eribulin

Hi all, I am awaiting funding to start this chemo as venoralbine and capecitabine haven,t worked. Anyone had experience of this? what side effects can I expect?

Hi Ritz

I am on Eribulin it took about seven weeks to get funding. I have just finished my 4th cycle and am awaiting my scan. Very few side effects, main one being very runny eyes. Feeling slightly sick for first two cycles, slight constipation. On the plus side no loss of taste, and I look forward to my cup of tea in the mornings.

Good Luck
Khristine
P.S I am being treated at Bristol Oncology Centre

Hi kristine
good luck with ur scan hope this chemo is working. Are u triple neg? I’ve heard it’s had some good results with tnbc + this has been mentioned as an option for me. Do you lose ur hair with this chemo, just trying to find out a bit more about it before I see my onc on weds.
Anyone else got more feedback on this drug? Hope everyone is having good results

Hi Gingerbud
Thanks for your good wishes regarding my scan. I am triple negative and it is also inflammatory breast cancer. Diagnosed January 2009, with 12 nodes infected. Had mastectomy, tac, xeloda, vinorelbine, which did not work, and gemcarbo for a while.

I have lost my hair on eribulin but it is a small price to pay if the drug works, it is only a five minute injection followed by a drip for 20 minutes on day one and day eight. It is certainly worth a trial for you. Good luck with your onc wednesday

Love Khristine

Hi girls,
I’ve been told I’ll be starting eribulin on Monday. Just wondered how you’ve tolerated it? I’m annoyed to be losing hair again but I know it’s a small price to pay. I thought I’d be offered gemcarbo but my oncologist seems to be more excited by Eribulin. I’ve looked it up online but info seems to be limited as it is very new.
Fingers crossed it messes with this cancer!

my wife has just been offered this treatment & is trying to make up her mind about taking it, she has lobular breast cancer that is progressing, has had 2 lots of chemo & pallitive radiotherapy, suffering imense nerve pain & is being treated for this in our local Hospice; because of the mass (over her heart/lung area) radiotherapy is not an option, this med is the only one, have looked on web for info but very limited other than USA where it has been available since 2010 & looks positive.
Any info/cpmment would be helpful to us.
thanks.
