Fatigue and bed yoga

I know a strange topic. My BC treatment has been straightforward and uncomplicated until now. Letrozole - oh boy that stuff is doubling the problems I already have with fatigue due to having Lupus. I was ready to stop it, simply wasn’t functioning and the thought of five years of this when you are 78 made me want to give up. The worst times of the day for me are first thing in the morning when I wake up still whacked out after 8 or 9 hours sleep, late morning, then around 5 when I need to make dinner for my other half. Recently I read somewhere about a lady who does a short yoga session when she wakes up without getting off the bed (unless you are desperate for a wee). Just simple gentle stretches and calm breathing. 5 or 10 minutes is all you need but believe me you get so hooked you don’t want to stop. I then get up splash my face with cold water and drink a glass of water. Bingo I’m awake not fatigued and ready to go. It really works try it. I’m also working on the other times with ten minute rides on an exercise bike, it’s an ongoing process but it’s helping.

May all our fatigue become controlled even if it doesn’t disappear. xx

(I think there’s a video on YouTube showing the exercises)

Hello @nannabee

I really love your post, I too have discovered the benefits of yoga since my diagnosis and treatment and I’ve even got my husband doing it as well!

We are lucky to live literally around the corner from a yoga studio where the teacher is so good at explaining how inclusive yoga is and how everyone can do it it’s made such a difference to both our lives.

Namaste

Hi @nannabee and @adoptedmanc . Great to read this. I haven’t started my chemo etc yet (:flushed:) but yoga has helped me through various other life problems and bed yoga is something my yoga teacher has sometimes talked about. The stretching, deep breathing and gentle all round movements are great for waking you up and just feeling better. (she’ll be thrilled to hear it’s helping people). Good luck - you sound like you’re coping amazingly considering everything :two_hearts:

@Vissdoc if you look on YouTube for Ann Swanson Wellness it’s one of hers. She has lots of videos including some Tai Chi. She even has one called “Yoga to Fart” (her words not mine) which I guess is for bloating but did make me laugh. I have 23 of her videos on a play list as there are some really useful ones.

Also look online at PennyBrohn.org.uk. The King is the patron so it must be a really good charity. She has free yoga and tai chi classes (plus others) that run live on Zoom. I haven’t tried any yet but have several booked and am really looking forward to those.

If I you want to send me a message I’ll help you further if I can, I’m a great believer in yoga and TaiChi.

xx

@Anjuli qi gong is another practice I have used for years. I find both are really good when your brain is racing 100miles an hour, calms you down. Enjoy x
