Eye lashes eyebrows

Just looking for ur experience of how long it has taken for eyelashes and eyebrows to grow back after chemo ?

I have been using an eye lash serum but this morning lost a clump of eye lashes because they had all stuck together from it

Is it true it’s difficult to get micro blading done after chemo ? Because I am dreadful drawing these eyebrows in ! I feel like Charlie Chaplin !

Hi TeeCass

I remember being so obsessed with my puppy-soft hair that I barely noticed the rest. My eyelashes grew as a uniform row of stubby lashes but I don’t remember it taking long. They grew back the same but with less colour. Eyebrows were the same. Soft hair grew back so it was easy to brush a pencil along them. Unfortunately I inherited my dad’s eyebrows and about 5 bristly hairs survived chemo. They looked like bloody spider legs! They remain stubborn and even stronger than before.

Other hair grew back more sparse (except leg hair - of course) and quite brittle and colourless. I have little underarm hair and the weirdest regrowth pattern of pubic hair!!

As for micro blading, I’d ask your breast care nurse. It may be that your skin is too thin right now. I know a lot of women have it done before chemo for that reason. But in a few weeks time, it may be possible.

Good luck and go easy on the serum! Xx

Hi Teecass… my brows and lashes came back fairly quickly…but it took a while for them to thicken up…I asked my oncologist about microblading but was told not recommended for at least 12 months as my immune system was weakened after chemo making me more susceptible to infection …but definitely ask your team because advice differs for different people depending on their treatment…I completely get what you mean about drawing in brows…its a real skill ( which I just didn’t have ) …and its not until you lose your brows that you realise how much they define your face…I remember the lady from the look good course telling me to remember that ’ your brows are sisters not twins,  so they don’t have to look identical ’ … but I know with me, it really knocked my confidence…so I understand how you feel…for me, more so than not having hair…I hope you continue to get growth and both your brows and lashes start to thicken up soon…wishing you well

I had my last weekly Paclitaxel on 16th October. My head hair had already started to grow back at that point (it had mostly fallen out during my earlier EC treatment). Whilst hair has continued to fill in, I was despairing for my eye brows and lashes until the beginning of December. From small beginnings at the start of the month, over the past 3 weeks I have got back almost normal eyebrows and my eyelashes are coming along well. So this is about 2 months past chemo. I have also had the back and sides of my hair cut to make it look like a more normal short style. Sadly it’s pure white.
