is there anyone out there who has used to DWP permitted work rules whilst in receipt of ESA and this has worked well in terms of easing back to work?

I am self employed and gave up work when I was diagnosed with BC in September 2017.
I started going back to part time work in the summer and filled in the “permitted work” form along with a sick note from my doctor to say phased return or altered hours. It took them a while to review but said in the meantime I could work. (There are restrictions to how many hours you can work and how much you can earn). After they reviewed my form they asked for proof of earnings which would be payslips if you are employed or bank statements in my instance. I have now returned to work full time but found the permitted work useful. Michele
