Hello, I’m 7 weeks post single mastectomy with a diep flap reconstruction. I’ve been told I have fat necrosis on one side of it and I’ve been massaging my reconstructed breast atleast 1-2 times a day from the day they said I should start.
Does anyone have any advice? Is there a way to “fix” this? I’ll be seen in Dec to decide next steps.
Has anyone else experienced this? Would love to know how you managed it and how any medical intervention went (along with recovery times etc!). Thank you!
I didn’t have diep but had necrosis on my lumpectomy scar - very scary finding the lump and I had pain pulling across from my breast to my axilla and down to my elbow which was quite bad for a day or two then slowly eased. After it was confirmed to be harmless on ultrasound scan I massaged it though gently due to the pain and did the post op exercises and other exercise diligently as this helped the pain. I also wore my very supportive immediate post surgery bras . In my case it formed into an oil cyst which was gradually reabsorbed into my body - there’s no lump there now though it took a few months to go completely . I have heard of people having them drained though xx.
