Face creams

Hi I have bilateral breast cancer. ER positive and HER2 negative.
I have used creams on my face for the last 4 years and am not sure if they are suitable. I am 75 years old, does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi @geemail.com are you concerned that the face creams that you use might somehow impact your oestrogen levels? I’m not sure that any specific facial creams are out of bounds, even those containing parabens, about which it was once thought that they might increase oestrogen levels, but this has since found to be an unfounded myth. I was diagnosed three years ago aged 66 with highly er+ BC but have never been told by my team not to use particular products. I tend to use readily available face creams from Boots own to Clinique or Clarins and always with SPF during the day. If you have a specific query or concern, my advice is always to contact your BC nurse and, if you can’t get hold of her, to call our nurses on 0808 800 6000 9.00-16.00.

I use the Yuka app and it says if the cream or food item is safe. I have changed face creams to yepoda make. But I’ve heard one of the Lidl face creams is also good. I’ve changed most of my products like shower gel, shampoo and conditioner.

Yes i use the yuka app too. I was already transitioning over to more natural and eco products before my er -ve, HEr2 +ve bc. So now i am even more careful. I think its generally better for our health and the planet even if there are no direct links and evidence of causing harm. I am 69 and use Weleda skin food on my face, la roche porsay cleanser. Upcircle beauty is a good company , also highborn london are also very good, started by a breast cancer survivor, although both these companies are a bit pricey. My onologist recommended Aveeno products, the body moisturisor and body wash are good but you have to read the label as not all aveeno products are the same.
