ER+/HER2- query

hi All.

Has anyone had Tamoxifen fail nearly 5 years post primary DX, had a good initial response to letrozole that then failed quite quickly, go on to have a good response to Fulvestrant? I feel this is not working either although have a month to go before my next scan. I wonder at this point if the hormone treatments are just not working for me.

thanks

sorry can a moderator move this to the treatments and issues board? thanks

Hi Kess,

I am also ER+ and HER2-.  I had Tamoxifen for 10 months before the secondaries were found.  I was then put on Letrozole, Zoladex, Denosumab and Palbociclib.

The new combination only partially worked after three months - all the mets in my bones were clearing up nicely but the Oncologist was worried there were new lesions on my liver.  So I was swapped to Capecitabine instead of Fulvestrant.  Like you I have been wondering if my cancer is not responsive to hormone therapy.  I’ve heard from some ladies that Fulvestrant has worked really well for them where other treatments failed.

I think its worth discussing your thoughts with your Oncologist, as there are so many different types of drugs they can prescribe you and they will have their reasons for choosing which one to try you on next.  Good luck on the Fulvestrant xx
