Does anyone know anything about an increased risk of cataracts with aromatase inhibitors? I was on Letrozole for two years and have now completed a year on Anastrozole. I am 64 and have just been told I have a cataract forming on one eye. My mother and my aunt had cataracts but not until well into their 70s. Digging around I have found an old reference 2012 to increased risk but nothing else…

Hi, I realize this response comes 7 years to late but I’m also desperately trying to know more about this! I was diagnozed with breast cancer at 50 and began Letrozole, Zoladex and Zometa the same year - within two years had aggressive cataracts in both eyes. Now 54 and waiting for cataract surgery on my second eye. No idea why I’ve had them so young, so obviously looking at the cancer treatment as a possible reason. I know radiation can be a cause but my oncologist says that radiation to the breast area would not affect the eyes at all. Anyone else with a similar story following radiation treatment or aromatase inhibitor, zoladex or zameta? Just want to know why!
