Hi I’m 18months post treatment WLE radiotherapy for ER+ stage 1 BC. Have been on Letrozole for 21 months and looking to address ageing skin , I’m 63 . Thinking of trying Profhilo which is yearly facial injections of hyraulanic acid . This purports to boost collagen and elasticity to skin and has good reports . Only concern is I know collagen as a supplement is reported to attribute to mestasis of cancer . Has anyone got any experience, information or views on Profhilo please . ( I have spoken to BCNow nurse who was very helpful but says they cannot give advice on supplements etc unless medically evidenced . So it’s a question about hyraulanic injections to face TIA
Collagen is a bit controversial some Drs. are ok with it and some not - I decided to stop taking it as a supplement and have recently started having Ancient + Brave vegan Collagyn which is combination of amino acid and vitamins which stimulate your own collagen production. I think half the problem with collagen certainly for me personally is that it comes from animals which for me is a problem in itself and that the animals may have been fed hormones . Also there’s the processing of it.
There’s no problem that I’m aware of with hyaluronic acid in fact I use products that contain it almost the time including Hyalofemme. I don’t know anything about the product you mention . I’m assuming that it only stimulates collagen production in the area that it’s injected into - personally I don’t see a problem with that. If however it increases systemic collagen production that might be a different matter as we can’t decide how or where our bodies will decide to use the collagen . I have no surgical face lifts using electric current and you have now made me wonder what effect that has on my own collagen production.
Oh thanks for your interesting reply and info re the gel , it does seem to be a grey area. Let’s see if anyone else has any info/viewd to add
