Hi everyone, I am at home nursing a poorly child at the moment. I had a real cock up with my zoladex injection today but to cut a long story short am going back to the surgery tomorrow for it, at least I had my smear test today wot a delight!!!.
Sharon.bas I have sent you a private message but hope you are feeling better.
Sharon (Diamond99) you are on TAc aren’t you. I am a bit concerned as you only take 4 steroids a day but you stated you have had 4 and have another 4 tonite I am only concerned for you. HAve a good time tonite and hope it is alright tomorrow, thinking of you.
Moonshine, leave the housework it will still be there.
Lily, I can make the first week but may have to bring JAck along. My txt said where did you get your travel insurance from?
Hi Sharon2 - yes I am on TAC, but they want me to have 8 a day. I know you chaps said to take them ideally in the morning as they hyper you, can you imagine what sort of nights I am going to have! I did query the amount, but she said, nope, definately 8.
Time to get my old Acid House Party CD’s out of the loft! I thought my time spent in fields with sweaty strangers (now look.,…no rude comments please!)at parties was long over! …Accciiiidddd…
Moonshine, i’ll sell you one…£5 a pop. ha ha. Don’t worry about cleaning, as long as the dust isn’t causing anyone to reach for an inhaler, then it isn’t dusty!
Had latest onc appt last Friday and all ok so another one done. Time to plan my next holiday.
Daisy - I had eight steroids to take for the three days. Did not make me to hyper but made sure did not have second lot too late. Took them before 6 on evening. I presume you still want the hair stuff. I will pm with my no so that i can arrange to bring it round to you. Hope today went ok. Monday is likely to be the worst day and hope like the others of us that you are not too sick on TAC. Good luck with the injections, fine once you get the hang of it and it shouldn’t hurt.
Sharon - hope Jack is feeling better. Enjoy this time at home before going back to work. How’s th blond hair coming along? Are you and Tracey betting to see who goes wigless first!
Helen - glad you seem to be coping well with chemo and side effects no worse.
Tracey - hope you have got rid of your cold. The convict style will soon grow. I can go out in this wind now hair standing on end and just flatten back indoors. I used to hate it before as hair would go all over the place and really messy. Its all a new experience.
Lily - I see you are still up at all hours. I bet you are looking forward to the hols and your holiday. Helps you to feel that things are returning to normal if there is such a thing!!
Julie - hope you are continuing to feel better and ready for next
week.
Good luck to all you others coming up for treatment and hope to see at least some of you for our next meet or at support group.
hope things went well today Daisy and that the nusres were kind and helpful.
Hope you are feeling better Tracey
Sharon 2 Hope the little one is feeling better and injection went well.
Lily thanks for tips, I am now on pizza’s and pop corn, if psych is any help I’ll pass it round, that’s if i am not certified. have a good break
Hi Everyone
its me again,
just To let all you know that i got a call from my bcn yesterday to tell me that my surgeon has cancelled by surgery as he is not willing to operate until i have seen the psych, i have a appointment next week. I am a little annoyed that he made that decision without even seeing me, Oh well i am wondering what will happen if psych decides I am unstable will treatment then stop?
anyway it looks like I may be fit and well for early april so might make group meeting
Hi,
sharonbas I am really sorry to hear that your op was cancelled and I think it is very unkind to do that without talking to you first. However it WILL be nice if we can all meet up.Take care and let all those emotions out online whenever you want, we will all understand where you are right now x.
Daisy hope today went ok and that you were not hanging around for yonks and that you have fat veins for the cannula! Keep a diary of your symptoms so that for the next 5 cycles you know when to expect to rest, take senna, eat eggs, buy lemonade, eat ginger cake or whatever works for you. Really hope you managed ok x.I used to do jigsaws when I got the steroid buzz as it kept the mad brain busy but the tired body could just sit still.
Tracey as IF I would try to flash them in Debenhams!!! Will ring you re a meet up, or ring me if I don’t as got a bit of a pea brain with so much to do at school right now. Sharon2 hope little chap is on the mend and didn’t get you too if a germy thing. Are work still being helpful? My bank account gave me continual travel insurance but it excludes a claim for Bc treatment for the first year. There are a number of firms doing it though. Flora fab news that you got on ok on Friday, well done. I am starting to have a wobble about my mammos in a fortnight and keep prodding my scar tissue anxiously!Check ups always worry me.
