Evening primrose oil for hot flushes - what's the dose????

Hello all,

I’ve recently begun to experience the dreaded hot flushes during and after my final round of chemo. I can only expect these to become worse as due to start on Tamoxifen soon. As I’m ER+ I am of course limited to what I can take to counter the effect of the flushes - so have begun on what I have read to be one of the only safe herbal options so as not to stimulate ER production, namely Evening primrose oil. The capsules I’ve bought are 1000mg - does anyone know what the ideal dose should be on a daily basis? At the moment I am only taking one of these.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi Bright

I have bumped up a thread I was reading recently about Hot Flushes. Towards the end one lady suggests a rather large dose - It may be of help

Andie

Thanks Andie,

I read it - very useful. Yes a high dose and dropping by 1000mg every fortnight. I will try this.

Thank you
