Essex Girls!

Morning - lovely to see you Sharon & Tracey, even if we seemed like a pair of weirdos that like stalking sick people!

Sorry to hear the flushes have arrived, it can’t be nice. Something else I have to look forward to on top of having toxic titties!

Hope to make Thursday, depends what Nev has in store for me this week. Will post again tomorrow after my appointment.

Julie - hope the swelling eases up and you soon start to feel a bit better.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, I am spending mine on the sofa with wine & choccies. I won a £50 gift voucher from Asda and have spent most of it on…ME!

Love to all…Daisy xx

Hi,
just sent a text to Sharon. I have moved my Tuesday appointment as i know Flora can only make that day to meet up. Bev can make Tuesday.
What do you think?
Lily x

Daisy, nice to bump into you the other day, hope you had a nice lunch (not WRVS one!). Good luck with Nev tomorrow, he’s very nice.

Julie hope you are healing and recovering well, look forward to seeing you if you are able to make it.

Helen, great that you are getting out and about and feeling better.

I have 7 more rads to go and then I’m done huraah!!

Tuesday is fine by me,

See ya all soon xxx

Hello - good to hear everyone is well at the moment. Hope Julie’s swelling has gone down a bit! Sharon & Tracey, nearly there with the rads - good for you!

I overdone it a bit yesterday, had a busy day and paid for it last night, felt terrible… tired, sore veins in my chemo arm, sore under arm and boob on the bc side, generally yuck…so went to bed early and taking it easy today. My brain and body seem to belong to two different people at the moment. I’m sure I’ll get the hang of this resting thing sooner or later.

I’m confused, is it Thursday 7pm at the Fox & Raven or has it been changed to Tuesday? Would hate to arrive on the wrong day and be sitting there like Billy no-mates! Don’t want to seem a dimbo but can someone clarify for me please.

Have a good day, where did the sunshine go???!!!
Helen x

Thanks for changing your appointment Lily.

Hope to see everyone on Tuesday. Angela hopes to come too.

Helen - I think you can take it that it is now Tuesday and hope to see you there.

Flora x

Hi everyone

I hope to see you all on Tuesday night. Is it the Fox and Raven? Are we having a meal or is it just drinks?
I am going to see Mr Smith (consultant) on tuesday so I can update you all with the latest. My boob still feels like a brick and still very sore.
I hope you are all ok and the rads and chemo sessions are going well.
I am looking forward to meeting you all as I have only met a couple of you at meeting.

Love to all,
Julie

Hi everyone,
Just to confirm the next big eat up is at the Fox and Raven on Tuesday at 6.30 or when you can get there. Some are eating ameal, some are on puddings and some are just drinking! Bev is coming after her meeting at school. Daisy are you ok now to drive? That is if you can get out with the roadworks!!
Look forward to seeing you all.
Lily x x

Hi - roadworks permitting, count me in!

Saw Nev today, I am not a happy chappie! He looked at me like I was mad when I said that Prof S had said I would have both treatments at once! Once he explained the reasoning against it, I agreed with him, but that just delays ‘normality’ - whatever that is!

He decided afterall to give me a bone scan, something else I was told I wasn’t having! Then its six lots of TAC over 4 months, then 20 rads.

Now waiting for appointment for scan and a nosey around the chemo department. Chemo likely to start in 2-3 weeks! Thats bleedin’ ages away!!!

I am going back to work tomorrow, my arm is still a bit sore/numb, but I think I will manage. Nev said I could return, I might as well better than sitting here going stir crazy. I am so NOT a patient, patient!

Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow hopefully.

Hi All

That’s great, I can do tomorrow. Be great to see you all.

On my way…roadworks permitting!

Hi,
thanks for a great evening as usual. I can’t believe the trouble we had at the restaurant but next door was so much better. Lovely to meet you Helen and Julie and just keep chugging along, it will all end. Daisy good luck at work and be careful, catch uo again soon. Flora and Angela might see you at the support group , if I remember the day and Flora have a fab holiday.
Tracey lots of luck on your last few days and hope the rads don’t send you up in smoke this week. If they do shout and I will get the super space age bandages to you somehow. Sharon hooooooooooooooray for finishing rads now and hope it cools down soon.
See you all again in the school Easter hols I hope, if not before

As for the problems with our first venue, what can I say? their loss I think.

Hi everyone I would just like to second what everyone else has said about last nite. The food was good but the company was even better. I have been awake most of the nite with a bad bad femine itch!!! Bought some canesten and used it and now thinking oops I should have checked with the GP and scared myself but have since looked at this site and others seem to take canesten with tamoxifen. Everyone looked well last nite and hope the pain got easier Julie.

Love to you all Sharon2 xx

Afternoon all

What a lovely evening last night despite the snotty waitress in the first place. I am going back there tonight with another group of friends that I used to work with, hope she doesn’t recognise me!
It was good to meet up with everyone, and meet some new ladies for the first time…every one of you are amazing!