Hi to everyone else
Lily x
Well, so far so good! No problems at all yesterday. Worst bit was having a numb bum from sitting down so long! In at 11.30, seen about 11.50, out at 5.00. Would have been earlier but nurse forgot to order the Tax before she went to lunch!
Veins fine, no side effects during treatment, no sickness (so far) and managed to inject myself this morning without a hitch - 4 left! The steroids are a pain, body is tired, brain is alert. Last lot tonight though.
I have half of Boots The Chemist in the cupboard ready for anything the body decides needs a helping hand!
Have a good weekend everyone and I will keep you posted.
Hi Daisy,
well done, one down and I think the first is def the scariest. You will be an old hand from now on. Soooo glad that the Se have not kicked in yet and hope you are one of the lucky ones. Brilliant that the veins were co-operating too, long may that last.Don’t forget to be very careful when your neuts shoot down at the end of next week and keep out of crowded places and away from sniffy kids!! They whisk you into hospital if they even get a glimpse of a bug. I was always being ordered to goto have my blood checked. Sharon2 got dragged off and they wouldn’t let her out of hospital for ages. Not meaning to alarm you but just remember how vulnerable you can be. I used to just switch off the alarm and sleep and be awake whenever my body wanted. So often up all night or wandering around and going back to bed in the early hours.
Take care
Lily x
Hi all - had another good day yesterday, except the steroids made me soooooooooo alert! The body was saying, sleep, the brain was mentally sorting through the wardrobe! Steroids all done for now.
Had a stroll over Chelmer Village to get a few bits, and slept like a baby last night.
Son was working at Hylands House today for the council’s Play scheme, so me and hubby had some brekkie. Came back, and hopped into bed for a while (me…not us!). Just had lunch and all is well.
I have taken on a reddish tinge and look so bloody well! Look’s like I have been on a beach! ha ha if only!
Injections going in just fine, 3 more of them left, no bruising or complaints …so far! Don’t worry, I am under no illusion that the honeymoon peroid will hit a snag at some point, but while it’s, good, I am not complaining!
Thanks for all the good wishes, going to have a soak in the bath.
Sounds like your’e doing really well Daisy, so pleased to hear it. First one done and crossed off, well done! Good that you managed to get some sleep and that you are coping with the injections. How was the ‘rave’ think I could hear you from my house!
I have been wondering if I’m supposed to having hot flushes or anything on the Zoladex, because I’m getting none - infact I’ve been freezing cold all weekend. At least I have finally shaken off this cold, but now have a lovely tickly cough.
Sharon C, sorry to hear that your surgeon has cancelled the op, you’d think he would at least discussed it with you first. I hope it will all get resolved.
thank you for your kind comments.
Daisy enjoy some rest after your steroid mania, the goody bag after chemo tends to be quite impressive and grows each time.
Tracey hope your cough gets better soon, hows the wig holding up?
Sharon2 hope you are sleeping better thanks for advice
Lily it would great to meet you, keep fingers crossed for you at check up.
Flora time to relax enjoy planning next holiday. you have helped me a lot.
Julie how are you I hope the last drain did the trick and the pain is better.
I have had a braintransplant I think. from someone who found it difficult to contemplate a mx, I now want it off as soon as poss, dont qiite know how i am going to explain that to my bcn or convince the psych, but i will be ringing bcn tomorrow to try and reinstate op dont hold out much hope. surely I am not the only one to go through such swings of emotion.
keep your fingers crossed I can convince them I am sane
Hi all,
well phones bcn typical she was ont in, but spoke to someone from the breast care unit, her take on things is that they have to wait for psych’s report then i have too go through thwe whole process again. s–t sh-t
Seeing the psych tomorrow, would you believe that they have got me an appointment with a psych i have know and have worked with for 20 years and the meeting is at my place of work, surely that cant be right. Anyway still possitive I want to go ahead as soon as poss, just need to stop this roller coster
Hi,
well at least I can get out of my hen night cossie and go back to cutie animals, now our friend is a married lady! Daisy I remember the mediterranean tan well and got it every time. People always said I looked well with it and then it suddenly goes and the rest starts. I always looked well when I felt i could do with the most sympathy and vice versa. You do crash down when you stop them though. You are coping well with the jabs.
