Hi Ladies, I have had a lumpectomy and I find out Thursday the results of lymph node involvement and stage. My paperwork says “Receptors to follow Er & Her2” does this mean I will find out if it positive or negative what does both positive or both negative mean or 1 positive 1 not?! sorry i’m trying to prepare myself for Thursday
xx
Hi. Sorry you’ve joined our club.
There’s loads of information on pathology reports here https://breastcancernow.org/media-assets/qoahzxgp/bcc161-understanding-your-pathology-results-web-pdf.pdf
ER positive would mean you might benefit from tablets which stop oestrogen production as it’s helping the tumour grow. HER2 positive will trigger extra treatments depending on what your centre’s protocol decides.
Sending positive thoughts for your results.
Thanks for the link xx
This might sound really stupid but if the tumour has been removed How are these things helping it grow? I get the stopping from reoccurrence sorry im so new to all of this so I’m trying to educate myself xxx
Don’t worry I’m only a couple of months ahead of you!
Surgery removes the lump they can see but not any stray cancer cells which could develop. That’s why you will be offered a range of other treatments such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy and hormone therapy.
Thanku
, what type is yours and treatment? Feeling super scared xxx
Invasive ductal within DCIS about 16mm.
Oestrogen and progesterone positive HER2 negative
I’ve had surgery and start radiotherapy in a couple of weeks. I was on Letrozole hormone treatment but came off it due to horrible side effects. I was told I would need chemotherapy if HER2 positive but I wasn’t.
My advice is to take it one step at a time and try not to worry about things that might not happen. There’s a lot of treatment options for your team to use.
