Hi Ladies - Looking for your help please, 4 weeks after MX the xpander implant has been removed due to infection, gutted! I had an expander in the left breast 3 yrs ago and didn’t have the same issue, now i’ve got lots of questions i wonder if you can help with
Anyone know any stats or probability of success / failure at a second attempt?
Will i ever know what caused the infection - the reason i ask this did it come from the seroma they were really reluctant to drain (in case it introduced an infection(!) or damaged the expander?
Timescales for trying again?

Me too,had silicone implant, became infected, removed, so had expander put in, and that did not work, skin became sloughy, so expander saline reduced, and had a good clean up, last week, and still leaking, although does not feel infected, and think I may have to have that removed. Were you under a local when you had that done??
Problem is was diagnosed high grade DCIS 13 years ago, had saline implant inserted, capsultated so had silicone put in, then got pagets in nipple… Was never right, but used prostheses, and then Dx with DCIS other side just a couple of months ago, and Consultant though it would be nice, as I did, to make me even.Themot recent side is fabulous, but the other side, :(…maybe should have left alone, but we never know, implant was twisted anyway, so probably not bad idea to get removed.
Are you now completely flat, and what are your long term plans???Take care, J x
