Wondered if any one can advise. I have started takin Arimadex after Latisumus Dorsi, Chemo and Radiotherapy. Did have the cold cap but still lost most of my hair. It has started to grow and not looking too bad, very short but the amount of old friends who have seen me out and about, with no hairband or scarves think I look lovely and 10 years younger. The only thing is I have got very fine downy hair on my face and neck. I am/was blonde but not too happy to have a man beard growth. I am thinking its maybe the Arimadex but can anybody help and offer hope that its short term. Annie XX
Hi Annie,
I can’t give you any words of comfort other than to say I am in the situation. I finished chemo in June and am taking Tamoxifen. As my hair grew back in the all the places that I wanted it, it also began sprouting on my face …and I am not blonde! It is very fine and soft on my cheeks, but those horrible, wiry, thick, dark hairs under my chin (of which I had half a dozen before treatment) are back with a vengeance! I am going to see about getting it waxed tomorrow.
On a positive note, I love having eyelashes again ![]()

Me too - I am sure it is the Tamoxifen with me
I also have this fine down on my face (not blonde but not too dark) which I see when I look in the mirror. I have stopped looking in the mirror!
Thank you lovely ladies for you reply. I also try not to look in the mirror but what a shock when I do. Where have I gone. Just on another note. I went to Aveada hair salon in Leeds and had a vegetable dye on my hair as I hated the non decript colour. Not happy with the results quite dark. Not the fault of the colourist, I just don’t think I understood what she could offer and I am an ex hairdresser!!! Its faded now and looks much nicer. Was natural blond but has come back darker. I think I like it. Might have a few highlights.Hair becomes an obsession I am sure. One friend said she would love to have her hair cut like mine. Very kind but I bet she changes her mind. Well I will just continue to comb my face and hope for the best. Then sun has come out so I think I will go for a walk and get the wind in my hair, Ha ha. Take care all. X
PS. Me Too.My eyelashes have never been so nice, always a bit thin before the chemo.
There was a thread on this a few months back that you might be able to dig up - there was a reference to polar bears in the title! From memory I think quite a few ladies said they had facial hair after chemo, but it had gone after a while.

yep same here . i finished chemo in january, now on tamoxifen, i have a face full of what i call duck down, but this is going , not as bad as a few months ago xx
Hi
I didn’t have chemo and am now on Tamoxifen but also have a fine covering of hair on my face! It wasn’t there before so can only put it down to hormone treatment. It doesn’t seem to be going though!!! Been on Tamoxifen a year now.
My duck down appeared after chemo when I started on Aromasin. Couldnt beleive it when I saw it the first time, I’d looked in the mirror and the light must have caught it. I was quite upset at the time, but now try and keep looking in the mirror to a minimum xxxx
I don’t mind the duck down and love looking in mirrors and seeing hair, eyebrows and eyelashes! ![]()
