Eyelashes

Hi there!

Wasn’t sure where to post this but seemed fitting here. I have been reading these boards for months and just want to say a thanks as they have helped me massively through my treatment. I was diagnosed in November, finished chemo in March and just had my double mastectomy and diep reconstruction with lymph node removal a couple days ago.

Anyway, I lost all my hair and was just curious as to what all you ladies done about your eye lashes (if anything). I was thinking about using fake ones that you can glue on yourself or is this a bad idea. Any thoughts on your experience would be much appreciated!

Congrats on getting this far! During treatment I didn’t bother with fake lashes or anything as I found it just made me look odd. I did go to a Looking Good Feeling Great session which gave some advice but it would probably be better to leave them alone to recover and grow back. I missed my eyebrows more than my lashes tbh.

My lashes were very thin and straight when I got them back (I’m six years free) and I used every mascara going. Eventually I was told by a make up consultant that instead of using thick mascara brushes it was better to use a thin one. I have a really nice mascara from Benefit.

But it late last year I started getting eyelash extensions. And they are fabulous! I look like I have make up on all the time. Yes I have to get them filled in every few weeks but it is so worth it. Finally there are lots of serums out there now to encourage growth and thickness of eyelashes. Once they start coming back you can try some of the best ones.

Hope that helps x

Thanks very much. I ordered a serum online and I’m going to try that  I also asked my nurse about microblading and she said It would be best to wait until my surgical wounds heal. Did you use the serum on both your eyelashes and eye brows until they started to come back?

Hi there. I’d been using fake lashes. I’m not a girly girl and found it a total faff. It would take ages and they’d usually be wonky. My friends 14 year old daughter would often do them for me but that wasn’t practical early morning for work…plus I would often have them flapping in the wind at the edges by the end of an evening. Friend found one in the back seat of her car the other day hahaa
Anyway, wearing glasses I found that just darker eyeshadow would often do.
Good news is, they’ve started coming back. They’re very stubby but I’ve found a great mascara in marks. It’s a brand called Pixi, small green box. It’s meant for lower lashes but the wand has no brush so you can get mascara on the shortest of lashes without poking yourself in the eye. Hope that helps someone
