Fasting whilst on chemo

Hello
I wonder if anyone can help, I was diagnosed with ER and HER2 positive breast cancer, no spread in nodes, so fab… a friend of mine has recommended fasting for 48 hours before chemo and on the day of chemo… I mean that’s 36hrs of no food!!! Im not sure I can manage it ?
I have had my first herceptin IV and 2 lots of Paclitaxel, small side effects of fatigue and the odd day of nausea but nothing major. Also treatment is preventative and not to reduce Tumors as they have been removed, so would fasting benefit me?

Would recommend I fast??? ?
Thank you

Hi Keeley
There is another thread here called “Anyone else farting while on chemo? “. There are several of us on there relaying our experiences re fasting.
I chose to fast for three days around my chemo in a bid to reduce side effects. I do feel that it has been beneficial to me, but as I have not had chemo whilst eating, I do t know what that would have been like. It’s a bit of a conundrum? Pop over to the other thread to catch up with my fellow fasters. If you would like any hints or tips then please feel free to ask.
All the best
Jacq

Ahh thank you very much, I’ll go and have a look x

Keeley, I’ve just read my reply to you and that really should read “fasting”! ??

I did laugh my head off x ???

Keeley,

Just for balance, I’ve not fasted (being diabetic wouldn’t be a good idea anyway). In fact quite the opposite. I always make sure I have a big breakfast before chemo as it’s quite a long day. I’ve not had any side effects (apart from a blood clot but that’s from chemo). No nausea, sickness or anything.
