Fasting

Hi, I was initially advised that I would only need surgery & radiotherapy but now I’ve been re-classified as HER2 positive & am starting chemo in a few days. Thought now would be a good time to join the Forum & get better informed.

Thanks to all previous contributors for the useful tips & comments. I’m struggling a bit with navigating around the site but will get there!

I’m having the PICC line fitted tomorrow - slightly nervous about managing this, keeping it dry & so on.

A fellow traveller who had chemo last year said there’s some evidence for  fasting the day before chemo - that it improves the effect of the chemo & reduces nausea. Anyone come across this? I am naturally rather greedy so don’t much like the sound of it but would give it a try if people have found it helpful.

Looking forward to your words of wisdom.  With very best wishes, M

Lots of questions asking this very thing so if you want to read the conversations just plug fasting into the search engine. I did try it myself but only did it one chemo session out of four. The second time I attempted it, I ended up having a reaction to my steroid that put me into the hospital. Some people seem to be able to handle it better than others so keep that in mind. As far as was it difficult, no. Did it help me? Beats me. I didn’t notice myself doing any worse the second session than I did the first and nausea was not a problem with any of my sessions regardless.
