fat transfer instead of mesh

Hello all, I am confused and I wonder if anyone knows of this procedure or has experienced it. My consultant is proposing I have an implant plus an expander and in some months he will do a fat transfer to ensure the implant is viable. So the fat transfer is primarily to protect the skin and not for cosmetic purposes. This seems to be an alternative method to using mesh. I have tried to find information on this method to no avail and my McMillan nurse informs me that she has, in many years, never come across it. She says the other surgeons have always used mesh which is more straight forward. This has left me very uneasy and I don’t know what to do. Like everyone else in this situation, I do not have the luxury of time so I need to resolve concerns quickly. Please let me know if you can offer any advice.

Cheers, Elaine
