The anaesthetist cancelled my lumpectomy on the day of the surgery due to concerns about my breathing. They needed more information so I was sent for a scan. They discussed me again at the MDT this week but now I am being referred to a Lung MDT. I am quite concerned about this because the anaesthetist only mentioned checking my breathing pathway with a scan. Why do you think I am being referred to yet another MDT?
Hi mela
Thanks for posting
Its understandable that you are concerned about the referral your breast team have made to have your case discussed at the Lung MDT.
We are unable to say why this has happened but sometimes the anaesthetist may ask for an expert opinion about giving a general anaesthetic to someone who has breathing problems.
We would suggest that you contact your treatment team to find out why this has happened and to explain how you are feeling. Your breast care nurse may be aware of the discussion that happened at the breast MDT meeting so do give her a call.
