back to reality, see my onc at 3 pm, and will have blood test to see if I can have my second FEC on Wednesday as planned.
Tuesday will see my kitchen demolished if my kitchen men are better than my tree feller.
Sandra, I am glad everyone at your end are enjoying chicken pox ! “Titbits” for Bliss, lovely. You are right “tit bit” now eh !! So I presume she is feeling better.
So I hope all is well with every one, feeling OK and no wobbles for anyone.
Hugs Maria
Oh dear, my photo does not seem to work, maybe you can see it if you go to my profile. Or maybe you can see it. Let me know please. It says use avatar on my screen and I don’t know how to.
Maria
OK done it, changed it from tiff to gpeg, and now I can see it, so I hope you can.
What a lot of things we learn on this adventure !!
Maria
maria I do like the photos how did you get three on? I only just managed the one with my wig! I wouldn’t dare show me with a bare head I look sooo awful!! You look good in all of them.
I have a blood test tomorrow ahead of my next chemo on Tuesday (my final FEC) - as its bank holiday I have to go to a different hospital for it which is ok… but not a nice way to spend a bank holiday…
at least the sun is shining a bit today although it is very windy here, was going to go into the garden today and finish my planting but a bit chilly - am watching the football instead… England 1 nil down boo hooo…
Will put the chicken in for sunday lunch soon and plan a relaxing afternoon. Hope everyone is ok xx
marial, thanks for putting your photos up, you do make me try to think of this as an “adventure”, and i thank you for that. You look really good by the way, i am not saying that no hair is preferable to your bright orange do, but i mean you look strong and that helps me.
I have had a rubbish week and a bit since fec 2, same as after fec 1 really, but think am on the “up” now. Have also worn my wig a bit, sat in it now in the house to get used to the feeling.Waiting to go to the park after the england game is over. I haven’t been on the forum for a while as i felt so rubbish, think i go into a physical and emotional chemo hole for 10 days, then start to progress. Never before in my life have i had to force myself to eat yummy things!
Hope evryone is alright and adventuring well.
Hi Everyone,
Thank you, girls, for the complements on my looks, I think I have a very forgiving camera and the photos are small. so you cannot see the wrinkles and blemishes !!
Tors, glad to “see” you back, how about a photo ? I’m sorry you feel so awful after chemo, do you drink enough ? I find it makes a lot of difference. My wig feels horrid to touch, feels like I have used enough hairspray to stick an army together. It is not very comfortable either, but no-one who does not know, realizes it’s a wig.
Saffronseed, all the best for tomorrow and “bon appetit” for lunch, sounds good. As for the photos; I have a mac and the application “grab” which allows me to take a photo of the screen, so I put all the photos side by side and “grabbed”, then saved as gpeg and heh presto ! and all that without the help of my son who studied computer science for 7 years, to tell me to hoover my modem when I could not connect myself to the internet !!
All the best to one and all
Maria
even drinking made me feel sick this time, the idea of water made me heave! Drank 2 to 3 litres a day last time though and still felt crappy, think is just my body’s reaction. Hope that difft anto sickness may help
Tors yes I too struggled with ‘drinking’ this time everything tasted really horrid and whilst I did try lots of different drinks I haven’t really found anything that tastes ‘ok’. I used to like sparkling water and now that tastes like metal too… As I am in my good week I have had a couple of glasses of red wine (for my blood count of course) and that tastes nice - but I can’t really just drink wine and have scoured the supermaket for lots of different fizzy, still, fruity drinks - my latest is pink grapefruit squash - I thought if I mix that with fizzy water it may taste ok… I have tried pineapple juice and ginger and both make me feel sick.
yes, its really odd, the drink thing. I ended up drinking lemonade. I even bought irn bru cos i liked it when i was younger, but the colour in the glass made me remember the drugs being syringed into me, so that was another immediate o-no! I tried the bottle green ginger and elderflower as that sounded like smething that would work…yuk. Would usually love that type of thing!I have been better today though and can drink alrightish, though still cant abide cups of tea etc. Have read the threads on what to eat/drink on chemo, but i am just glad to get anything down me!
Am watching “an audience with victoria wood”, have seen it loads of times but its so funny its really making me laugh. I also had a good laugh last night watching the eurovision results when we came last!
Hi all,
Just nipping in for a quick visit before watching a film.
Sandra… hope the grandchildren are getting better, glad it happened before you started your chemo. Hope Bliss is doing well and the tortoise recovered from his foxy ordeal.
Izzy, Maria, Sarah, Carol Heather Vickie and Tina (and anyone else who knows me!!) hope everyone is doing well
Sorry post is short but I am being nagged now that the film is starting…bossy people!!!
Keep trying my wig on so I get used to it, as I pass the mirror I wonder who the heck it is then realise it’s me!! Even my dog looks at me in a strange way as if she’s trying to work it out!!
Ok gotta go…speak soon hugs and love to all
Love Suze xxxxxx
Hi Ladies,
Maria, Get you! managed to put a ‘grab’ on three photo’s l am very impressed! Would like to see that wig a bit closer! are they made of human hair? looks very nice, how brave are you going bald! l am such a coward, not sure l could be that brave.
Good luck with the blood tests tomorrow, fingers crossed for you and of course for the chemo on Wednesday, oh number 2 already!
Kitchens, yuk, good luck! xxx
Saffronseed, Good luck with your blood test tomorrow, and for your chemo on Tuesday, final FEC, Congrats!!coming in slightly ahead of Maria, keep it up girls xxx
Tors, Sorry to hear you have had a rubbish week, but good you are on an up! keep going up! Is your wig made of real hair? l will ask everyone this question!!
As Maria says it would be lovely to ‘see’ you, what about a photo, then l think we will have to ask Gill, nice to put a face to the words! There are probably more ladies that have no photo on, so forgive me and please put a photo up, so we can see your lovely smiley faces! xxx
Suze, Well l hope the film is good!! And is your wig real hair?
I hope they fix securely, today has been quite windy, l will hold on to it for dear life! xxx
Because of the chickenpox grandsons, l could only have them over for dinner today, My other son and family are are coming over tomorrow! talk about keep me busy!
My dear Mum has Myasthenia Gravis, and has to be careful around ‘virus’ children!! so she decided to stay at home today!
The eldest grandson is absolutely covered, poor little thing, he is fine with it, a bit grouchy, because he said it is really itchy! the youngest is very grouchy, but he has not got quite so many spots, just a grouchy 3 year old, Not really! Bless them!
They had great fun today, l brought a blow up padded ball, it stands about 5’ dia. and the grandchildren can get inside while you roll them up the garden, my son wanted to take them to the park and roll them down a hill, but l said NO! especially as it has a lake at the bottom of it!
My little Bliss enjoyed her steak, but sadly she is a poorly little girl, having a chat to the vets on Thursday, so not looking forward to that conversation.
We (me and hubby) are off to see the onc on Tuesday, the start of my next journey?..hope so.
Love
Sandra xxx
hi everyone,
will consider the photo, always worry about putting photos of self on the web though, even my facebook page only has a general type piccy, i have a hat on in that and its from a holiday 2 years ago!
Sandra, where did you get that ball? My boys would LOVE that! My wig is fake hair, the idea of wearing somebody elses hair on my head just freaks me out! And apparently real ones areharder to look after. Mine isn’t too bad, not too uncomfy, and am pleased i had it cut to suit me at trevor sorbie, has made a huge difference honestly.
I did the “stickability test” today, long walk out over the hills in very breezy saddleworth, it stayed on fine, was impressed.
