Has anyone on here had their eyebrows tattooed, semi-permanently or permanently in response to chemo hairloss? I’m looking into this early on, as if chemo is the treatment I’ll need, the loss of my eyebrows concerns me way more than my hair! (I’ve dabbled with almost zero hair in the past, admittedly younger days, but I know I can live with bandanas… eyebrows, though, that’s my freak-out point!)
I know it’s a frivolous thing, but evidently there’s a lot of places around the country that offer it - and I just wondered if anyone has first hand experience of it and would recommend/not recommend it?
Thanks!
Sophie
(I don’t ever wear make-up, so the thought of having to artfully draw/brush brows on is more horrifying than tattooing… believe me, I can’t even put blusher on artfully…lol)
hi sophie,
Ive had my done, best thing i ever did, had them done september 09 and just had them retouched up as mine do not look like ever coming back !!
Where I had them done, they also do a HD eyebrow kit, which is also really easy to use !!
Where abouts are you in the country ???
I’m in Wiltshire, Sharon. I’ve found a site online that offer it, but the before and after pics are tiny, and i know that just ‘after’ the brow looks much darker than it really is, so it’s hard to gauge how good the work is!! My eyebrows ordinarily are very fair (and getting sparser and fairer as I age, lol, need to go see my bcn to hear her call me ‘young’ again - at 41 this is the best part of the treatment… being referred to as youthful). So, if the tattoo is good, then I’d prob. want to keep going with them anyway - I just dread spending that amount of money out and looking horrendous… (though the tattooist in Salisbury does offer lazer removal, hehehe).
Hi Sophie
I’m about to have my last chemo and only started to lose brow and eyebrow hair a couple of weeks ago. I have enough brow hair left to see where they are supposed to be and a few flicks with an eyebrow pencil makes me look human again. I was shown how to do it at a Look Good Feel Better session (google it to see where your nearest sessions are) and found it easy even though I’d never used an eyebrow pencil in my life.

I’ve had my eyebrows tattooed in April this year (finished my last lot of Chemo end of Jan) personally I don’t think its worth the money (I paid £295), it hurts (but after Chemo & Rads it was bearable-as most things now are) and although the immediate results are good I’ve found that they have already faded quite a bit. I’m now having further Chemo for a reccurence and I’m a bit concerned that if my eyebrows all come out you’ll see the tattooing, back to the old eyebrow pencil again thank god for LGFB!
My advice is shop about for quotes and ask to view photos of there work, plus to check there credentials, there are a lot of people out there claiming to be professionals in this and they are not.
Sarah, what part of country you in? I’d much rather go to someone who’s been personally recommended than risk it on the basis of photos - particularly as the photos seem to be done straight after tattooing, and the results are not the same two weeks later…
Was eyeliner scary? Love the idea of that… particularly as work in kitchen so cannot wear make-up… but the thought of it freaks me out a bit. (It’s an eye thing, not a needle thing, lol, as my other tats would bear testament…)
It was in Basingstoke, any my mum had hers done there a couple of years ago… So know it’s all ok.
The eyes were fine, to be honest less painful than the eyebrows but there is a risk of it not taking first time and she recommends a couple of goes… All at extra cost don’t know if that’s just her or for eye liner in general you’d need to do your research which I didn’t do as it was all a bit of a rush as I wanted to get it done before chemo.
But very happy with eyebrows especially now as they’re just beginning to thin.
Hi All
Haven in Leeds are doing an eyebrow tattoo demo on the 18th Feb, in the afternoon. I’ve just been sent an e mail about it. If you’re interested it might be worth taking a look. I know that won’t help everyone(distance might be restrictive) but it might be worth those in the area checking it out.

Does anyone know were i can get an eyebrow kit, i tried Boots but they didnt have any, ive lossed my eyebrows n dont want to get the tatoo ones,i live in glasgow if anyone knows were i could buy it thanks
Try Debenham’s or House of Fraser’s make-up counters, or try Boot’s again, but ask for someone to demonstrate on you how to draw on eyebrows. It’s actually very straightforward once you see how it’s done.

Good eyebrow kit I’ve found is from Benefit called ‘Browzing’ and I had a demo on how to apply it from the makeup counter and looked on youtube also. Had FEC3 and haven’t yet lost my eyebrows. They have thinned a bit and are not growing (horrah no plucking!) but they are still hanging on in there!
Probably a bit late to answer this post, but here goes. I have never plucked or done anything to my eybrows in my life, but due to thyroid problems lost what little eyebrows I had. I experimented with pencils, visited nearly every beuty counter around for a demo and hated them all.
Then I saw my friends brows, and asked her what she did to make them look so natural and she recommended a natural tattoo enhancer. After seeing my sister in laws naff permenant make-up I was amazed that it was a tattoo.
I have a huge needle problem, but I went along and am so glad I did. They look fantastic, and a year later are only just starting to look as if perhpas they should be touched up.
I would recomend going to a good practicioner, not just anyone, but have to admit it must be hard to find one without being lucky enough to have a freind who has tried them out.
I’m starting on Taxotere on Tues and probably likely to lose brows and lashes, I have to say that when I’m plucking stray hairs they are sliding out with no resilience - so think they may already be on their way from 2 bouts of FEC - though I keep reminding myself when I’m feeling unfeminine that it is evidence that the fast growing cells are being very killed off and that’s the function of this chemo to zap any remaining cancer cells and stop them from turning into mets.
i cannot remember it was nearer £200 than one. It is a company called natural enhancement. I paid a bit more because i wanted the clinic nearest my house.
OH right, Ouch Can’t afford that unfortunately. Oh well, I’ve had a blunt cut fringe added to Alexis my wig which comes well below my brow line, so if I lose them and wear my wig it shouldn’t be noticeable. xxx Thanks for letting me know a ballpark. x