Julie - well done for making it, you are doing really well. Let me know how you get on with the Headstrong thing on Monday.

Daisy999 - We talked about wigs, are you aware that you’ll get a voucher from the NHS, the voucher is for £59 but that means that you pay the first £59 and the NHS pay the rest. I thought it would be the other way round, so make sure the place you go to accept the NHS voucher or you could end up paying a huge amount for a new hair do! Both of mine would have cost £200 but didn’t have to pay that cos of the voucher, I got them from Michael Roberts in Southend -lovely lady there, very helpful.

Flora - Have a lovely break and I hope the sun shines for you.

Sharon, Tracey & Lily - good to meet you again.

Take care and have a good day

Love Helen x

Helen - I wanted to get my wig (Erica) this Saturday, when will I get the NHS voucher? You’re right, I thought it was £59 off, not my contribution was £59.

Do they only pay for one wig? Surely they wouldn’t pay for two would they? So, shall I wait to buy the second wig until I get the voucher as its £192 for ‘Marie’ or wait and buy the two at once?

The staff at school collected £160 for me and my little loves are doing a sponsored ice skating event for me, they even got Riverside to let them use the rink for free! At this rate, I will be able to afford my Raquel Welch wig that I REALLY want!

I have my assessment at the chemo bit on Wed 25th and chemo starts 27th at 11.30. YIKES!

I have gone back to work, been back 48 hours, one arrested and one expelled from college - fab…mind you, time flies!

Love to all

Daisy xx

Hi
Daisy I was able to use my voucher to buy 2 wigs, each for £59. I was given my voucher when I went for chemo planning but I am sure they would give it to you early if you rang and popped up there. Don’t forget to ask for a poster to put in your car and to ask where the free parking for chemo patients is. I recommend going early and going in the canteen, which is next door to the Helen Rollason unit, for a big cooked late breakfast. They do a fab breakfast (better check when it ends) and it gives you something nice to look forward to on the journey as well as a nice full tummy before the drugs hit.
Hope you get on ok at work, you are obviously a good influence!!LOL. Take it easy and steer clear of any pushing and shoving.
Tracey and Sharon hope you are ok on the Colchester run and that you are not feeling the heat from rads too. I can still remember how hot I was! Hi to Flora, Julie and Helen - hope you are all getting on ok with holidays, recovering from the op and next chemo. Hope very much to see you all in the Easter hols if not before
Lily x

Hi all,

How is everyone doing? hope the pain is settling Julie, and the rest of you are all well.

I am so glad it’s the weekend and no travelling to rads! though I only have 2 more so will finish on Tuesday. Boosters going okay, they put a frame type of thing onto the machine. It comes right up to boob, it’s right above me so I have to look to the side because it made me want to push it away!!

Had planned to have a quiet weekend, but we have a guest! Yes we have ‘Bobby’ the school baby for the weekend. I have made it quite clear that ‘granny’ is very tired and doesn’t want to know. I’m sure by Monday morning I will be glad to see the back of Bobby!

Hope you all have a good weekend,
Take care
Tracey xxx

Hi

Daisy - Yep the voucher is for 2 wigs. I’ve got 2, would have paid £59 but didn’t have to pay anything as I have an NHS exemption certificate (I’m a single parent) oh and you’ll need the shampoo etc and stand if you haven’t got it already. I rang the chemo unit they posted me the voucher, or you could pop up there. Your hair won’t fall out straight away, mine fell out 3 days before my second chemo (think they told me between 10-14 days after the first one) so I held on to it a few more days. The lady in the wig shop said it’s a good idea to have the wig fitting when you still have hair, think you’ll be in a better frame of mind anyway. Go for the one you really want (might as well) but check they take the voucher (not all wig shops do). I got one wig initially, then the lady in Michael Roberts photocopied the voucher and I went back a few weeks later and got the second one. Good luck, oh and hope work isn’t to horrible - ha!

Sharon & Tracey - hope you are doing ok and not in too much pain after rads. Not sure when you finish your never-ending journey up and down the A12 but I am sure you will be celebrating.

Julie - hope you are healing well, take it easy. Make sure you get pampered!

Hi to Lily, Flora and anyone else I’ve forgotten, have a good weekend all.

Look forward to our next meet-up
Helen x

Hi,
all I can say Tracey is good luck and go out and buy some earplugs. Bobby is a ‘ready or not tot’ that is designed to put young people off having babies by keeping them up all night!!! When I have him around school, I can hear the crying for hours afterwards. I hope she has lots of fun with him and take the battery out on Sunday so you at least get one nights sleep. Ha ha ha what fun you are going to have!! Finishing on Tuesday, brilliant, well done.
Good luck with the next dose Helen.