Sharonbas don’t worry, just come on her and let it out. We are so much more available than the shrink. How strange that it is someone you know and glad it is soon, now you have had a change of heart. Let us know how you get on.
Sharon2 is chappy back to school and better? Hope so and can we meet?
Hi to everyone else and hope you are on the mend or feel better very soon
Lily x
Yesterday I thought I had been hit by a bus, or was it a train, and used it as an excuse to stay in bed and do bugger all. Today I feel fine. Bones are achy, but I am getting used to that now!
My hot water bottle and bath are my new best friends, as is ASDA value lemon & lime juice.
Will be in touch again soon, hopefully still feeling fine & dandy.
Daisy it is not the chemo its all that raving that has taken its toll. enjoy some rest.
thank you so very much Flora,
Just to let everyone know I did not get carted off to the funning farm, the psych said they should not of cancelled my op and he would be contacting the hospital, when I got home thee was message to say i now have an appointment to see surgeon on Thursday dont know what he will say but hope for surgery soon. I also went out and got myself properly fitted with a bra ( I’ll get them out for anyone now)turns out my 36C are really a 34DD I should of gone in for page three. and the bra I bought was a mastectomy bra with pockets so see how good I am being about ajusting, sorry my pat on the back for me.
hope you all get together soon and hope to see you all soon, i will proberly post after Thrusday with my news.
thanks Sharon C
Oh dear, this morning was going really well, then it all went horribly wrong. Was moments away from calling an ambulance.
Felt fine all day, then all of a sudden I had the upset tummy from hell. Wasn’t sick but felt it, couldnt move off the loo and started to sweat to the point where it was rolling down my face. Called Ken, he got here within 20 mins, I was then violently shaking and had gone blue.
Phoned the hospital who said to take my temp which was 35.5 and to get me in the bath NOW. I was shaking so hard, it really, really scared me. Then I went red and spotty from top to toe in about a minute. Hosp made me take a Pireton and stay in the bath, shaking stopped and temp got up to 36.deg. they got Ken to check things on me, can’t remember what as I was out of it.
Within 10 mins the red started to fade and I warmed up. Got out of the bath, got into bed, temperature rose to normal and I felt fine!
Seemingly it was an allergic reaction to possibly the jabs (last one was this morning), plus I had not been to the loo since Thursday and was so constipated, that my tummy just couldn’t cope and my body went into shock. Who knows?
VERY scary, VERY horrible yet, I feel great now! Am drinking lots of water.
Tummy is very tender, plus I am expecting a period at some point having not been allowed my contraceptive injection. My last period was 9 yrs ago, so I am not looking forward to this one - I just wish it would start.
Anyway, heres to a good day tomorrow. Ken is off now and all next week.
Daisy! poor you, that must of been very frightening for you. Glad you are feeling better now hopefully it won’t happen again. I take it you were on your own at the time, I hate it when I feel ill and there’s no one around, at least hubby got to you quick. You might find chemo knocks your periods on the head! I didn’t have one at all whilst on it and haven’t since, but then I’m on Zoladex now. Not something I miss one iota thank you very much.
SharonC, glad you have been declared sane! more than I can say for me! is surgery going ahead next week? glad you are feeling a little better about it, it’s not easy I know.
Julie, will be thinking of you and good luck for first chemo tomorrow.
Helen, hope you are doing okay.
Love to everyone
Tracey xx
Hi everyone,
Tracey just sent you a pm. Fantastice news, well done.
Daisy oh yuk poor you. Had my fair share of emergencies and had to have piriton for the last 8 doses so know how scarey that can be, especially when on your own. They will probably make you have piriton evry time now or change the jabs. Piriton made me really sleepy, almost used to slide out of the chair unless I had my feet up, in the unit. It gets me really fast iv. You need to talk to us about constipation, you never had so many experts, lol. Get some senna tablets and take them evry night if you haven’t been and can also get dulcoeases to keep things soft. Sorry to be so basic but you can really get into trouble if you don’t react quickly enough. Anyway hopefully that crisis is over and you can get back to normalish! Julie big hugs for your first chemo and you will be glad to get one over with. Hope it all goes well for you. Sharonbas hope you get what you want on Thursday and op soon done and dusted.
Take care everyone
Lily x
